  1. Absolutely brilliant obsession! I don't know that I will ever do this myself but I really love your dedication to getting the look and feel the way you want. The FlipPDF viewer reminds me of the desktop app EGM used to use. For a time in the early 2000's you could get a digital version of their monthly issues and it had the same kind of page-turning features. I'm glad to see FlipPDF recreates that kind of effect! Well, I don't have anything to add or ask of you, just a great idea and love your detailed write up!
  2. Three years later, I second this obscure request. A flag for loop: on|off would be great. I've been thinking it'd be nice to have a familiar sound effect or jingle play for each game instead of a whole song.

The goal of Hands-On is to display physical information about the game you're playing without having to exit the emulator. It was first designed with arcade games in mind so if all your media is in place you'll see control diagrams, the game's physical control panel, an image of the full cabinet as well as 'Clear logo', 'Advertisement Flyer - Front' and 'Platform Clear Logo' all on one screen. Rather than show your controller mappings -- Retro808's Game Controls pause theme is excellent for that -- I just wanted to better see how many buttons, sticks, or pedals an arcade game had and what it physically looked like. Coincidentally, while working on my theme Antny released their Transparent Control Panels pack which provides exactly the kind of true-to-life, close up images I was aiming to incorporate. Really worth grabbing if you like the idea of my theme. What about consoles and handhelds? That's where the setup gets a wee bit more complicated. I didn't find that there were a lot of game-specific control images out there so for consoles I focused on showing the hardware, controller, and cart/disc. Case in point, until I started working on this I had no idea the Virtual Boy had buttons on the back of the controller! Having that kind of reference at hand really helps keep in mind the hardware you're emulating. To accomplish a similar look to the arcade side I've created two separate directories you'll need to copy over named 'HW_Console' and 'HW_Control'. These contain my incomplete set of custom images based on my personal preference. But good news: since they're separate from the directories that LaunchBox scrapes you can freely replace mine with any hardware images you'd like without screwing up your existing setup. Most of mine came from Evan Amos who has provided hundreds of high quality images for Wikipedia. I hope to keep expanding the console and controller selection over time as a separate release. Look for it here. How to set it up In the zip you'll find the following folders and files: Hands-On Pause Theme v1.0 README.txt LaunchBox Images HW_Console HW_Controller PauseThemes Hands-On Pause Theme Fonts (be sure to install the included font) Images Default.xaml These are the folders that need to be placed within your LaunchBox install. 'HW_Console' and 'HW_Controller' folders go into your Launchbox\Images directory. 'Hands-On Pause Theme' goes into your LaunchBox\PauseThemes directory. Finally, go to LaunchBox > Tools > Options and under 'Game Pause' select the new 'Hands-On Pause Theme' entry. You're ready to go! NOTES on the theme's behavior: I never use the menu options on pause themes so I condensed them down to a single line at the bottom middle of the screen. Press up/down to cycle through the options for Save, Load, Achievements, etc. The arcade cabinet image sits on top of your arcade clear logo. This is intentional to keep the cabinet images at a good size while making the platform logos more visible for consoles. It's not my favorite thing but I couldn't figure out how to hide just the arcade platform logo. All of the images look much better if you can get transparent PNGs. Cabinet photos seem to frequently have solid backgrounds so they look a little odd. Pause Often! If you have more than one image scraped for LaunchBox's default types the pause theme will cycle through them. I couldn't find a way to control this behavior but have grown to like the surprise of different images. For consoles the theme pulls both a cart image and a disc image. If you somehow have an image of each type for the same game, they'll both be displayed on top of each other. See below for how to edit that. How to customize it Simply replace my 'HW_Console' or 'HW_Controller' images with whatever PNG files you want. Make sure they are named exactly how your platforms are named in LaunchBox. My versions have a shadow pre-applied to match the other images in the theme so yours might look a little flat. The theme only supports PNG files by default. If you'd like to use JPG instead, edit Line 133 and Line 156 of Default.xaml to replace the '.png' with the file extension you're using. If there are any elements you don't like or don't want to see, open the Default.xaml file and delete them. Don't want to see cart or disc images? Delete the section below <!-- For Consoles: Disc Image -->, etc. I tried to label everything as clearly as possible. If you're looking for great sources of controller, console, and platform images check out these releases. They're fantastic and expansive! Dan Patrick's Platform Logos Professionally Redrawn AsparagusTrevor's Controllers - Outlined Colour, Controllers - Stencil Platform Images, and System Media - Stencil Sources & Design I use Juketsu's Slipstream Startup Theme so I based mine on their matching pause theme. It's fairly heavily edited, mostly retaining the font, color, and default background image. Thanks Juketsu for OKing my reuse of the files. 5. Sorry to hear that @djweevil666. Take care and best of luck to you and the family! Take a look at this guy's Flickr account when you can. Not scans but very high-res photos of loads of Intellivision stuff. Here is a direct link to Zaxxon: https://www.flickr.com/photos/13839114@N00/49918201977/in/photostream/ Otherwise, these are still the only 2 scans I could find: http://www.intvfunhouse.com/coleco/overlay/zaxx-000.jpg http://www.intvfunhouse.com/reaper/overlay/zaxx-350.jpg
  6. That's gorgeous! I was finally *playing* some Intellivision games yesterday and went looking for a manual and found another site I hadn't turned up before: https://annarchive.com/intellivision_overlays.html has what looks like a more consistent, somewhat higher quality set of overlays. Previously I was using these http://www.intvfunhouse.com/overlays/table.php which has a lot of variations and revisions as well. It's been so long I'm not sure where my set of ROMs came from and how they got to be titled the way they are.
  7. Thanks for the comments and your patience getting it set up, I appreciate it. I personally like bezels to be very dark and not distract my eye from the game as much so I made them much darker than Mr. Retrolust's original. Sorry that first image was deceiving. I'd love to spend more time some day finding really good scans of all the overlays but I had a hard time finding many at all while working on this.
  8. Glad to hear it! Do let me know what you think when you get to try it out. This is my first submission of a bezel pack.
  9. I just reuploaded a new zip file. The old one extracted for me but I hope this works better for you.

This is a complement to my recent Intellivision controller images upload. It adds those controller overlays to the fantastic work of @Mr. RetroLust and their fantastic Lights Off bezels, specifically the 1970s CRT. I did do some editing to their bezel -- lightening the reflection, flipping the bezel horizontally, darkening everything, and adding the appropriate channel #3 -- but got their approval to include it in this release. Many many thanks to @MrRetrolust for their work and inspiration! How To Set Up Included in the zip download are all the image and config files you'll need, stored in the folders you need to copy them into. Note that your game files need to have the same naming structure for them to automatically show the bezels. My titles are based on the way LaunchBox scraped the data when I set up Intellivision so you *should* be good if you did the same. retroarch\config\FreeIntv These files tell Retroarch to automatically apply each overlay when the game is launched, so you don't have to manually set each one. retroarch\overlays\GameBezels\Intellivision You may need to create the GameBezels and Intellivision folders. I believe several other bezel packs also utilize this folder structure. These are the images and config files for each game. If you wanted to tweak any of my designs, this is where you would do it. Sources & Design The image of the Intellivision controller comes from Ricky Romero on Dribbble. I edited it to cover the game overlays somewhat realistically and add some shadowing effects. There are additional darkening and shadow effects applied to the on-screen overlays so they don't stand out quite as much. The overlays themselves come from various sources but were mainly copied from intvfunhouse.com (and by extension, Psycho Stormtrooper and the LaunchBox Games Database). Very little editing has been done to the overlays to clean them up. Some received a basic sharpening, some blemishes were cleaned up, and the tops of a few were split apart so the titles show more legibly above the frame. These are NOT meant to look 100% exactly like they do when nestled in a real Intellivision controller. Unique Overlays Most Intellivision games came with two identical overlays for Player 1 and Player 2, but some ambitious releases used unique designs and functions across multiple overlays. In these cases you can see an additional controller peeking out from behind the front one. That's an indication that there are more than one overlays for that title and you can find the rest in my Intellivision controller images upload. Mr. BASIC Meets Bits 'n Bytes Melody Blaster Microsurgeon Triple Challenge (Checkers, Chess, Backgammon) USCF Chess World Series Major League Baseball Games Included I did not create an overlay or controller image for demo, test, prototype, unreleased, or homebrew titles. 11. Thanks! I made them to be used on a pause theme that I'm still working on but it spiraled from there and I actually have full overlay/bezel set for RetroArch coming up. Attached an example of one of them with CRT-Geom shader. Happy with how it's looking but wanted to provide the images by themselves too.

The FreeIntv core does a great job of making the Intellivision's unique controls accessible on modern pads. But even with easy access to all the buttons, I'm always wondering "which ones does this game actually use?". Scans of the overlay sheets, in wildly varying quality, are easy enough to find but I wanted something a little more unified and true-to-life. So I went through 135 original Intellivision releases and made these side-by-side images of the left controller with the overlay and the right controller without (or featuring unique overlays for a couple specific titles). Sources & Design The image of the Intellivision controller comes from Ricky Romero on Dribbble. I edited it to cover the game overlays somewhat realistically and add some shadowing effects. 13. Ah, that makes sense. And a lofty goal, I hope you get there one day!
  14. Perfect timing! I have just been working to make my own pause theme to show exactly this kind of control panel imagery. Thanks so much for the hard work! One question, the zip extracted multiple versions of what looks to be the same image. Some have 2 clones, some up to 7, some have none. Just curious if this is by design or if Windows screwed up extracting them or something.
  15. Just figured out how the xaml layout works today and have worked up something I'm pretty happy with based on @Juketsu's Slipstream theme. What I'm hoping is possible is a sort of fallback so if 'ArcadeControlsInformationImagePath' isn't found then load 'ArcadeControlPanelImagePath'. I'm not sure if it's even built to accommodate that kind of thing. Thanks for any suggestions or pointers!
  16. About 3 minutes after downloading Default Plus it's SO much easier to work with. lol Thanks again!
  17. Wow! That's like 90% of the way to what I've been trying to do all around. 🤦‍♂️ Thanks for pointing that one out, I hadn't seen it before.
  18. Thanks! I did make a copy first thing. I'll take a look at those other themes. Thanks for confirming it is at least possible, whether I'm capable of doing the same or not.
  19. Hi all, I was wondering if it is possible to replace the game title in the LaunchBox details sidebar with the clear logo. Similar to how Big Box will display the logo and then fall back to text for the title. I've poked around in the XAML files a bit but haven't been able to pull it off. Thanks for any suggestions!
Stylish, simple, and subtle. I don't usually go for themed overlays but these just look great! Thanks for all the work you did on these.
  20. That's great! Sorry I think I forgot to turn notifications of replies on so I didn't see any of this conversation going on in here. Glad you picked up on it pretty quickly though! Like Retro808 said, I just screw around with a theme I like until it does the things I want. Glad you were able to do the same!
  21. I did that in the settings at first but iirc it turned off the stars along with the 'your star rating', 'community star rating', and 'total ratings'. I just wanted to keep the stars and heart. I had read that about the fonts in your theme description but I'm oddly fine with Windows font settings in general but in LB it just felt like it needed to be bigger for my eyes.
