The game pauses without it. Well at least in my use.

Game won't load in LaunchBox, works fine in mame
Retro808 replied to Armhunter's topic in Troubleshooting
Not sure what you mean by its looking for a full set of files. KI only needs the correct zip and chd file. Is it telling you you are missing files inside the kinst.zip? Gonna ask again as you never answered. What exactly is the file you say it is asking for? Technically LB does not care what is in the zip. Its only sends a command line to Mame to start the game. Mame cares about the game zip contents. Which is odd since you say it works in Mame. What version is your Mame and roms? -
Yeah nothing I can do about that. I was mentioned early on some games/emulators may not work well with Startups or Pause themes.
-
Ah. I stopped using admin in TP a long time ago. What games do you have failing to load?
-
Does seem pretty odd. Right now I have 49 games running through TeknoParrot and all games work with Pause option. About 5 of them give me the odd aspect ratio issue where the Pause Screen will be shrunk into the upper left corner. Outside of that all others stay fullscreen. I use "P" in LB for Pause and a two-button combo when in BigBox on the arcade control panel. I have gotten rid of all my old dumps of TP games this past month and downloaded newer ones along with keeping TeknoParrot updated. I did find a lot of the dumps I had were outdated. So not sure if that may be the difference.

[V 11.4 and lower] stucked during mame fullset import

I have not used the full set importer in a while. Your title says V 11.03 and lower. What other versions have you tried? -
Game won't load in LaunchBox, works fine in mame
Retro808 replied to Armhunter's topic in Troubleshooting
LB will only attempt to load the rom that you imported. That is unless you use the Full Mame Set import tool and do not keep a full mame rom set. What file is it asking for? If it works directly in Mame and not in LB that typically means something is not linked right in your LB. Is the path to the rom correct in LB and is it pointing to the correct emulator? Safe to assume the other Mame games in this particular cabinet work in LB? -
LB was designed to try and be as portable as possible. Therefore if you store all games, media, emulators in the default folders LB creates you can usually move the whole LB folder to another drive or pc and have little issue with it all working. There are some exceptions like games or emulators that may install to their own specified folder. The example you gave of the "Arcade" folder is one of those defaults. LB allows you to decide if you want to keep everything neatly in the default locations or go your own way.

Ah then something must have changed you used to be able to just select the item, hit the new button and it would change and I could not say when as I have not mapped keys in well over 2 years. I will check on it with Jason. Edit: 10.4 looks like there was a fix to the "clear" button options, maybe it changed at that point.
-
If you are changing the button you mapped to a different key than what you mapped before why are you clearing? Just hit the button to activate that particular command than hit the key you want it changed to. So lets say in BB for "Select" you have P1B2 currently mapped and want to change it to P1Button1. Just hit select on the "Select" field, you get the "Wait for 5 Seconds to Clear" notice. Do not wait, just hit the new button (P1Button1) and BigBox changes it. "Wait 5 Seconds to Clear" is just exactly that...it clears the field. It is not a clear and then remap. It is a "Clear".

Some fields have been disabled because Emulation is active.

Yes. The next window should then show the full path it will install so like Jason mentioned make sure it does not show C:\Users\TBTol\Launchbox\Launchbox That would be easiest, especially if you are keeping media, games, and emulators in the LB folder structure. I would recommend using FreeFileSync to then make syncing your backup easier after you make the first backup.
-
Connection issue on your end or maybe? Just tested the game and no issue with LB finding it. (latest version of LB).
-
Yeah, there are a few threads in this particular subforum about similar issues. Probably be worth a look in them. Like this one for example. May not be your specific issue, but the recommendations would be worth a try. The new LB went through a frame work update so this might be causing issues for people with older Windows or ones that have not kept it updated.

So you when you bought your license you chose specific dependencies that you paid for? Or did you pay for a product that you expected would be kept up-to-date and would constantly add improvements/upgrades? If you are not happy you are more than welcome to email support@unbrokensoftware.com and ask for a refund. Dependencies for a software to continue to develop is not bloat. Its necessary for the continued growth of software. Who knows why you are the only one mentioning it. Maybe other users understand the difference. At some point old hardware just cannot keep up and that is the nature of tech and software. Good thing is there are always alternative software that can run on antiquated hardware. As well as the option to roll back to a prior version or stop upgrades at your own choice. No, you just needed someone to come in here and clarify your misunderstanding of how things work. We were not the ones that needed to think things through. Immature is one who is not fully developed, like your understanding of software.
-
That's because this update had changed the framework so LB/BB could continue to develop. At some point in time all software needs to update its dependencies as the dependencies themselves change or update. It was not sudden. It has been quite a while since an update like that was needed. The change log sums it up: Improvement: LaunchBox and Big Box have been upgraded to .NET Core 3.1, which brings with it many advantages, such as better performance, increased security, and more opportunities for cross-platform support.

Huh, just noticed that. I think the .txt was left over from when I had my original games ran through RocketLauncher. Guess I will change it. This way I remember to not to do the .txt thing on the new games. -

Glad you are sorted, but curious how you are setting up TeknoParrot you need to edit those fields. I have a bunch of games running in TP and do not use those fields, plus they are greyed out since I am using TeknoParrotUI.exe as the emulator. Below is pretty much how all my TP games are set and running. -
\Launchbox\Data and edit the Platform.xml
-
What Mame are you using? The regular Mame (command line) or one of the offshoots like MameUI or Arcade64?
-
Some fields have been disabled because Emulation is active.
Retro808 replied to CaptD's topic in Troubleshooting
That's not an error. It is because those platforms use an emulator and the other 3 fields in the view are disabled when you use an emulator. If you have any games/pc games that launch from an exe you will see those fields are not disabled. Not sure why you have the same build on a different drive not show it. All the cabinets and the one I am building now show that. I cannot remember the exact version but I believe that showed up when the game edit screens changed. Here is a shot of a Mame rom and a PC game. -
I believe there is a fix coming for this.
-
That because you are trying to map keys under LB Controller options. That is for Xinput/Dinput game controls. Not for keystrokes. LB does not have a key mapper. That's in BigBox.
-
You can pretty much add anything you want to LB. Just import the shortcut link by drag and drop. When the import wizard comes up choose the option for "Other" as that will not require you to add an emulator.
-
Hopefully its not the board. Just wanted to mention it since I have used those boards and had some issues.
