Mass editing is not that hard you just need to know which games you need to edit. How long ago did you import the roms? Mine has been in this set-up since early 2017. Odd that your play mode listing is only multiplayer. I really do not edit metadata at all. So I know it was not something I added. If you know all the games the meet 4-player simultaneous you can just CTRL-Click those games then choose edit. It will bring up the bulk editor. Choose the Play Mode field and then add "4-Player Simultaneous" to the edit. Then save. The playlist would then pick them up.

Easy to do. Just open BigBig and go to your settings screen. Options > Views > Default Startup View (Change this setting to Playlists)

Monkus definitely has greater depth of knowledge than me. Just to compare though here is a snap of my platform xaml and it looks pretty much the same as yours. I have never done anything fancy when importing roms and creating platforms. Standard process and then just do a normal scrape for data. He may have been talking about the platforms game metadata. If the metadata for the games does not contain the "4-Player Simultaneous" data then the playlist will not populate. The games that I have in the pic earlier if you have them imported right click on each of them and make sure it has the metadata in that field populated.
-
That is all you should see in the xaml since it is only the relevant data to build the playlist. It will not show game data. You should be able to just drop this in the Launchbox\Data\Playlists folder (make sure LB is closed first) and then open Launchbox. I just dropped it in and it populated 14 games.

I would first try launching a GameCube game from Retroarch directly on this new setup to make sure it works there. If it does double check the rom file path to make sure where Launchbox says it is matches the drive letter and folder where the roms actually are. Is the whole setup kept portable by having everything (roms and emulators as well) kept in the Launchbox folder structure? You likely already tried this but it was not mentioned.

Just an FYI, but the text behind the ; is just informational. You do not need to change it or have it all. You can just copy and paste everything from the $Esc:: and down.

Yes .bins work fine. I just tested. Did you install Stella in your pc through the installer option or the zipped file download? Reason I ask is the zipped version has 2 Stella exe files. One for 64bit and for 32. Do you only have 1 exe? Just want to make sure you are pointed to the correct one or to only one. @AgoustBolchz
-
I tried both zipped and .bin files on mine and it works. Also the zipped version did not need the unzip check box ticked. I was thinking the same as Dos so tested. I am not sure. Stella was a breeze to set up. Just a few clicks and the import is pretty straight forward. If you right click a game and choose "Open Stella" does it at least open the Stella menu? Or right click and choose launch with Stella?
-
@neil9000 Thanks! ? @AgoustBolchz I do not see anything glaring in your images. The setup looks good and none of those boxes in the 3rd pic need to be checked. You did say the games will launch in Stella directly correct? And you did not move the rom location when you imported them into Launchbox right? When I set Stella up for the first time it asked for the rom path. I would open Stella exe and make sure the rom path listed matches the rom path showing in your Launchbox.

Can you share a few pics. 1. Right click a game and choose edit. Share an image of the Launcher and Emulation tabs 2. Go to tools>manage emulators and choose to edit your Stella set-up. Share a pic of the Emulator Details and the Associated Platforms tabs. I do not have systems for stella loaded but I just did a couple games and installed stella with no issues.
-
In the associated platform tab of the emulator (in Launchbox) does the platform name match exactly as the platform name you have listed in Launchbox? If it is not there or not spelled/called the same thing you have listed as a platform in Launchbox it will not launch.

@eatkinola that would be great if you could take a crack. I just noticed that in the default theme what I am looking for can be done at least. So there is some hope. In the pic the arrow is pointing to the custom field I set. My hopes is the same can show up in the Unified or Unified Redux in the area in the pic from my other post. If spacing is an issue in the Unified Redux theme I would not mind seeing about editing the xaml to remove the publisher info. Or at best just seeing if it can show up in the game details screen if that would be easier.

@tomkdesign Glad you're all sorted.

When you run mame64.exe with out a game and save your settings it will generate the mame.ini. But that may not be your issue since you are using the command line version. In the associated platforms tab of that image you shared. Do you have Arcade listed there? Whatever the name of the platform is that you imported your mame roms into needs to be listed there and it needs to be the exact name you have in Launchbox. From the video it looks like it is "Arcade" but hard to tell since it is cut off.

Yes to the wheel fade question. The steps are posted in this thread. See page 7. No to the left side wheel. Cid advised it would require a bit of work to rewrite the theme and at this time he is not planning on working on that. I think he mentions it in the first few pages of this thread.

What Mame are you using? MameUI, Arcade64, command line If your Mame.ini file is located in the ini folder copy it and paste it into the maind folder where the mame64.exe is. It is a know issue with any version of mame other than the actual command line version.

Is it freezing in Launchbox Next or BigBox (or both)? I do see you said BigBox, just want to confirm as I do no think the new release affected BigBox. The changes were just for Launchbox. In Mame what do you have your video set as? (auto, openGL, d3d) Reason I ask is I had the same issue. It would freeze exiting Mame on any video setting other than openGL. During the last betas Jason was able to have us test a few things and they fixed the freeze I was getting. Oddly enough it is this stable release that Jason added the changes. Can you try changing your Mame video to openGL if it is not already set to that and see if it still freezes.
-
Did you import those games by the exe file or from a shortcut? I had the same issue and it ended up being a few games I imported using shortcuts. In a couple games I deleted the shortcut from Launchbox and the games folder than generated a new shortcut and pointed Launchbox to it. That fixed a few games. On the others I had to just link Launchbox to the actual exe file.
-
Thanks @Jason Carr I will post out in the subforum and see what info I can get.
-
This was something a few have experienced in the betas. I have as well but the last beta and this new stable release fixed my issue. Does it do this after exiting all the emulators you use or just certain ones? Also does it do this every time or randomly?
-
@Jason Carr Is it possible to have the theme show a custom field in the area shown in the pic? I added a custom field to tell my kids if they use the "Joystick" or "GamePad" for a particular game and would love for it to either show here in the main game screen when it scrolls to this data section or at least have it show in the Game Details screen. Control Method: Joystick Control Method: GamePad

Launchbox.Next.exe Entry Point Not Found
Retro808 replied to Retro_Master's topic in Troubleshooting
How about a little more details? Was this in Launchbox, Launchbox Next, BigBox. What where you doing when you got the error? Opening the software, launching a game, importing a game, editing a game, etc... -
@KenSweep Yeah I missed that line in your post. ?♀️ ?
-
@KenSweep I believe the box flip thing with 3D images is just something not functioning in Launchbox/BigBox at all. If you are in Launchbox and have views set to 3D box it will not allow you to box flip there as well. I believe it only works with 2d box and 2d carts. I have no expertise in knowing if this is something can can be worked around and coded into a theme.

Is it just the exiting of emulators that doesn't work? Does the controller work in BigBox for things such as moving or selecting items? Try enabling "Use All Controllers" in BigBox.
