nmc
For those who use retroarch and have the configurations saved for each emulator you can set this command line in launchbox, it will load directly the core with your personal configurations. -c configs\............ Ex: -c configs\fb_alpha_libretro.cfg
bd00
I don't actually use Retroarch, but can you elaborate on this please nmc and I will add it to the emulator settings post. Thanks

nmc
For those who don´t know Retroarch is a multi-system game/emulator Here´s a list of emulator´s integrated in Retroarch: Arcade FBA Mame 2014 Atari 2600 ( Stella ) Dosbox Game Boy Color ( Gambatte ) Game Boy Color ( TGB Dual ) Game Boy Advance ( Mednafen VBA ) Game Boy Advance ( Meteor ) Game Boy Advance ( VBA Next ) Atari Lynx ( Handy ) Neo Geo Pocket/Color ( MEdnafen Neopop ) Nes Famicom ( bnes ) Nes Famicom ( FCEUM ) Nes Famicom ( NEStopia ) Nes Famicom ( Quick Nes ) Nindento 64 ( Mupen64plus ) Nintendo DS ( DeSmuMe ) Nintendo DS ( DeSmuMe-future ) PC Engine/Turbograph16 ( Mednafen PC ) Playstation 1 ( Mednafen PSX ) Sega MS/GG/MD/CD ( Genesis Plus ) Sega MS/GG/MD/CD ( Picodrive ) Snes / Super Famicom ( Bnes Accuracy ) Snes / Super Famicom ( Bnes Balanced ) Snes / Super Famicom ( Bnes Performance ) Snes / Super Famicom ( SBES9x Next ) Snes / Super Famicom ( SBES9x ) Various ( MESS 2014 ) Virtual Boy ( Mednafen VB ) Wondwerswan Color ( Mednafen Cygne ) <img src="" alt="App" /> It allows you to set all your game preferences in each emulator - shadders, video ratio/format, controllers, you name it the sky is the limit, like Launchbox. If for example you just want to use one emulator you will set the command line in Launchbox with the following: -L cores\fb_alpha_libretro.dll The fb-alpha is the emulator integrated in the retroarch, you will have to find the right core for the emulator you want to use in Launchbox, if you are using one emulator and have set all the preferences you like, those will be stored in the file " retroarch.cfg " and will be the default settings for all the emus... but i´m a picky guy and i like my monkeys in the right branches, so all you have to do after you set your preferences is to " Save New Config ", and it will generate and store a file with all your settings. Using the example above for FB Alpha, it will look like this: fb_alpha_libretro.cfg. Launchbox Command Line, -c configs\fb_alpha_libretro.cfg Now you can set all your emus like you want, save them and import them to Launchbox with all your preferences. And Game on This looks like a tutorial but if you want to give it a shot... please do but only use it with Launchbox. If you came across with any trouble, i will be more than glad to help you. Jason Carr
Thanks nmc. Great to know. I'll have to check out Retroarch. But just as a quick note, there's nothing wrong with encouraging other products (even competing projects) on these forums. I'd rather everyone find the best solution for them, and keep working on LaunchBox to adapt to people's needs.
airbikecop
This is a LIFE saver, I have Retroarch setup for all of my systems, the only console systems I do not use it for are: 32X - Kega Fusion, don't care for picodrive PS1 - Mednafen, yes there is a retroarch core but it doesn't support guncon/justifier/mouse currently, once support is added (if it is, then I will switch) It gets a lot of flak (Retroarch) but if you save each emulator settings to their own config, it works great! Jason Carr
Indeed, I've learned to love Retroarch.
martinboudreaux60@gmail.com
This used to work great but I upgraded to retroarch 1.2.2 and its no longer working. is anyone able to launch from a config file with 1.2.2?
SentaiBrad
I haven't had any problems upgrading and I am on 1.3.0.
flylear45
Here's a helpful post that dovetails with the latest video on the Launchbox tutorial Youtube site. Just when I think I have it figured out I find a new way to blunder. http://libretro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4912
martinboudreaux60@gmail.com
not sure why but this worked for me, I know the other way should also have worked. param for core specific, default config file --libretro cores/picodrive_libretro.dll param for config spacific --config mupen64plus_libretro.cfg
SentaiBrad
Yes, that is what -L and -C in associated platforms is.
Drybonz
I may be missing something, but Retroarch has always seemed to auto-detect the core and load my per-core settings without needing any command line changes.
Jason Carr
Drybonz, agreed. I'm not sure why it would be needed as it should be automatic. Though there might be situations where it helps, I'm not sure. Can anyone clarify?
flylear45
Sorry I can't help there. I do have an idea that I think would make Retroarch better for us, but can't log on to give input. I have multiple controllers, and it would be GREAT if I could identify and configure them all on Retroarch, then have it prompt me on starting a game which one I want to use. It is frustrating at the least to have no choice other than to unplug everything except the one (s) I want and hope the controller gets recognized correctly. If anyone knows a way to do this let me know. If you think it's a good idea and have access to the ears of the makers, help me out!
SentaiBrad
Sadly no one from RetroArch to my knowledge has contacted us, but we would be more than happy to talk with them and try to help integrate some things with LaunchBox. As you surmised though, this would be more of a RetroArch thing. There are things we can do on our end to help with multiple controllers, but what you are saying would most likely best be left to RA devs.
Drybonz
I think the controllers thing is a Windows issue, but I'm not sure. I recently started a thread about looking for help with conflicting Xbox and other USB controllers. I don't know if there is a way to fix it without having to unplug and re-plug everything. As for Retroarch, I cannot post there either because they won't send me an account activation email or respond to my "contact us" emails on their website. acidbottle
Firstly, love launchbox, quality quality launcher. My issue is with launchbox and retroarch, of which I assume there will be little support since they have differing authors. However, I noticed a tutorial vid in using this program with yabause/Saturn emulator in retroarch. I have tried everything but cannot get launchbox to recognise any roms whilst having retroarch as the emulator of choice. I can set up yabause no problem and run the cd roms fine. Fancied the retroarch emulator since it has a few gfx filters that may improve the Saturn visuals in full screen. anyone having issues or anyone experienced the same using the 2 applications? Thanks :)
