you will have to edit your media folders also to reflect the new name.

yeah you definitely want to use the name of the platform and not the generic word platform- 17 replies

If you go into the setting you should be able to specify a button for it in the controller settings
-
yeah networking between computers requires a password. If you are using Windows 7 which it looks like you are it requires the pc name to be different for each PC on PC's running Windows 8 and up you can log into all your PCs using the same Microsoft Account unless you for go using one and set up a local account.

Disc based games creating multiple copies in the platforms directory
DOS76 replied to CheekyDevlin's topic in Troubleshooting
Nah that theory doesn't sound right if you got it fixed that is great but it shouldn't have done that to begin with if you move the files into the folders it should only move each file once if you copy it in there it should still only make one copy of it. -
The Windows xml should be in the platforms folder`
-
If you go to the backup folder in LB does it have a backup for your Windows xml if so just use it to overwrite the corrupted file.
-
does it list a line number where the corruption is.
-
are you on the latest beta version of LB and do you have config loading in the command line there has been some changes to the program recently that had adverse effects if you had configs any chance we can see a image of associated platform list for RetroArch in the LB manage emulators settings?
-
No this can't be done as of yet but it was a feature on the poll and is supposed to make the cutoff and get worked on sooner or later.

Not sure about the second item but the quickest way to remove an emulator is to click a game under that platform and then click ctrl+a to select them all then ctl+e to open the bulk edit wizard from the 1st drop down choose emulator and then leave the second drop down blank and all the games will be set to not use an emulator anymore very easy right from the UI and no need to edit any xml. As for the 1st question I just ran a little test I went into LB and edited my MAME emulator and removed the command line for Atari 5200 then I exited out of LB. Then I went to my LB folder and went into Data\Platforms and choose my Atari 5200 platform and opened the xml and did the find and replace saved and closed NP++ then I opened LB again and even though I removed the command line from the emulator settings each game has its own custom commandline by adding that and they all launch fine. So yeah you will just add the platform MAME is looking for and the -media type after it and then save it close it. Then your next step would be to open LB back up go to that platform and change the platform using the bulk edit wizard. I can't stress enough to make sure you back up all the xml files that will be getting changed as I've only tested adding the command line not with then merging it to a new platform. I'm actually not sure if it will copy the commandline over to that this is all basically an unproven theory so as long as you make backups you can safely revert if it doesn't work as intended.- 17 replies

Yeah for the no intro tags that was just an example of how the consolidate works with multidisk games if the disc numbers are in the tags it will match if they are not in tags the difference of the disc numbers will make LB think its a separate game and not combine it. In your case the tags are irrelevant its the titles themselves that aren't matching so it doesn't consolidate. The way it is set up the consolidation tool doesn't see those 4 things as the same so it doesn't combine them but you notice that the European and Spanish version which have the same exact name as the 3rd example are all linked together how it would be expected. Now the fact that the alternative naming in the DB is good enough to rename them all Lego Batman Beyond Gotham is pretty good in itself and then there is that pesky French version and the way its linked to every game is just strange as you would think it would instead be its own version since its name doesn't match any of the games its consolidated with. If logic could be added to 1st use the matching naming and then as a 2nd pass look at titles from alternative names in the db it could probably fix this issue but that would all rely on Jason having any interest in correcting this issue. At that point you are at now manually consolidating those down to 1 game is pretty simple except then you will have 4 additonal apps for the French version. LEGO Batman 3 - The Game - Gotham kara Uchuu e (Japan).rar LEGO Batman 3 - Jenseits von Gotham LEGO Batman 3 - Beyond Gotham LEGO Batman 3 - Gotham e Oltre (Italy)
-
yeah I know they are the same game I'm just explaining why LB doesn't see them as the same game for combining purposes. Say I have a game with two discs and the part of the name that says Disc 1 and Disc 2 aren't in ( ) [ ] format then LB won't even combine them the combining matching is pretty precise.

Will games retain Command-Line Parameters when value is changed?
DOS76 replied to flatuswalrus's topic in Noobs
Okay did a quick search and it seems like all my platform xmls include that line except for 3 that I made recently so I'm going to assume that it used to be in the xml file by default but since then @Jason Carrhas removed it for some reason or another. Don't have any ideas on how you could insert that line over and over again in the correct space but I'm including a screen shot to show how it looks on mine. It the line right after the application path.- 17 replies

Will games retain Command-Line Parameters when value is changed?
DOS76 replied to flatuswalrus's topic in Noobs
Beside adding a custom command argument to each individual game no I don't think that there is. Hmm looking at the xml files for a platform you will see a line that says <CommandLine /> if you were to use Notepadd++ and do a find and replace you could probably search for CommandLine /> and then replace it with <CommandLine>platform -mediatype</CommandLine> and apply it to all the games that you wanted it for but you would have to do that 1st before combining them and like anything else I would make a backup of the xml file before editing it.- 17 replies

if you have the command line for each individual rom it shouldn't be an issue if you set the command line up in the associated platform as your image is showing then if you move them to a platform that uses a different command line than no that should break their functionality.- 17 replies

I take some of that back the end result of them all having the same name in LB as Lego Batman 3 Beyond Gotham is also something I can't explain either. I guess since they are alt names in the DB it attaches them to that game but since the names of the roms don't match exactly it doesn't combine them all properly.
-
See most of those results make perfect sense except the one. I have no way to explain, but take all the facing games for example they are being split into 4 games and yes they are all Lego Batman 3 but the parts of the title that are different shouldn't get matched as they aren't the same. So when you get a facing rom for the Japanese, USA, German and Italian version that makes sense to me due to the limitations of how it works, but why the French version gets an additional app in every version and not its own facing game makes no sense. The French version also has a unique name so it is very weird. The fact that the program makes an additional app for the facing game is also something I've never really understood but always just dismissed it as something not all that worrisome, but yeah from looking at that the French version is really the only anomaly there. The rest is exactly as what I would expect the results to be.
-
You may want to try all the gdrom plugins in Demul with the game they can effect what happens depending on the file type.

for me this is occasionally when opening the program or when it opens itself after an update although I've also seen what Monkus is describing with both of those emulators that isn't the same.
