legolas119
hi, i noticed that with LB 1.15 it is possible to use multiple video files. Very good Before this update, when LB downloaded a video, it put it in Video folder, naming it "name of the game.mkv". If i wanted to add a theme, i added the theme in Video/theme folder, naming it "name of the game.mkv". Now, with LB 1.15, it seems that LB name the video snap in this new way: "name of the game-01.mkv". So, if i want to add a theme video, have I to name it "name of the game-01.mkv"? thanks! Retro808
The -01 is not required. It is just how you would name if you had multiple files for the same game. So if you had 2 videos you would name them "Name-01.mkv" and "Name-02.mkv". The video file will still play if named the with the numeric value. When you download inside the LaunchBox UI it will use that convention to make sure the next one downloaded is -02 and so on. I would use the -01 just to keep things in line, but again, it is not required.
legolas119
ah perfect, understood i have loaded a multiple disk fro Amiga, as I have previously done for example with psx games with multiple iso. and after the import, it seems that both disk are correctly imported: and here: but the multiple disk icon is missing: Is it normal? The game start, but now I have to understand how to save in FS-UAE emulator the "Drive Count" option. By default is it "1", so the game can correctly load because it requires Disk 2 too. I need to save Drive Count = 2 for Shadow of the Beast, and in this way i suppose that I can correctly run it also from LB...

As an FYI the updates to Mame are not related to the LB version, but simply when the team has been able to update the file. So the Mame data at times can bet updated even if LB had not gone through an update.
legolas119
perfect thanks. Before to start the update in LB, is it better to perform this action in LB, am I right? Help --> Force Update Game Database Metadata
legolas119
hi, i have a coule of questions, if you can help me: 1) is it possible in LB to detect which are the duplicate games? I mean: is it possible to know which are the games present in LB on multiple systems? For example I know that I have configured "Ikaruga" both on Dreamcast and Naomi. Is there a way to know all the games which are present in more than one system? I would like to avoid duplicate game also in order to save space on my hdd 2) Very ofter in media section, there are more than one image with same type. I mean: if I have a game with 2 "fron-box" cover, how can I prioritize them? As workaround, I change the image type (for example I change it to front box reconstructed) of the one that I don't want to see as default. But I don't know if there is a more correct way to do that.. thank you!
JoeViking245
Hopefully some else can elaborate on question #2. As for question #1 1 hour ago, legolas119 said: which are the games present in LB on multiple systems In the upper left hand corner, Select Platform and All and then where it says "Search" type in what your looking for. i.e. ikaruga
legolas119
thanks, I'm sorry, I didn't explain very well my question #2. Well, yes I know how to seach where and if a game is present in one or more platform. But in this case "I altready know the game". My question is: is it possible to know which games, in my LB installation, are present in more than one platform? thanks

Not really, because there is no way of knowing if a game is a port of another game or a completely different game with the same name. 2 examples off the top of my head would be Shadowrun and Aladdin, both of these games have a SNES and Genesis version but neither are ports, they are different games. So you either have to remove the ones you don't want to show, or put them in an unrelated category so LB keeps them but doesn't show them (I use Fanart-Cart Back since don't use that for anything on my setup). legolas119
hi guys, is it possible to update MAME romset 0.224 on the last LB release? Unfortunately I don't know how to understand when LB is ready to be updated to the last MAME fullset Currently I update LB with MAME 0.222, but I have my mame fullset updated to the 0.224. thanks
sundogak
@legolas119At least as of 11.5 Beta 4 it is updated to 224. Sadly there is no easy way to tell without diving into the XML file (see below how to do that) since there is no version indicator or date when updated. Typically, it is updated relatively quickly after release from MAME side (i.e., within a few days to week). It has been mentioned in some other threads that would be useful to have this indicated but as of current version not a feature. You can always go to the Help Menu and do a "Force Update" of the database which includes the MAME.XML file that is used for import to make sure you have the most current before you do an import. With only minor additions in each version it isn't a big issue if you have a 224 set and run an import and LB is still at 223, as an example. You just won't get those few games that are "new" (or if they renamed a ROM from old set to new). You can always drag/drop the rom if you have something you know you want immediately added pending update of the XML. My method is I just update my MAME set and rerun the full importer a week or so later since like said, it doesn't cause any issues if LB is a version lagging at that point and in most cases by that time is updated. If you really want to know if updated, you can look at the MAME.XML in the ...Launchbox\Metadata folder. Then do a search for the one of the new games that are listed in the MAME "Whats New" text file under "working" (the non-software listings). For example, the 224 added Sector Zone clones are in the XML file I have as well as the Zookeeper bootleg. As you look at that new listing though and assuming say you don't import any casino games, there are only a handful of games that would pop up as new that are non-software sets. legolas119
many thanks! Just one question about MAME again: when I update it in LB, which is the best way: 1) choose the platform --> right click -- >Delete. And then Tools --> Imports --> MAME Arcade fullset , unchecking all the download media box. At the end of the import --> select ALL the games --> Tools --> Download Metadata and games --> choose the recommended option 2) select all the MAME games and delete them. After that, Tools --> Imports --> MAME Arcade fullset , unchecking all the download media box. At the end of the import --> select ALL the games --> Tools --> Download Metadata and games --> choose the recommended option If I'm not wrong, with both these way, I have every time to manually change the Parent tab for every Child playlist... not os good...:( And this question about another game, Axel City COmplete: in order to run it, it is necessary to install this program (https://xupefei.github.io/Locale-Emulator/) and then run the game with right click --> Local Emulator --> Run Japanese. Is it possible to run that in LB automatically, with the doulble click for example?? thank you Edited September 11, 2020 by legolas119
