So you when you bought your license you chose specific dependencies that you paid for? Or did you pay for a product that you expected would be kept up-to-date and would constantly add improvements/upgrades? If you are not happy you are more than welcome to email support@unbrokensoftware.com and ask for a refund. Dependencies for a software to continue to develop is not bloat. Its necessary for the continued growth of software. Who knows why you are the only one mentioning it. Maybe other users understand the difference. At some point old hardware just cannot keep up and that is the nature of tech and software. Good thing is there are always alternative software that can run on antiquated hardware. As well as the option to roll back to a prior version or stop upgrades at your own choice. No, you just needed someone to come in here and clarify your misunderstanding of how things work. We were not the ones that needed to think things through. Immature is one who is not fully developed, like your understanding of software.

That's because this update had changed the framework so LB/BB could continue to develop. At some point in time all software needs to update its dependencies as the dependencies themselves change or update. It was not sudden. It has been quite a while since an update like that was needed. The change log sums it up: Improvement: LaunchBox and Big Box have been upgraded to .NET Core 3.1, which brings with it many advantages, such as better performance, increased security, and more opportunities for cross-platform support.

Some fields have been disabled because Emulation is active.
Retro808 replied to CaptD's topic in Troubleshooting
Huh, just noticed that. I think the .txt was left over from when I had my original games ran through RocketLauncher. Guess I will change it. This way I remember to not to do the .txt thing on the new games. -

Glad you are sorted, but curious how you are setting up TeknoParrot you need to edit those fields. I have a bunch of games running in TP and do not use those fields, plus they are greyed out since I am using TeknoParrotUI.exe as the emulator. Below is pretty much how all my TP games are set and running. -
\Launchbox\Data and edit the Platform.xml

What Mame are you using? The regular Mame (command line) or one of the offshoots like MameUI or Arcade64?

Retro808 replied to CaptD's topic in Troubleshooting
That's not an error. It is because those platforms use an emulator and the other 3 fields in the view are disabled when you use an emulator. If you have any games/pc games that launch from an exe you will see those fields are not disabled. Not sure why you have the same build on a different drive not show it. All the cabinets and the one I am building now show that. I cannot remember the exact version but I believe that showed up when the game edit screens changed. Here is a shot of a Mame rom and a PC game. -
I believe there is a fix coming for this.

That because you are trying to map keys under LB Controller options. That is for Xinput/Dinput game controls. Not for keystrokes. LB does not have a key mapper. That's in BigBox.
-
You can pretty much add anything you want to LB. Just import the shortcut link by drag and drop. When the import wizard comes up choose the option for "Other" as that will not require you to add an emulator.

Hopefully its not the board. Just wanted to mention it since I have used those boards and had some issues.

I can tell you I have had random issues with some of the EasyGet controllers. I stopped using them. In one of my last cabinet builds I used the EasyGet in every so many select button hits it calls the select button twice. So if I hit select to enter into a platform I will end up on the Game Details screen of the first game. I had that USB controller for over a year and about 4 months in that started happening. Swapped it out for a new one and it went away. I tried the board that was having the issue in another cabinet and the issue occurred. So it was the board. I have had 4 show odd behaviors like this. Not saying this is what is happening to you, but if there is any way you can get another USB controller board or try the one you have in another pc it would be a good troubleshoot to confirm.

LB tutorial video on Teknoparrot? I do not recall seeing LB did a video on Tekno. Exclusive fullscreen might be the issue. I tested VT4 and Pause works. However, I have not altered any video settings other than to uncheck "General - Windowed" option in the Game Settings for VT4 in TeknoParrot UI. This runs the game in fullscreen, but it is considered borderless fullscreen. Not Exclusive Fullscreen.
-
Not sure about anything being in the works as Pause is in place. It has been advised it may not function well with some emulators and games. So far I have not had any problems with Pause working with my TeknoParrot games. A few games I get the odd aspect ratio image, but it still functions. Are you running the games directly in TeknoParrot or using any of the loaders sometimes associated?

I could not say. Works fine for me and I just tested on several setups. Especially since Arcade is the main reason I use it. Safe to assume your platform is actually called “Arcade”? What version LB are you on? The causes would normally be misnamed file, misnamed folder, or folder path incorrect to images. If all others work that we know it is not folder path. In your other post I just looked at it appears naming of files is right. You are using .jpg and not .png. So file type is not the issue.

Bigbox cinematix platform video for PS3 is not available?
Retro808 replied to Nexium's topic in Platform Media
It is still there. BigBox Cinematics are only downloadable from within Launchbox UI (>Tools>Download Platform/Playlist Theme Videos)- 2 replies

OK. So it is not what I thought. I have seen the builders make backups of the data xaml files and the platform xaml files and store them in these folders. Problem is LB will try to read both the original and the backup and cause conflicts. So in this case that is not your issue. Not sure what else to say. If this was a clean LB build we could dissect if easier. I will recommend this. Download a new LB installer from our site. Install it in a completely different folder. Copy and paste you license in the folder. Then just add 1 game and 1 platform (do not scrape the media) and test to see if those Image Priorities stick. If they do that should tell you for sure something is screwy in that other build.
-
OK. Yeah one thing we rarely do is troubleshoot prebuilds. We have no way of knowing what the builder did and if you did not build it yourself any direction we can take you will likely lead to dead ends since you do not know what they did as well. I am taking a shot in the dark here, can you post pics of the inside of the following folders? I think I might know what is up. Maybe..... 1: \Launchbox\Data 2:\Launchbox\Data\Platforms If it is not what I think it is your than we really cannot do much more.
-
The only way options would be locked is if it was a free version without a premium license. Where did you get the build?
-
Well using the "X" definitely is not going to work. It will simply for the changes. Hitting "OK" is needed. Not sure why when you hit ok that it does not work. Try making the selection to just add Box-Front and the use the "move selected up" option to move it right under the 3D Box listing and then hit OK and see what happens.
-
Are you clicking OK button to exit the edit window or hitting the X in the upper right?
-
Yes. Why would you not just nest it inside E:\Launchbox so the UI update will work and you do not have to keep manually downloading and copying data over?
-
That's your issue then. LB will always look to install to a \Launchbox folder. This would likely explain why the update from inside LB does not work as it is trying to find that \Launchbox folder.

The best way to share images is just add them in the post. At the bottom of the text field is the area to add images (see first pic below). The issue is you have your platform view set to display 3D Boxes. This image in your second pic is a normal Box - Front Image. You would need to edit your image priorities to allow Box Image to show up in the absence of a 3D Box image. >Tools>Options - Media - 3D Box in this section you can choose all the image types you want as fallback when a 3D Box image is not there. You can move them up or down to place them in order of priority.
