  1. You can already import GOG games through importing Windows games. Right now there is no easy way to import GOG games, there is no dedicated importer. Also what do you mean by non installed games? If you mean make a scan for uninstalled games, that wont come. How do you scan what you don't have? As far as manually adding them, you can do this. Bottom right there is an Add button, you can do it there. Its also there under Game -> Add, Ctrl + N works and if you right click in your library its at the bottom. If you have 1 or 2 GOG games you can also do the Add method and just manually point to it as well.
  2. Damn.
  3. You don't import or launch chd files usually. You use the parent rom the chd belongs to and the rom loads the chd.
  4. Quite honestly, I don't use AHK, so Jason is gonna have to help you on this one. However, it is becoming more apparent that I need to make a tutorial on AHK. There are also several threads already in the forums that discuss AHK to extent.
  5. I'm not sure, that will have to be an answer for Jason, I do know that its not come up much if at all. If users do use a controller to control LB its with a 360, PS3, PS4 or Xbox One controller which they also use in the emulators. I am unsure of how many people want to control LB with multiple controllers based on what they want to play honestly. It has never come up to me. I'll pass him along this thread though.
  6. As far as the controllers go, it gets complicated when you have more than one. There is no easy way to do what you are suggesting. The closest I have to come to your setup is I have an N64 controller setup in RA and it loads its controller config when I launch any game using that core. Otherwise everything else in RA uses my PS4 controller which is everything but DS and PS2 at this point. I've had controller support disabled for LB for a while since it causes crackling audio for me.
  7. Update and find out. You should always be updated anyways.
  8. Because the names are not formatted properly. The other ones were just lucky. "mslug" is generic enough for LaunchBox to leave it blank. If the rom name was Metal Slug then it would find it during the first import. The first one is a bit more strict so that it doesn't pick wrong games. It still can, but the more loose it is the worse it will be. I am surprised a manual search found something based on "mslug".
  9. When you go to Tools, Manage Emulator, are all of the path settings for the emulator you are trying to use correct? If its RetroArch, are your associated platforms correct? Do you have it using the correct core? When you Ctrl + A the set of games and you select Emulator you can change the emulator the games are using all at once. You can change any other settings that pops up, but in this case I want to make sure they're all set to use the right emulator.
  10. Are your path settings correct under emulator? Also if you've been changing emulators or settings around, Ctrl + A will select all of the items under a platform. If you edit that it will open up Bulk Edit if you need to fix what emulator its using or any of the other settings.
  11. X_X... I am just trying to make sure I make enough money to live... FML.
  12. http://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm This link and website are perfectly fine. I've used them for years with not so much as a fear of malware from them. The Standard pack should work just fine. http://codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_standard.htm Just click one of the mirrors. The way I keep my K-Lite updated, as well as most of my applications on my PC is by husing File Hippo App Manager. http://www.filehippo.com/download_app_manager That also makes things super easy, it never installs malware. Keep an eye on the downloads folder, it can get big pretty fast depending on what you're updating as it downloads everything to a folder. So just delete them after so long.
  13. Disabling the Controller options in LaunchBox wont effect your Controller inside of emulators.
  14. Also, try turning off the Image Cache and Controller Support in the options for LaunchBox. See if this potentially makes a difference.
  15. That's odd... you don't have a giant library. You should certainly be at 10%-20%, if that. Does it ever drop back down? What is the CPU Usage like when you use a new XML? To test that open your LaunchBox folder, create a copy of LaunchBox.xml then delete it after the copy is made. Open LB again and this can test it fresh. If you want to go back to your other XML with all your games you can just rename the copy you made back to LaunchBox.xml. Otherwise I will pass this thread on to Jason to see if he can come up with anything.
  16. If you are going to use RetroArch we have a video on our YouTube channel that explains setting it up and it goes over a lot of stuff. I am currently in the process of expanding the tutorials on there. One is posting today about Updating RA for example. PS1 and PS2 are next. Some LaunchBox specific ones are also coming. www.youtube.com/UnbrokenSoftwareLLC In the RA folder there is a System folder. You tell RA to look there and the cores will load the BIOS as needed. In other emulators, you generally tell the emulator what BIOS to use, so technically they can be anywhere you want them to be, but I keep them either in the emulator folder or in a folder with the emulator called BIOS. Personally I have it set up that on one of my large externals I have an Emulator folder. In there I have folders for each system. In those folders are Emulators and rom folders. You can set it up how ever you want, but that is what I do. Also, Emulators them selves are not illegal. BIOS however are, unless you rip them your self for personal use, and even that is a very grey area. They're developed by the manufactures of the consoles or a tech company was contracted to create them. They were then imaged or "ripped" from the console. Since these are mostly dead consoles, its not that big of a deal but its still technically illegal. So to make sure we cover our asses here we just don't link out to them. When the PS3 was being cracked in to it was a fairly big deal because that was a console that was being sold, was having games developed for it. The guy who developed this stuff got sued hard because he distributed encrypted information. That and a few iPhone cases are now why I can tell you modding your console is not illegal. It is actually deemed legal. Geo, the guy who cracked the PS3, only had charges stick for distributed the encrypted stuff but not for the act of doing it ironically. You bought the hardware and you can do what you want. You might violate your warranty... but that's something different. I have a Softmodded PSP and Wii. Working on PS2, OG Xbox and Dreamcast next. What you do after can be illegal.
  17. BIOS are what make certain emulators work. As a fore warning too, do not post a link to them in the forums. They are 100% illegal to distribute (unless someone reverse engineered and open sourced some BIOS... which I don't think has happened.). Since you are new to them I just wanna point that out. As for PS2, PCSX2, there should be a lot of BIOS for the system. There are Japanese, European and N. American BIOS based on the different regioned consoles. Some can be beneficial in some cases, but for the most part I've only ever used the latest American BIOS with a date of 2006. Unrar the pack of them in your BIOS folder under PCSX2. Go in to your plugin / bios setting menu and select a N. American BIOS. They should be labeled Japanese, Euro, N. American + a version number. As for Dreamcast, the emulators are so wildly bad I've mostly avoided them for so long. It's why I bought my real Dreamcast. There might be BIOS for each region, but there might just be one you need out there. It depends if Sega ever developed regional BIOS. I don't think they did... Anyways, in the Dreamcast emulator settings you just select the BIOS similar to how you did in PCSX2 but it will look different obviously. If you are using RetroArch, the BIOS to the systems will go in your System folder. Under path settings you will tell RA to look in your system folder so it knows where they are, or it will crash. The BIOS also need to be named something very specific. This has been covered on the forums a bunch before and I will be making videos for the LaunchBox YouTube channel regarding this in the future.
  18. 44khz wont make a difference. If you got your video from YouTube this is just the setting they choose to use. There is virtually no difference between the two. I do this for a living and I've put one of my one video's in there before. 720p, 8k bit rate, 320kbps at 48khz, 30FPS in an mp4 container and they work. My only suggestion is to run K-Lite Codec Pack if you haven't before. You shouldn't need to change any settings unless you want to change the default media player, which is fine. If any error messages come up, let K-Lite take care of them.
  19. They're not competitors per se, but the features they've been adding recently seems to suggest they donlt want any Front End's help. They've been bolstering their UI and adding front end like features, like a game library. Granted, that is LaunchBox's only job to do is be a front end so I kind of think LB does it better. Who knows in time they may be more full featured. I don't have any evidence to back up and say for sure they don't like LB, it would just be my guess.
  20. CliveBarker said SentaiBrad said We've discussed this before a while back actually. It would be very hard. Our current theory on how to make it work would be to start tracking when you launch a game and base it off of the name you have set for the game. However, how do you tell LB to stop? There would need to be a system to autodetect what emulator you are launching with that entry, then monitor your processes on windows to make sure it is accurate. However, if you change games while still in the emulator it will still think you are tracking the other game. When I realized that ROMs doesn't show as processes, I came to the conclusion that this could be imposible, of course I have a very limited knowledge in programming so you and Jason could come up with something. I think this feature would work better if it was implemented by the emulator itself. I don't think Jason can convince every emulator developer to implement such thing tho. Is it possible for launchbox to "read" what the emulator is doing? Thanks for the reply, and can I ask you something? I am playing a lot of rpgs lately and I am actually finishing them to completion. So can you link me to the thread where you showed your RPG? I want to play it but I can't find it. Just shy of developing an interpreter for each emulator (which in some cases can be illegal based on their license), making a fork of each emulator (again, can be illegal) or convincing developers to potentially come back to 5+ year old projects... no. Our best bet would be RetroArch. Working with them to get some sort of time tracking implemented... but that would probably not happen. I am sure they know we exist, I am sure they want nothing to do with us. xD Also yea! My RPG.... I haven't worked on it in a few weeks actually... I feel really bad about it. Between making videos, working for a Client and working for Jason + my Wife and Life... dear god. http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/51120-invention-destruction/ That is the master thread now and my thread here on the forums just points to there. If you want to talk about the game you can add me on Steam if you've got it or I can find the link to the thread here.
  21. Well Desmume doesn't require BIOS, so that isn't it. Are your path settings correct? Are you loading the proper roms? You could try making a new config for the Desmume core and have it load if it fixes your problem. Otherwise I don't recommend the Desmume core in RetroArch. I do recommend the base emulator or the fork of it. The fork is called DeSmuME X432R and performs a bit better with the option for internal scaling. It is the one I prefer to use. http://www.geocities.jp/gponys/desmume_aa.html This scaling technically exists in RA but... "The latest development version of RetroArch DeSmuME core also has an option to increase internal resolution which can be set using desmume_internal_resolution in Core Options. This option was added in August 8, 2015 commit. This is massively CPU-intensive because only SoftRasterizer exists in RetroArch core." So it is more CPU intensive than X432R would be and you can't get it to load anyways... The only known way to enter full screen is with Alt + Enter. This is a common combination, but there is no command line argument to start the emulator in fullscreen.
  22. The CRT Filters don't change much in the way of internal resolutions they just make the game look like it was being played on a CRT and the ones I like to use change the internal resolutions. When you're scaling things in a game through an emulator if one thing looks better but another thing does not there could be a good reason for this. In Mario 64, there aren't that many textures. The textures you do see you notice because they wont scale the same way as say, Mario's model or the Castle. Look at Final Fantasy 7. Scale it to x3 or x4. The models will look great but the backgrounds still look a bit muddy. The backgrounds are pre-rendered and essentially one giant texture with the character models drawn on top. Peach's Letter, the Grass in OoT, Text Bubbles all are textures. When you get lines or blurriness while you are trying to scale it is probably because it doesn't know really what to do or the scaling is not set up great for a lot of textures. Different types of texture filtering or no texture filtering can help. It depends on the emulator you are using. I changed the texture filtering in Mupen the other day and it made lines in Mystical Ninja go away (I cant remember if I turned it on or off.). Play around with your scalers, shaders and filters. Some work great for some emulators and some not for others. Creating a new config for each platform then having LaunchBox load them when you load that core will make it easier. You can save the configs and have them auto-load.
  23. We've discussed this before a while back actually. It would be very hard. 24. If a Japanese game is in the DB some users may not have done it right. There is an "Alt name" box that you can put the English name in. If they do that, LB should be able to still find the game if you search the Japanese or English name. However, since a lot of these games are obscure (i have A LOT of them too) there just doesn't exist entries for them. Wikipedia helped that a little bit, but its still not perfect. I even had to add a lot of Japanese games and DOS games myself to the DB. I gave up eventually and just manually added images for a lot of my Japanese games. Also, there is no standard when it comes to naming. It is partly why It is more confusing. TV Shows get away with this a little bit because there is an accepted format by Kodi or Plex. Just get FileBot and tell it to name the show that way. That doesn't stop disputes of what season is what (I am looking at you American Pickers) and that can still get screwed up. There likely will never be a standard either sadly.
  25. On a related note, after fiddling with WINE, .Net doesn't want to install properly and mono isn't sufficient as a replacement... I tried to get it to work and it just will not load. Made a new virtual install for it and everything. Sorry.
