Hopefully Jason can do something like this. I guess if he did do this for BigBox than "low end" would have to be defined. Eventually old hardware loses out to new software. Part of the reason for min spec on some software. After all when using an old pc for emulation you have to make concessions on what platforms you are going to emulate since some require a minimum spec to run the emulation well.

4k monitor and second 1080p Monitor wont show marquee
Retro808 replied to unknownclient's topic in Troubleshooting
I know you said you have not connected both to the GPU yet but I would try it and see if you get the same affect. It should be easier to control resolution issues that way. That GPU can handle multiple monitors easily. I know the few times I had to do it the way you have, due to the connection ports on the GPU and the monitors did not allow me to connect both to the GPU, I had random issues with certain games. -
No worries. It is not something really documented well except for a few posts on our forum. The issue with MameUI is it is technically a front end for Mame and the creator(s) changed something in it. Then when you mix a front end (MameUI) with a front end (Launchbox) sometimes things do not mesh well. I converted to command line Mame thanks to this specific issue and to the forum members here. Just remember this step if you keep using MameUI and upgrade versions in the future.
-
Try copying your mame.ini file that should be located in the ini folder into the root folder where the mameui.exe file is. This issue started around 0.186 and that was the fix.
-
Glad your sorted. Just remember anytime you add a new platform make sure it is listed in the emulator you are using under the associated platforms tab.
-
Should look something like this. Your name of the associated platform make sure it matches how you have it named in Launchbox. The -run=dc -image= does not need to be in the emulation details tab since you have it in the associated platforms already. I don't put it in that tab since I use Demul for Sammy Atomiswave and Sammy uses a different paramater.
-
I do not see that you added the other two platforms in your associated platforms tab. Since you added platforms called Sega Dreamcast (homebrew) and Sega Dreamcast (imports) those also need to be listed under Sega Dreamcast in the demul associated platforms tab. Otherwise Launchbox does not know to use that emulator for that platform.
-
So if they run direct in demul there is a disconnect somewhere in Launchbox. Can you share a pic of your manage emulator screen showing the emulator details tab and the associated platforms tab. Also right click, edit a homebrew game and share a pic of the launcher and emulation tab.
-
In launchbox did you add these to the associated platform of your Demul emulator? In the image below you should also have those two platforms listed so launchbox knows to associate the new platforms with demul. Use the same command line parameters as Dreeamcast too. Also make sure the associated platform name matches exactly how you have the name of the platforms in Launchbox.
-
The homebrews should work as well. I just tested a couple homebrews and they work fine through Launchbox in Demul. When you say most games work do you mean normal Dreamcast games? Did the homebrew roms get added to the same platform in Launchbox as Dreamcast games or did you create a new platform for the hombrews and imports?
-
They both work well and definitely a preference thing. Mame is actually a breeze. Just point it to the folder where the roms are, make sure in the roms folder you have the coleco bios zip and make sure you have the following command line in launchbox associated platforms tab for ColecoVision: coleco -cart
-
Are your drivers update? I have two machines one with a dual monitor and another with a triple and in each set up the monitors are all set to their recommended resolutions and have no issues with LB displaying correctly. I am not an expert in this area just sharing that it should work as you would expect. On my dual monitor one I had this issue but when I upgraded the GPU and then upgraded of course the drivers to go along I no longer had the issue.

C64 Games not working in Retroarch with LB/BB
Retro808 replied to snarfo67's topic in Troubleshooting
@snarfo67 Don't sweat it. Like @neil9000 said we have definitely seen it before. Missing quotation mark, 3 L's in .dll, missing space, missing "-". You are sorted that is all that matters. -
That core no longer exists. It is recommended to use standalone Mame. I would take a look at this post. The bios for coleco when used in Mame will need to be zipped.
-
Same here as @Lordmonkus Windowed Fullscreen set to off.
-
yeah I have the iPac. The Xarcade is a keyboard as well so I am not sure why the normal Mame configuration in RA is not working for you. Can you post a couple pics of what a game looks like and pics of your video settings? Maybe I can replicate it on my test pc.
-
I would download a new RA and put it in a different folder. then download only the Playstation core, copy your bios into that folders \system folder and test. If it works well then you know something is corrupt in the original folder.
-
If you go into the \cores folder of your Retroarch do you see the core .dll there? Should be something like mednafen_psx_libretro.dll If it is showing in RA in your list of cores to load it should be but just figured check in case.
-
For PS1 you just need to make sure you have the correct bios in the \system folder of your Retroarch structure. There are several out there SCPH1001.bin (I think this is the older PSX bios), SCPH5500.bin, SCPH5501.bin, SCPH5502.bin you need the correct one for your roms.
-
Welcome to Launchbox and the forums. Edited: I see @neil9000 beat me to the punch again We recommend setting up RA and making sure your roms all work before importing into LB. That way if it does not work after import it is easy to tell if it is a Launchbox issue or an RA/Roms issue.
-
You should probably share what type of encoder you are using than so those that have the same one will know to do what you did. With my iPac and the Xarcade I simply launch a game and hit Tab and set everything up just like I would in standalone mame. Under the \saves\Mame folder RA will generate a default.cfg as well as inidividual game .cfg files if you set specific machine controls. RA retains and launches those controls regardless of what is set in the RA input menu. For the aspect ratio I cannot say. I have mine set to core provided and no matter what game I launch it launches as it should. Are you using a custom aspect or just "core provided"?

Works fine with my arcade cabinet controllers. The bartops and the standup.

C64 Games not working in Retroarch with LB/BB
Retro808 replied to snarfo67's topic in Troubleshooting
Definitely something missing in your Launchbox set-up causing a disconnect. I did not have C64 loaded in my arcade but I just set it up and tested 2 games and they launched fine through Launchbox. I would say post a couple pics of the Emulator Details tab and Associated Platform tab from the manage emulators screen just so we can see if we notice anything. -
I would also recommend hoping onto their reddit/forum/discord and reading/researching as Cemu requires tinkering. I have been recently messing around with specific game graphics packs as some are non-resolution fixes and their site has been helpful in navigating through all the tinkering you can do.

@faeran Another great addition to your theme set. Keep 'em coming!
