Just wanted to make a suggestion regarding the forums/website here if I may be so bold: DO NOT FREAKIN' CHANGE! I collected physical vintage/retro video games for many years. After given it up (without going into the details) I tried my hand at Hyperspin. I enjoyed it very much though I only did the arcade games side of things. It was a bit to get my head around at first but I got there in the end. Without bashing the Hyperspin community here ('cause that wouldn't be cool), they were not bad people but not overly helpful/friendly. Years later, fast forward to two and a half months ago and I signed up for, and paid for Launchbox premium and have never looked back. In only ten weeks I have amassed around 150 platforms totaling about 53k games. More so though the community here has been indescribably helpful (even though I just used the word 'indescribably' to describe it). So please do not change anything here. For the people I have interacted with thus far including the plethora of already very helpful information floating within has been worth a hundred times more than the premium fee I initially paid. I am not the brightest bulb in the box regarding all this stuff but hopefully one day in the future I can give a little back regarding artwork contributions and the likes. So don't ya'll change now, ya hear?!

I just spent half an hour going through my 1.6k .tap files and they are all unzipped and renamed appropriately. Though I do I have a set of TOSEC .d64 files which they are about 17k. It will take some time to sort through those to do the same thing but I think I will just bite the bullet and commit to doing so. I will report back as to my success or lack-thereof in the end.

I just extracted them and am going to use Bulk Rename Utility to get rid of any parenthesis. I will let you know how I go. Because Launchbox is linked to them as a .zip I will have to upload them to Launchbox again now right?

I found it thank you. I went through and entered all the settings you recommended. I still cannot get a single game to go but I will keep persevering with it.

All 1.6k of my files are zipped .tap files so that is no problem. I did download some preservation project files but deleted them when I saw that is what they were. I have heard you mention some setting in the special section but I do not appear to have that in my CCS64 emulator, or at least cannot see it. Is there someway in particular to access it or might I have a earlier or later version than you? That sounds interesting but first I would like to try and get CCS64 working before I look into something else, thank you for mentioning it as it is something I will at the very least take a look at.

I am trying CCS64 now, I'll see how I go with that. Unfortunately my childhood system is proving to be a right proper pain in the buttocks to get up and going.

Hi all, I followed the tutorial but my games are not loading. I am using Hoxs64 with the -quickload -autoload commands. At first the emulator would just go to the purple colored system screen. Then I realized I had not ticked the box to unzip files as my ROMs are zipped .tap files. After doing that it seems to go through the quickload and autoload then asks to press play on the tape. Upon hitting the space-bar (which I am guessing is play) the game never actually loads but does something like: ...if it even progresses to that. Some of those color combinations are pretty sweet but I'd rather be playing a game. Any ideas?

Hello, out of the approximate 51k there’d be about 100 gaming magazines but all the rest are games. I have broken quite a few of my systems up into regions and only imported the Japanese exclusives. I actually have seperate categories for translations for the Game Gear, NES, SNES and Mega Drive where I’ve made my own custom main menu clear logos. I like to try and get rid of duplicates, demos and betas too. Though for various systems I have seperate categories for hacks and homebrews like the Atari 2600 for example where I’ve got over 2k games. I have a Sonic the Hedgehog hacks category for the Mega Drive with about 180 games, I find those fun. I’m starting to add all the old pain in the arse computers now which will be frustrating but fun too. Your collection sounds like it’d be very organised and tidy, which I really dig.

I added the Sharp MZ-700 to my Launch Box tonight though it is not in the LaunchBox database and there is no video of it of course. I made this and was wondering if it is good enough? Hopefully the green on the screen is good enough to make it easy on Kdenlive for you. I am unable to finish it off as I have already pulled enough hair out trying. I downloaded some game footage off of YouTube from the system but my video editing skills are poopy. I am happy to keep making these backgrounds for stuff if you are able to finish them off with the video side of things dragon57?

I tried the mednafen one prior but had made a mistake with it. Thanks for your reply as it fixed it up for me. -
Retroarch & wonderswan emulation question
flatuswalrus replied to Special T's topic in Troubleshooting
Hey all, I watched the video tutorial on YouTube for the WonderSwan and WonderSwan Color. In the video it shows the old core: -L "cores\mednafen_swan_Libretro.dll". I see this has been updated and I have typed in: -L"cores\beetle_cygne_Libretro.dll" as the Default Command-Line Parameter but neither system works for me. I ended up using Mednafen alone to get the WonderSwan to work. Though I still am unable to get the WonderSwan Color to work on either emulator. Is my Command-Line correct? My WonderSwan Color ROMs are zipped with .wsc files within and I have "Extract ROM Archive Before Running" checked in Retroarch so that is not the problem. -
Just wanted to say thank you as I figured this out tonight and it works like a charm. It has definitely made my setup that little bit more easy now.

I just created a profile for PPSSPP with Controller Companion and without having to do anything else it automatically made the two analogue sticks on my PS4 controller operate as a mouse where before they were not. I am not the best at all this stuff, but would this be an option for you?

Hi all, just wondering if there is something I can put like -quickload and/or -autoload for the C64 via MAME to get past the home screen and into the game. I am happy to use another emulator but am trying to use either Retroarch, Mednafen or MAME for continuity.

There is something really wrong with the world when a disgusting abomination like the seventh Fast and the Furious film won the People's Choice Awards for Favorite Action Movie and something awesome like Controller Companion does not receive an equivalent accolade.

I just bit the bullet and threw the whopping $3 down for it. It took me a bit to work out I had to have DS4 open for it to work but I added both DS4 and C.C. to open upon windows starting up. I have not mapped anything yet but am already very impressed with what I have seen. Thanks for the info.

My SEGA Saturn was working just dandy in Mednafen. Then all of a sudden something happened, like a gremlin crawled in there and got all up in its' shit. When I launch a Saturn title from LaunchBox or BigBox Mednafen starts up the Saturn first showing the startup screen then goes into settings where you set the date and time. It never used to do that and although I try entering the settings it never progresses further than that into the game. Has anyone ever encountered this before? I have tried searching for information but did not come across any.

Thank you, it looks really good. I do use the PS4 controller home-button for closing Retroarch so mapping it via Controller Companion might have the potential to mess with that? Although if it did I suppose I could just redo the newly mapped button in Retroarch. I will definitely give it a try, thanks again.

That is a shame. In that case I might go to the 'trouble' of separating the system in LaunchBox into regions as I have done so with many other systems for different reasons. Thanks for the reply. EDIT: I had a no-intro ROM-set with about 230 ROMs I was using in LaunchBox. However I did have a C64 ROM-set with about 6k messily named ROMs so I used Dons Hyperspin Tools as well as the XML over there to tidy up the large ROM-set and separate that into USA & Europe regions/categories in LaunchBox so all good.

I have been having a huge win tonight with setting up systems on my LaunchBox. Though I am currently stuck on the C64. I am emulating it via MESS on MAME (if that is how you would say it). My C64 ROMs are a mix of NTSC, PAL and Japan. So I am wanting to include the names: c64, c64p and c64_jp in the Default Command-Line Parameters. "c64 -cart" works for NTSC games for example, but is there a way to direct it to all three BIOS files in the MAME ROM set?

Thanks very much. I will look into that. If I want to have two different options (buttons) to close something do I just separate them by a comma such as: $4,3:: { Process, Close, {{{StartupEXE}}} } ?
