Good luck with it, generally with Mame / Mess you need to have the correct bios files and games that match the software lists that it uses to match up.
-
Depending on how old the version you are using is it should have it's own UI if you simply run the executableIt should look like that and you can select the system and it will tell you if it's available or not and if you got the bios files for it and they are recognized and correct or not.

Does it work outside of Launchbox ?

I like the idea of giving long term and high quality contributors having reduced requirements.

MAME Autohotkey script depending on platform?
Lordmonkus replied to mcfilmmakers's topic in Troubleshooting
Could be worse, the work around could be to have separate installs of the emulator More options for platform or even per game AHK scripts has been proposed in the "Small Things List" thread though so maybe we'll see it eventually. -
MAME Autohotkey script depending on platform?
Lordmonkus replied to mcfilmmakers's topic in Troubleshooting
If I am understanding you correctly the simplest way to setup AHK Script on a per platform basis would be to create different instances of your Mame emulator in Launchbox. You can setup multiple instances of Mame but name them differently for each platform and they would each have their own AHK scrip tab. You won't need to setup multiple installs of Mame at all, just add a new emulator and call it whatever you want (for example Mame Sega Genesis) and point it to the same mame.exe, then you would have a fresh AHK Script tab to put in whatever script you want. I hope this answers what you are asking, I am guessing you use the AHK script to call xpadder and a specific profile. -
Yeah when you get missing directx messages those are pretty self explanatory.

Can you run mame using the mame.64.exe located in your install folder ? If you can do that, select "Available" from the left hand column and then in the middle you should see a whole list of games, pick one and double click it to see if it loads. It will look something like this:

Glad you got it the way you like. Mame does a lot of stuff so unfortunately the side effect of that is it has to have more options and the more options there are the easier it becomes to get lost in them. -
None of the XBox consoles are worthy of being called "emulatable" at this moment in time, there are emulators for the OG XBox and XBox 360 but they not something that should be considered "usable". They do play a very small selection of games to a degree but very glitchy and not really playable.

Ok, after some poking around and playing with different things I can't say I have a definitive solution for you but I think I have something to hopefully set you on the right path. Start out by loading Mame on its own with no game loaded and you will be in the Mame UI, click "Available" on the left hand side and you should have a list of systems you have bios files detected for. With the system you want to configure selected, in this case the Channel F, then double click "Configure Options". Once you have the settings how you like double click "Save machine configuration". You can the close out Mame and you should then have a machine specific ini file generated in your Mame folder (possibly the \ini folder). When I did this it was in the Mame root folder where the mame64.exe was located and the file was called channelf.ini. You can then open that file in notepad and make any further and more advanced tweaks as necessary. I hope this helps you get to where you need it to be. -

I'm looking into some stuff I found that may be of some use, I will post back with anything I figure out. -

This is not something in Launchbox you would change, it's in the raster.ini file in the \ini\presets folder. Not sure if the settings you want to use are going to be the same for all the systems you are using Mame for or if they are just for that specific system. If they are going to be the same for all that makes life really easy, just edit the raster.ini file using notepad and save it. If they are going to be just for that console I don't know how to set it up just for a specific system but you can check the documentation for it here: http://docs.mamedev.org/advanced/multiconfig.html or if you wanna do it the ultra lazy and simple way you can make a separate install of Mame for that system alone and have it set up just for it. -
lol, it happens sometimes, glad you got it sorted.

It should work fine for most games, I say most because of course there could be some oddball games that aren't working properly but it works just fine with nearly 100 games in my collection. There used to be some problems with switching over to the analog controller but that got fixed a little while back. Are you on the latest version of the core ?
-
Don't get me wrong, Demul is a very capable emulator and is "pretty good" overall, you will be able to play most if not all games with very little issues. I was just saying in comparison to Mednafen, Dolphin and PCSX2 it's just not up the same level of quality in comparison but those other systems have a lot more devs working on them.
-
I almost forgot too, Dreamcast is probably the poorly emulated system of the whole bunch right now aside from PS3, especially when you consider just how long Dreamcast emulation has been a thing.
-
Yeah it needs time to develop and mature. it's always tough to judge emulators in their early development stages which is exactly what RPCS3 is at this point in time. Consider for a moment PCSX2 while it's "good" is a very "hacky" emulator and depending on your point of view is either very good or very poor. Saturn while it's the oldest system on your list only god what people consider "very good" emulation a little over a year ago. GC and Wii arguably has the "best" emulator of the bunch with Dolphin though Mednafen for Saturn is pretty damn good now. In comparison RPCS3 is in it's infancy still but it certainly is very impressive how far it has come in such a short time.
-
It's should be more than enough for PS2, Wii, GC and DC. It's just about right and even a bit more than enough for Saturn which is a pretty CPU intensive CPU but you will be fine. PS3 is the big question mark because it's such an early in development and very reliant upon speed hacks so it's difficult to say exactly how well that will perform.

Yeah, it's a trade off. I personally use Mupen64 core since it handles the games I actually care enough about to play just fine.

Nope, nothing you are doing wrong, it's just how it works to make the games look like they originally did. The benefit is it is the most accurate N64 emulation to date in terms of function and looks. You can read up more on it here: https://www.libretro.com/index.php/parallel-n64-with-multithreaded-angrylion-released/

You can do this Launchbox mode using the Audit tool.

Plugin Requests

Something like this for mame roms would be a bit tricky if using split sets (not sure about non merged) because of the bios files and whatnot but would be good for merged sets.
