I use alt+tab to leave fullscreen but that doesn't actually help users who are committed to a controller only approach.

I was just curious if there were differences in the game as the one example list that it has a different corporate logo.

I understand you perfectly and when I mentioned the same exact name I was meaning the title in LB. This is the same as the PC Engine/TG16 scenario I mentioned as these games have different file names but they get the same title in LB. Yes it is very difficult to get the art to work right in this scenario and yes there should be an improvement in handling this. I don't have this issue because I had LB from way back from the even older image system that just changed recently where ever file had its own folder and titles with the same name were giving there own string of numbers to signify the differences.

Okay I have some SNES games that have duplicates but the only difference is a string of numbers after the title what is the differences and do the numbers specify which one is the newer version based on the higher value is the newer game or is that not how they do it? I'm making the dupes additional apps and want to make sure that the better/newer version is the main game.

Yeah the scenario of two games with the same exact name on the same platform isn't a common occurrence. I've run into this issue before when having TurboGrafx 16 and PC Engine games in the same platform and wanting to display the US and Japanese artwork together one of the major reasons I went to the split format for the consoles. It doesn't handle this scenario well at all.

If you install Visual Studio and work from there can't you get all those drag and drop and line positioning features. I had a class in VB and we built and designed forms constantly the design part is actually pretty cool until you have to write the code to make it work. We never worked with XAML directly but I would imagine the design process is similar (I could also be completely incorrect). I you are looking to seriously play I suggest you get a copy of Visual Studio instead of a plain text editor.

Brads MESS tutorial is super easy to get you up and running only things is you don't have to do your video settings like his I have mine fullscreen with the aspect enforce off you just have to turn off the info setting like he does and set the right directories.

Since SSF works without a bios is this even an issue? I don't know because currently my library is only US games except some Shining Force Translations that I know work. When they translate games do they switch the region also?

3 versions would work. If there is a better solution I don't know it I use this trick to handle a few emulators in LB (Demul needs different settings to run arcade and Dreamcast and I use it for DS to for differently rotated games).

It would work for certain games sure yeah having to set up your whole library maunually to do so not such a great solution.

I didn't notice that. I had sound and I think all of my Saturn games are one .bin one .cue so if the cue is just directions to the bin without any audio files I wouldn't think it would change anything anyway. Do others have different roms that include audio files for Saturn games.

While technically they are the same they aren't the same. I think the easiest way to decide this matter may be to hold a poll and let the community decide how they want to handle these systems democratically. This would circumvent the endless back and forth of differing opinions and allow the majority of the community to decide the issue.

I just noticed that on PD they have both the MAME software list and the software list chd's available to grab (which I am doing) a warning though the software list chd's is 1.35 TB in files size 600GB alone are Saturn chd's (is Saturn even playable through MAME/MESS). I don't know how this would help in LB though as unless you had a way to parse the names that the software list is using against the titles of the games none of the games would come out correct. I don't know if the use MAME naming would work against the software list or not but for some reason I doubt it.

Yeah like @SagaXIV said if you were to use ctrl+a to select the games you know you want to use the alt emulator on then you would just do a bulk edit but not with all of the games highlighted just the ones that you desire to use.

The tutorial was a great help got MESS running Atari 5200 full time now way better than the other alternatives I'm thinking of changing emulators for Coleco and Intellivision now too.

Wait I went camping yesterday and it seems like I missed a lot while hanging out in the woods contracting the Zika virus, do I see an option up in that list to mount .cue files automatically and if so is that on a per emulator bases as in it will make setting up SSF extremely easy?

Modern CPU, RAM and a SSD couldn't hurt but if your mobo only supports 2GB of memory that is where the main performance issue is. Go into Tools > Options> RAM cache and try turning it down a bit this has helped me with my tablets and mini stick PC improve LB performance.
