Let's discuss the new HD 3D boxes!

Hey Folks,

 Edited to better express myself

 I am happy to see this influx of new media (HD / 3D boxes), and i wondered about something.

I wondered who prefers these that resemble the originals:

and whom prefers these:

They look awesome, but personally i prefer those that resemble the original boxes. 

What do others think about these boxes? What is your preference? Why?

I mean I wouldn't have them in my collection but what does it matter they are someones artistic vision of the box its either take them or leave them so I really don't understand the question.

Yup, no one is forced to use them, don't like them ? Don't download them, pretty simple.

I absolutely don't mean to disparage anyone's opinion.  I just was curious about people's preferences.

Well personally I like them, and am using them with the Unified theme.

I agree,  they look great! I have been using them as well,. Would you use them if there were decent versions that resembled the originals

I personally don't like 3d boxes at all original or other style.

I think having both versions of the 3D boxes would be great as having more choices is always good. I am sure that both versions would be a hit as people have different taste.

I rarely use 3D boxes mainly because there is really no consistent view.  These do look great and offer one heck of a unified look which is the great thing about them. Not my taste, but happy to see them being made for others. Kudos to those generating them. Keep up the good work.

This was my thinking when I started producing these 3D models. Unify is the key.

I think they look great in the Unfied theme personally, but of course at the end of the day it comes down to personal tastes.

They definitely shine in Cids theme.

While I generally like 3D boxes, the one thing that usually keeps me from using them is the lack of coverage for the systems I have. For instance, I have the original TRS-80 and Tandy CoCo in my system list, and they rarely are supported with media. I then have to try and reverse engineer a template if I want their inclusion in a common theme.

I think they're great but I prefer the authenticity of replicating how the original box would have looked. 

With that said, why not both? Since both methods look great, it could just be another option. Thanks for all the hard work in creating this media.

I prefer the standard 3D, followed by the ol’ box-front. I’m not a fan of the HD 3D ones myself but it’s good they’re there for others. Variety is the spice of life, so they say. & by “they”, I mean the teenage crab monsters from Vector-7!

True to the original all the way - either 2D or 3D. I'm not a fan of fan-made boxes etc, though these can be useful if the original box art is not available.
