Switch Changelog: v1.0.3 (8/30/2017): - moved the GrilaControlLibrary.dll to the theme Plugins folder, which is an added feature since the theme release (the .dll will still need to be un-blocked before launching BigBox) - fixed the large outline bug reported by @jamesclarke555 (thanks again for reporting it to me) v1.0.2 (5/2/2017): - redesigned Text Games View (thanks for the inspiration @NahuelDS) v1.0.1 (4/21/2017): - Dark version added v1.0.0 (4/20/2017): - Initial release Theme Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Switch is a very lightweight, clean theme that was designed to be as close to the original UI as possible. There isn't much artwork in this one: banners for the platform wheel view, covers for the box game view, and a video snap in the game details screen so it should run pretty smooth on low spec systems. It includes a custom control library that I've started to build that contains the battery status indicator as well as a separate 12 and 24 hour clock (since we can't change the format of the built-in one without changing Windows settings). Theme Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * Requires the file GrilaControlLibrary.dll to be un-blocked before launching BigBox. Make sure to do this for both the light and dark versions of the theme. * Utilizes the font Oxygen-Regular, which is included in the root theme folder. Install it before running this theme. * Designed for 1920x1080. I can't guarantee it will work at any other resolutions (really only the platform wheel), even in the same aspect ratio, because of the margin that is applied to the wheel to get it off center. The box game view and all text views are NOT affected by this and will work at any resolution, although text spacing and some other misc. elements may not look as perfect as they do at 1080. * Included is a sound pack for BigBox. Move it from the theme directory to LaunchBox\Sounds and select it in the BigBox options menu. It can also be downloaded here https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/467-switch/ * I've included some extra buttons and controller images along with the .PSD and .AI files to edit them if you feel the need. The extras can be swapped out to fit your system by simply copying them from the extras folder to the core image folder and renaming them. The file names have to match what's in the XAML, so you'll need to overwrite or delete the ones you are changing. Filenames are controller.png, play_button.png, and back_button.png. I tested it on my main PC at 1280x800 (lowered from 1920x1080, so it was kinda blurry) and also on my MacBook Pro under Parallels (which happens to run scaled to that resolution, so it was nice and crisp on the Retina display) and everything looks good. Let me know if there are any quirks on your tablets and I'll see if I can iron them out. Also, the video snap has been replaced with a screenshot as @neil9000 requested. The one in this thread is only for 1280x800. Also, I just tested on my own machine: if display scaling (Windows display options menu) is set above 100% they will not line up. @neil9000 this may have been the original issue on your tablet since I'm sure the display scaling is above 100% (being a tablet) 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You are of course absolutely right, I have my main system at 100% and never even gave it a thought on my tablet. Just switched too 100% and it fits perfectly, so chalk that one up to me being dumb, apologies. I did however try that other view just before you posted and that seem to work great at 125% so may stick to that for usability's sake on a screen that size. Thanks again for all your hard work. @Porl Hendy Its pretty good with this theme, it can struggle quite badly with other themes, but this theme is both beautiful and lightweight so not to bad at all, although I don't have many systems imported. As for emulation pretty much anything I have in retroarch has worked pretty well, even N64 if you keep it at native res some games you can even bump up to 720p. The only issue I had was ps1 in retroarch, it wasn't good at all, but I put pcsxr on it and that was much better. Don't have the space for ps1 games on the tablet though so I deleted all that and just concentrated on 8 and 16bit stuff which as I said works great. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
LSystem Posted April 22, 2017 Share Posted April 22, 2017 This is a wonderful theme, I did make a tweak to show the game box art instead of a video/screenshot in the text view though. My only two wishes for the theme would be another view like text-view that shows all the special icons for fav/star/portable/finished and a easier way to tweak the background color for bb_logo.
