For real...it never ends. Quakespam Spiked is nice, they look like much more recent maps.

I've built many arcade cabs including full DIY, kits & modding original. The most gratifying is DIY or modding an original but for my current cab I went with a company in GA called Monster Arcades. Full disclosure...they are not cheap, BUT after getting one I personally will never go back to the old chip board/OSB melamine type that everybody else uses. This thing is solid birch & rock solid. I couldn't be happier. Just my personal opinion. Cheers

Hi, well that was the original intent vs. just a "look at me" video lol, but the total pkg is like 80GB so I'm not even sure how I'd do that. Busy setting up my Sindens now but I'll get back on this afterwards. Cheers

Hi, just wondering if anyone has OBS recording working with TeknoParrot games? If so, any tips would be appreciated. OBS recording works with all the other emulators that I've tried but it just won't fire off with TP. I've tried changing the start/stop recording keys but no luck. Thanks, Piper

I put together a Platform called Quake Mods and have it setup in LB/BB, launching directly to each map/mod and playable with a controller (blasphemy...). These are user created maps (mods) for Quake. There is a very active community of map/mod makers for Quake and some of them are extremely talented, blowing the original Quake maps away. If anyone wants to check them out head over to www.quaddicted.com, almost all the maps/mods are there and it is a very neat and organized website. I have about 500 map packs setup, many with several actual levels/maps to play so I've probably got about 800-1000 maps launching. Quaddicted has somewhere close to 2000 I think... I'm using Quakespasm Spiked as the "emulator" it makes the maps look much better and more playable. I'm using screenshots from Quaddicted as my box art, made up some cheesy logos and used the integrated OBS function in LB/BB to record a video preview of each map. I recorded a quick video of it in action with BB... Cheers...Piper Desktop 2020.09.08 - 14.28.30.01.mp4

He updated, shipping out the first KS orders this week & has enough being assembled at the factory to ship all KS orders. IG orders follow that. I can't wait to slap these on my cab. Piper

I was snooping around Netflix & found a series called High Score about the history of the video game industry. Pretty interesting, i learned a few things. I didn't know that Nintendo's Kirby character was based on the lawyer that kept Nintendo from getting sued out of business when they were still a relatively small company. Worth a watch for any VG fans. There is a whole episode on John Romero/ID Software/Doom. Piper

BB_Brutal Heretic RPG HD3D.mp4 I love playing the old/original FPS games (Doom, Heretic, Duke Nukem 3D, etc) so I put together a collection of mods (user maps) for Heretic. In total there are almost 300 mods. Some contain a single level/map others are complete episodes with multiple levels..so in total there are probably 450-500 maps to play in this collection. I'm running the Brutal Heretic RPG HD3D port which adds hi-res textures, 3D sprites, gore and leveling/RPG element to the game (It's basically a version of GZDoom with some extras). To get this up and running.. You'll need to have the commercial Heretic - Shadow of the Serpent Riders installed. You can pick it up on Steam for a few $. 1. Unzip the Brutal Heretic RPG HD3D.rar into your Launchbox/Emulators folder and setup an emulator in LB called Brutal Heretic. Brutal Heretic RPG HD3D.rar 2. Put the Heretic Mods.xml file in your Launchbox/Data/Platforms/ folder...this will create a platform called Heretic Mods in LB. Heretic Mods.xml 3. Unzip the Heretic Mods.zip file into wherever you keep your games. - note that the xml file points to where my games are stored which is D:/Launchbox/Games/Heretic Mods/ so if you store games somewhere else just do a Replace All with your game location in the xml file. 4. Unzip the Heretic Mods - Images.zip into your Launchbox/Images/ folder to add artwork for the Heretic Mods platform. - I am using screenshots for Box artwork and I made up some (very cheesy) clearlogos for all the maps. Heretic Mods - Images.zip I also have video clips off all the maps but it's a whopping 22GB so I'm not sure how I would even share those..I just used the integrated OBS recording to capture these. Good luck and have fun. Piper Heretic Mods.zip

11.3-beta-8...and I'm Dead in the Water Again
PiperCalls replied to PiperCalls's topic in Beta Testing
Installed 11.2 over the top. At first launch updated to 11.3-beta-8. Everything is working fine, issue resolved. I went ahead & turned beta off for now since my PC seems to be having issues with the beta updates. Thank for the help!...Piper -

Thx I'll try that. Do I need to copy out any xml's or images/videos or will it leave all that alone? Thx -

11.3-beta-8...and I'm Dead in the Water Again
PiperCalls replied to PiperCalls's topic in Beta Testing
If your talking about the 11.3-beta-1 Released thread, that didn't make sense to post there since this isn't a beta-1 issue. If all issues with any beta should go in that 1 thread then I can post there. -
It just pushed out, install hung up stating it couldn't close out some applications. I selected cancel, it said it was rolling back. Now LB won't launch at all, if I try to launch it I get a spinning circle for a second and then nothing. Reboot doesn't help. If I try to launch BB I get an error msg about needing .NET core installed (which it already is). So...I redownloaded .NET Core 3.1 Desktop Runtime x64, tried to repair...nothing, uninstalled & reinstalled...BB still says it needs to be installed. Help...Piper

Ok will do thanks. BTW I set all the mods to run through Brutal Doom...it kicks everything up a notch, very challenging now. Great work!

Ok, thanks. Got it all sorted with the command line switches from the Doom wiki. Really enjoying this set. Quick question, you mentioned in the post that the artwork was complete but I seem to be missing a lot of the logos, etc. Did I miss something? Honestly I wouldn't even expect artwork with a set of mods but just wanted to make sure. Thanks again...Piper

This is awesome. Thanks. Question, it seems that GZDoom asks which DOOM iwad to use each time. I can choose one permanently but then when I play a mod that uses one of the others I have to choose again. Is there a way to specify which DOOM to use for each one? Maybe select DOOM2 as the permanent then change the launch parameters for the others? I have The Ultimate DOOM, Final DOOM and DOOM II all installed (from GOG). Any help is appreciated. Thanks...Piper

Wow @y2guru, just watched the video...that looks slick. Great work man! ? There is a feature that I've always wanted to see in a theme so I wanted to throw it out there is a possible feature request... In the GameList, it would be nice if the theme was able to show any Playlists that the game was a member of. The use case would be that as I'm scrolling along my games I might say "Oh yeah that game needs to be put into my Favorite 80s Shmups list" or something like that. Ideally it would be exposed in the CTC just like Genre is now, with the ability to either list them as text or show images. I don't know if this is something doable in CTC but I wanted to throw it out there just in case. Either way thanks for the slick app. Thanks...Piper

Transparent Arcade Cabinets > Calling an Army of Photoshoppers
PiperCalls replied to Mr. RetroLust's topic in Game Media
Yeah if you're talking about those 2D images that someone created on the LBGD, I'm not a fan either lol. Ok sounds good, if when you do pick it back up & need any help let me know I'd be happy to assist. I don't have any real Photoshop skillzthatkillz but I would be happy to help out with any grunt work. Thanks...Piper -
Transparent Arcade Cabinets > Calling an Army of Photoshoppers
PiperCalls replied to Mr. RetroLust's topic in Game Media
Ok understood. I noticed someone posted a psd template & I was thinking of taking a shot at a few of these. If you have a list handy of what's already been made & care to share to avoid dupe work, that would be great. If not no problem. Thx...Piper -

PiperCalls replied to Mr. RetroLust's topic in Game Media
Hi, this thread is pretty old...just wondering if it went anywhere? I have a theme it would be perfect for. Thanks...Piper -
I got the 3D Box issue sorted by opening it in Community Theme Creator and changing the data type. I also fixed the platform logo box that was running off the left side of the screen. The only issue now is that when I open the theme in the creator, it doesn't have the game fanart background anymore?
-
Love this theme but it seems to have a couple issues (at least for me with 4K rez): "Glass" version... 1. In the gameslist, it only shows the glass background/effect in the upper left of the screen 2) Also in the gameslist it shows the developer twice, once where it's supposed to and the other one is rammed up into the game title If I switch over to the regular version (just RetroFresh) both issues are not present but it then won't show 3D Box artwork, it's just blank where the box goes. See below... Thanks...Piper RetroFresh Glass... RetroFresh...

Neon Deluxe Arcade - 16:9 (Big Box Theme)
PiperCalls replied to Mr. RetroLust's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
Thanks for fixing the vertical clearlogo issue so quickly. I dl'd 1.4 and was still having issues but worked around it. I think BB doesn't know what to do with vertical (or round in my case) clearlogos. It was still blowing them up really bad but they weren't as fuzzy looking with 1.4. I did some tweaking on the logos and got them to look right. My logos were 600x600....I scaled them down to 400x400 and then expanding the canvas (transparent) to 600x400 and this did the trick. I think BB just wants to see horizontal shaped clearlogos lol. Thanks...Piper
