Ok, I just tested an FLV file downloaded from YouTube (240p for ease) and it ran just fine. Blazing Lasers (U) was the game name and I just renamed the Video that in the proper folder under LB. Video -> TurboGrafx 16 -> File. I went over to it and it worked. My problem never got fixed of crackling audio so I never bothered to try to use this, but I tested it, it does work. My suggestion is test another FLV file you downloaded, test a converted FLV to MP4 or completely uninstall K-Lite and remaining files (I suggest IOBit Uninstaller for that), restart your PC and run the latest install of K-Lite Standard Pack or the pack from CCP, Standrad equivilent. Edit: And I just tested a 1080p MP4, same video. Both working.

K-Lite is the suggested codec because it works with everything and FLV is a basic container. The incompatability we're theorizing has to do with LaunchBox being incompatible with FLV files. If I recall jason is running K-Lite. CCP Is also a doable codec pack, but I prefer the settings, options and codec error fixing K-Lite provides. Can someone else with an FLV test this?

I use a program for general renaming, not neceserilly for this specific task, but it is fantastic. http://file-folder-ren.sourceforge.net/ If you were asking for TV Shows / Movie / Anime naming, I'd point you towards FileBot. :P

If they're purchased from EmuMovies, lets not share them at all. We do not want them to get angry at us and try to get the site taken down. Not that they would or someone over there is a jerk enough to do it, but if they're offering a paid service they might be able to take action against users circumventing that. Like I said, Any Video Converter (you shouldn't have to pay for) will convert your videos easily. The settings might take a bit of tweaking, and I can certainly walk you through it. It's not too daunting, just the process might take a while if there are a lot of files, so leave it on over night.

Why are they in flv? They really shouldn't be. They should be in mp4 or avi ideally. There is software out there that can convert the video, it might be a good idea to test out converting a video and see if that helps your situation. I use a piece of software that sounds and looks generic and like it wont work, but it surprisingly does. Any Video Converter. http://www.any-video-converter.com/ I don't remember if this installs things silently when you install it, so you may want to keep an eye out. If you have Malwarebytes Antimalware by chance then it should block it from doing so. The crap it can install is easy to get rid of either with the default windows uninstall or something like IOBit Uninstaller; I like the IOBit Uninstaller in AdvancedSystemCare because it scans afterwards and deletes left over files, but its not required by any means just my preference. If that sounds like too much (though if you do a test, have your settings the way you want then you can just batch convert all of them quickly) then download an mp4 or avi to test and see if one of these works. If so, then its the flv file. By the way, flv is a Flash Video standard. It's honestly outdated... even for flash. I can get YouTube videos in mp4.

How to install and run 16-bit games on 64-bit architecture?
SentaiBrad replied to CadetStimpy's topic in Games
Not to mention Diablo 1 and 2 are 32bit applications. -
Oh, I totally missed that. I am tired... Either the settings are not correct, the volume is down in the Windows Audio Mixer (either the specific app or your entire sound?), the rip of the disc could be bad or the cue sheet is not correct.

What emulator are you using?
-
If I need to edit the XML I use Notepad++. Actually I use that for pretty much everything because its super light weight.

They're afraid of a massive lawsuit. I kind of dont blame them, but at the same time they don't have time for some commonsense. Even if someone had some over there, all it takes is a boss to say "I don't care shut them down."

My RPG is called Invention Destruction, come play and test it please!
SentaiBrad replied to SentaiBrad's topic in Games
I'm trying to get graphics, music and scripts out of the way so that I can move full speed towards creating the world. It is super hard doing it alone. I mean hell you get that Jason. :P -

Big Update! Mostly internal. Music has changed, some graphics have changed and scripts are jumbled around and RTP data should no longer be needed. A lot of house keeping, making sure everything I have is for comercial use to the best of my ability and documented. I am working on the game past where the Prologue takes you, you just can't go there yet. I am also working on proper links and pages for Indie Game sites so that you guys can follow progress there if you'd like. Thanks to all who have played it thus far. -
Some of the data on the disc may be written oddly, copy protected or written in such a way that loading just the image might give some odd errors. The cue sheet just provides exact information. Almost all error's I find related to cue sheets, assuming the file path / name's are correct, is music related. I wish there was an easier way. xD
-
I don't rename the files for the cue sheet reason, instead I'll just rename the folders which is why I am ok with using IsoBuster and it renaming all of my discs. ePSXe doesn't require cue sheets, but cue sheets can be superior as it can point towards multiple pieces of data. A Japanese rip of one of the DDR games will best illustrate this. So will some older TurboGrafx CD and Sega CD / Saturn games where there are music files in the folder as well. There can be compatibility issues if you loaded the image and not the cue sheet. RetroArch has a seriously steep learning curve, but once you're in and know what you're doing (like most anything) it's great personally.
-
You can edit a .cue sheet with Notepad++. In the case of one image file, there will be one directory listing. In the case of a game with multiple files (like music files) there will be several. You just need to make sure that it is set up correctly and pointing to the proper location. Most of my cue sheets say "FILE "CD.iso" BINARY". It says CD because I went through and created cue sheets for all of my games that were missing them using IsoBuster and it renames the disc during conversion. There doesn't necessarily need to be a full path inserted, but if there is it is probably wrong as its more than likely from someone else. Also, I didn't see you mention it, but all of the BIOS are named correctly too right? It needs to be specific versions, but also named properly.

Where did that statistic come from? Also, LaunchBox if I recall is already using the large address aware flag? Jason will have to correct me, but I am fairly certain we've had this conversation before.
-
I think there is something to be said about the user too. All too many times (even here, yes) a user will just say "your shits broke fix it." Or "Great update, here is how you fucked up." Sometimes just as brash. It happens everywhere because people have an over inflated sense of self importance. So part of it is on Jason, he's an amazing person but also users like you and I who take the time to figure out what we did and is going on so that someone can fix the issue. I found things no one ever found and vice versa. We all do something a little differently and especially a one man team let alone a companies team can't always create and find these issues. The applause go to both sides.

Cursory glance at the recent Beta's and performance seems to be very much improved. Editing goes way more smoothly. So far far so good.
-
They're the same platform but because of the name change it is probably throwing it off. GamesDB has it as Sega Genesis not Sega Mega Drive. So if you input it as Sega Mega Drive it will throw it off. This would most likely be the issue.
-
To unpack the game on the fly? No, no one has created that. Out of curiosity, are you using a high level of compression in WinRAR or are you using Fast, Fastest or Store? If you are using anything between Fast and Store, you might as well just leave the game uncompressed. It shouldn't give you much in the way of storage savings. Otherwise yea, right now you're going to need to manually unrar before you play a game.
-
No, not natively. With the Additional Apps feature under the edit dialogue and auto mount scripts that you can run for Daemon Tools this can be achieved. However, depending on the emulator you don't need to mount the disc with anything. For example, if you have PCSX2 you just launch an .iso, .img or applicable image file directly. There are only a few emulators that require the disc images to be mounted and most PS1 emulators don't need this (at least ones updated within the last 8 years or so) and PCSX2 doesn't require this either. I would also not suggest to do this as it will decrease performance on the more sophisticated emulators.
-
It's emulator specific not LaunchBox specific. I would not suggest you do this though, it can cause some performance loss. If you really want to though just add them like you normally would add roms in LB.

Removing emulators and other library-related issues
SentaiBrad replied to shock66's topic in Features
You can easily change the emulator associated with games. I'll switch between RetroArch and a Standalone all the time. Add the emulator you want, setup command line parameters if you need them. Once it is setup if it is not the default you use the Bulk Edit to change the games to use the new emulator. In this case on the left, select Sega Genesis. Once you are viewing all of those games, Ctrl + A to highlight every game then right click edit an entry. From there select Emulator then choose the new one. They should all use the new emulator. -
This is why I choose Windowed Fullscreen or don't use fullscreen at all personally. It's inherently broken a lot of the time with multiple monitors. Unless it has some alternate video options the only other way that might fix the problem but isn't really a fix would be to change your desktop resolution to the resolution of the fullscreen. That's not really a solution though. Sometimes there are workarounds, other times there are not.

This is a problem with Windows, Older Software, the Method of which the older software renders full screen mode and multiple monitors. The multiple monitors thing sometimes doesn't matter, but it usually does. Sadly, there isn't much that Jason can do to fix this. This is something that the Software / Game developers who make the program you're putting in to full screen would have to change.
