  2. You need to setup the controller in the emulator / games. Launchbox / BigBox does not handle the controls in games.
  3. Manage Emulators > Retroarch > Associated Platforms Add a new emulator entry for Sega Genesis and select the core you want. Right click a game, Launch With > Retroarch > and click the core you want to start with.
  4. This is because you are using a pirated license or you edited yours.
  5. Since you have a G27 if you have the shifter for it and hooked up it might be better to map the navigation controls to the dpad and buttons on the shifter. The fix I believe was to deal with the issue of the pedal axis causing auto scrolling issues in BigBox.
  6. If you haven't updated to LB 12.15 try it out, there was a fix for wheel stuff in it. No idea if it will work for you or not though. - Improvement: A new Problematic Controller Compatibility option has been added to Big Box that improves compatibility with non-gamepad controllers such as racing wheels; this option disables binding axes (axises) that are often completely thrown off by pedals and wheels
  7. RA Mame core controls suck, this is why we always recommend using stand alone Mame. Typically the RA core devs remove all the controller code from emulators and let RAs controller layer take over. But for some reason or another they do not do this with Mame, I am sure they have a valid reason for it but in any case they 2 controller layers fight.
  8. Without any details or links to the patch I can only guess that you have the wrong version of the game the patch requires. I am guessing you are talking about this patch: https://www.romhacking.net/translations/1682/ ********************* PATCHING INSTRUCTIONS ********************* The ROM will need to be expanded with a program such as nflate first. Expand the PRG-ROM. Either apply the IPS version of the patch to an original Japanese ROM, or use a program such as upset (from byuu.org) to apply the UPS version. And I suppose you know not to apply it to a pre-patched ROM. This translation was tested on the 1986 version of the ROM, but looking at the differences between the two, it should be compatible with the 1990 ROM as well. (technically, the only visible difference seems to be the date on the title screen. The mapper code was also changed slightly. My guess is the 1986 version ran on a PCB with bus conflicts and the 1990 version did not. The 1990 version also contains a small additional routine that doesn't appear to serve any useful function: it reads from some address like $4420 that is believed to be unmapped and then follows with a branch with a relative offset of 0 (which again appears to be a useless instruction).
  9. Just so you are aware, it's not good to post a thread asking a question, get a response and then delete the thread just to repost the same thread with a new title.
  10. You need to map player 2 controls to the 2nd controller.
  11. Do your own build but please do not discuss those pre configured builds on the internet. They are illegal and often come from shady sites and you do not know what kind of software is bundled with them. Also this forum section is not for the discussion of such builds, it is here for people to show off their own. Thread locked.

  13. From what I remember and I could be remembering wrong CG is an Nvidia proprietary shader language where the devs and most people prefer open source cross platform which is why OpenGL and Vulkan is the more preferred shaders.
  14. This error means that you are using a pirated license or you edited your license. If you edited your license you can restore from a backup copy of your license or request a new one. If you pirated the license then you can simply purchase a legitimate license and drop it in your LB folder and everything will be as it was. If you feel there is some other error you can email support@unbrokensoftware.com
  15. There is also a recent YouTube video tutorial:
  16. Just tested a7800 v5.2 with a No-Intro rom and it worked perfectly.
  17. If you have a full rom set use the full set importer, just be sure to use a matching rom set and mame version. You can import the roms like other typical systems if you like but the full set importer is recommended if you have a full set. Use the normal ROM import if you have a smaller hand-picked ROM set.
  18. Well as I said, the graphics should look the same in eSPXe, Mednafen and Duckstation unless you have some video settings changed or using shaders. With 3D games you can up the internal resolution scaling with ePSXe, Duckstation and the Beetle/Mednafen HW core in Retroarch. This will make 3D games look sharper but 2D sprite based games with still look pixelated.
  19. I merged threads since this didn't need a new one. Yeah, Beetle / Mednafen requires your games to be in cue + bin format or CHD. Beetle / Mednafen and Swanstation / Duckstation are bother solid and are the best options. Neither is objectively better than the other in any meaningful way though a lot of people are on the Duckstation / Swanstation hype train. ePSXe is solid and looks the same as the other emulators unless you have some weird video settings going on.

    Snes graphics

Arcade versions of games will always look better than their console ports. We have a couple of threads here on the forums with recommended cores for different systems.
  21. Look for the mednafen psx core. It's the same core but in the RA GUI it's called Beetle but the core name is called Mednafen.

    Snes graphics

There might be something screwy with your settings making it look worse than it should. SNES, Genesis, TG16, NES and Mame games from the late 80s to early 90s all should look relatively similar.
