Retroarch PSP games black screen

I do not have a config file for the PPSSPP in my config folder. -
How to update your MAME ROMset to a newer version with CLRmamepro
flatuswalrus replied to SentaiBrad's topic in Emulation
I have the latest MAME 0.198 ROMs (split) and MAME 0.198 Software List ROMs (split), regarding the CHD's will the MAME 0.198 CHDs (merged) be okay to use along side my 0.198 ROMs and Software List since they are both (split)? I ask because I am not sure which to get from the place of pleasure: Being that they can be quite large downloads I do not want to get the wrong one. Can someone advise? -
I was thinking the SNK Neo Geo CD was going to be a pain in the butthole to get going but I just added it to MAME with the neocdz -cdrm command and it just worked perfectly straight away. Each game I have has a .ccd, .cue, .img and .sub file. I added all the .cue files to LaunchBox and it worked like a charm. There is enough painful systems out there to get working so thankfully this one was a breeze.

Retroarch PSP games black screen
flatuswalrus replied to TentaclePentacle's topic in Troubleshooting
Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction regarding this. I followed the Unbroken Software, LLC tutorial and placed the recommended ppge_atlas.zim file in my retroarch > systems > PPSSPP folder along with some other stuff: Though it launches games into a black screen, and when I press F1 to go into RA's menu it just has a white screen. I am interested in this possible shader problem and am wondering where the above-mentioned config file might be located. The only config file I have which mentions the PPSSPP is the retroarch-core-options.cfg file in RA's main directory: I know the PPSSPP standalone is better and I've had 100& success with it but would like to get the PPSSPP core going if I can. -
Sounds like a typical Friday night at my uncle Jeffery's.

There has been multiple sci-fi films and shows throughout the years depicting extraterrestrial beings that spew digestive type juices onto people which can eat through pretty much anything like Kevlar Armour or steel. Why then in these shows and films do they not make and wear some sort of full body suit made out of corn? The structural integrity of the corn kernel or cellulose husk is not compromised by gastric juice or stomach acid so if they made a suit out of it they would be protected. Most sci-fi settings are in the future where they have highly advanced technology but no one has ever tried making a suit of corn? Seems ridiculous to me, thoughts?

This post did it for me, thank you. I still for some reason cannot view a handheld border shader larger than 2x as it chops off the sides of the handheld picture making a 4:3 share. Though, I am happy enough with the 2x size as I said before it is a bit more realistic, especially on a large modern TV. I just added the -c command for a custom config that did not exist, launch a game and let it create a blank config to then edit. Works like a charm, thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction.

I like the overlays/borders in the shader section too. I have just been having a weird problem with them. You can't fully see in this screenshot but whenever I chose the overlay/border x3 or larger it cuts off the edges: The screen on the TV is obviously wider than that above screenshot but it has two black strips down the side like it makes it 4:3 even though no settings have been changed pertaining to the ratio. In order to show the entire GBA I have to make it x2 in size: x2 isn't too bad but is pretty small on the screen, it looks fine in the above screenshot but is way smaller when it is actually viewed/displayed on my TV. Instead of having just a border I like the entire handheld device showing on the screen as I just like the look of it plus it makes the game display a little smaller still which is more like the real thing. I also have been having trouble adding the GBA through the overlays section as it stretches the image too high making it the incorrect ration for the games. I deleted ALL my config files and opened RA to start fresh but the problem persists. I run into so many dramas with everything it makes me feel stupid. I am going to give it all another try this afternoon and will report my results.

Although it does not hurt having the _default folder I am glad you've mentioned it now before I really did much more as I will move them all into the one folder for ease of use like yourself and then I will only have to change the location for the Atari Lynx.
-
Yes that's great, I am doing so to the SNK Neo Geo Pocket right now. and will now do so for all my handheld systems, thank you.
-
BINGO! That is all it was. That is absolutely fantastic. Now I can custom configure all of my handheld units which will make playing them WAY more enjoyable. Thank you very much for your kind assistance, it is very much appreciated indeed.

I moved the files to the Overlay folder. My Onscreen Overlay was not in the quick menu, it was in the settings list. It was already turned on. I saved it via core override and here is the .cfg: The numbers are just randomly set for the moment as I am fine to play around with those (in the video option or via the .cfg directly). I just made them small as to not obstruct the overlay image to see if it was on the screen, but it refuses to show:
-
Thank you for that. Though I have tried exactly what you said before but it did not work. I changed the cfg file name to Atari Lynx.cfg and then changed the image name inside the cfg file to match that of the image I wish to use. I then placed them in a folder called Atari Lynx and placed that in my shaders folder in RA. Upon navigating to the folder location in RA it sees the folder but not the .cfg file. I am about to leave for work so can't do it right now, but should or could this be placed in the overlays folder instead being that it is just a border alone and not really a shader? Or does that not matter at all?

I know how to add the handheld border shaders through RetroArch like the GBA one which was included in RetroArch's initial download or shader update here: I find it much more enjoyable playing like this. Though I want to be able to add ones that I have downloaded like this Atari Lynx one: Problem is it does not have a .cfg file, it just came with the following:The .ini just has the following information in it: I know the short answer to this would just be to create a .cfg file, but I have tried and not succeeded. Has anyone done this before and if so would someone be so kind as to walk through it together and then hopefully others may benefit from it too. I have searched but have not found any tutorials or discussion detailing exactly this. Also, one more question. For systems that one may be using the same core like gambatte_libretro.cfg for the GB and GBC but wish to have different custom configure in order to have a different handheld border shader if you copy your gambatte_libretro.cfg in the RA config folder and name it to something like gambatte2_libretro.cfg will it show up in the RA UI options? Thank you in advance.

I only just discovered you could do this with MAME. I applied the crt-geom also across my MAME64, MAMEUI64 and MAMEUIFX and it looks awesome! I went with crt-geom as well as that is what I was already using in RetroArch. So thank you very much for this tutorial as it has made things a lot more visually enjoyable. Now if I could only work out how to apply the Exodus CRT Overlay as a border I would be happier than a pig in mud.

Dreamcast Tutorial how to use VMU with Emulators
flatuswalrus replied to m3TTwUrsT's topic in News and Updates
Rather than start a new thread I thought it would be befitting to post here and drag this up like Weekend at Bernie's. Has anyone had any success with the VMU games via a standalone emulator like SoftVMS? I downloaded SoftVMS the other day and it works just great outside of Launchbox and the controls are straight forward and easily converted to a controller via something like Controller Companion. I am not familiar with making appropriate commands and the likes so I am unable to get games to launch straight into this little piece of poop via LaunchBox (if it is even possible). I imagine not many would care about VMU and understandably so, Though, anyone? -
That is very interesting and great to know as the first game I tried was very jumpy indeed but the following games were less so. Thank you very much.

I feel like that lady right now, embarrassed and ashamed of myself but happy that I can partake in the comfort of the delicious food Dreamcast games.

Despite all this great help on the forums and a few other tutorials I am falling short on getting the SEGA Dreamcast up and running. AtomisWave and Naomi are working fine in the separately created emulator I made on LaunchBox called Demul (Arcade) but Dreamcast won't work. Here are some screenshots which will hopefully help someone more knowledgeable lend a hand and fault find: I followed the Unbroken Software tutorial on YouTube but it did not show exactly what files BIOS wise needed to be included, just the folders and zip files they were in. I have got a ton of crap I wouldn't need but surely as a result of trying to find the right thing I do have what I need: As for the GD-ROM the only thing I have in my Demul roms folder that it accepts is a file: DC - Utopia CD Loader V1.1.nrg. When I launch a game in LaunchBox it gets no further than this: Can anyone see anything obviously wrong in my setup? Thank you in advance.
