  1. I cannot elaborate on the question you have about titles not being imported as I rarely ever mess with region or clones settings. I just import the select rom files I want for the games I want. So on that point I can answer your question on importing your filtered roms. To do so simply use the import by file option (>Tools>Import>Rom File) and choose all those zips. Or you can go into explorer and drag and drop all those zips into LB. Doing either version will bring up the standard rom importer and not the Full Mame Set Importer which leaves out all those region, clone, and non working check boxes since the set is curated.
  2. Thanks for posting the write up. The xml file method has been on our forum for a while. Its been mentioned in more than a few posts but usually buried in the pages. So it is definitely nice having it in a clean thread. That txt method is definitely old.
  3. Here are couple options. The first one is nice as it shows the specific romset it was built off of. One here. One here.
  4. If you edit the xml files for the views you are using in the theme there should be a line of code with a viewbox containing GrillaBatteryIndicator text. You should be able to delete that line of code. Backup the xaml files first in case something messes up.
  5. @J2chulo No worries. Not really arguing, just clarifying wrong assumptions or implications. ? MameUI and the others are just offshoots of Mame that have a nice graphic interface (there are some other small differences). So they work the same and are worth using, but on a few rare occasions their updates broke with LB so best to just use regular Mame. Not saying do not use the others, just be mindful. Plenty of users still use the offshoots. As far as other systems like CPS1, 2, and 3. All those roms are in the Mame romset and you can just run them in Mame. The roms for Naomi are in the Mame set as well so you can pull those to run in Demul. There are some batch files on our forum that will easily copy out those roms from a Mame set into unique folder so you can import them as individual platforms. I will see if I can locate the links.
  6. I stand corrected on that point. However you implied it to my statements which is incorrect to do. I will respectfully ask you do not imply things that are not there. You made an incorrect implication against sound recommendations and input. Which is usually the case when people imply or assume things. There you go again implying or assuming I did things. All I did was disagree it is not hard and explained what makes people think mame is hard. Truth of the matter Mame is only hard due to the user trying to do the odd rom pick and choose. Yes, I did exactly what he did and initially thought Mame was hard. Went through the same frustrations. Then I came here and mods and users told me honestly that I am making it harder than it needs to be and explained why. So this is the same I do for any user going through the same thing. You assume I have no empathy and then apologize assuming it might not sit well with me. I have empathy which is why I choose to be truthful with a new user and not tell them Mame is hard when it is not. Funny how j2chulo never once complained or assumed I blamed him or implied he was stupid or lazy. Only you did that??? I will make a recommendation this point is now beaten dead and can be laid to rest. Anything further the thread will be locked. @J2chulo We are here to help so any issues just ask away.
  7. Agreed. That part is the pain...the rom mixing and matching and all those crap sites. However, that has nothing to do with Mame. That has everything to do with the user. You will get it sorted easily. We have great users and mods here that will help along the way so do not be afraid to ask for assistance/guidance. Nothing wrong with the attitude Mame is in fact easy. It just takes reading or watching a video to see that. We even have a Mame for Noobs thread that keeps it easy. Perpetuating the myth Mame is hard is a worse attitude. Not arguing it can be made complicated, but prefer to let users know it is actually not and to show them that. No other emulator emulates so many different consoles, arcade boards, and systems like Mame does. Before you say Retroach...Retroarch is not an emulator. The cores it runs are the emulators. Thats why Mame needs all those different things. It offers different romset so users have an option of how they want those roms that aids in space saving. Do you care to pinpoint exactly where I stated this? I have been nothing but professional and honest with my input and recommendation. I would appreciate it if you do not put words where they do not exist. I implied nothing. You were the only person to imply anything.
  8. I have to disagree about Mame being either a nightmare or a pain. Users make it that way by going to random sites and downloading this rom or that rom and expecting the games to work. Mame is one of the easiest emulators to set up. 1. Download a known good mame rom set (full mame sets always best since they have all the support files needed) from a trusted site and match that mame rom set version to the same mame exe version (does not have to be exact, but it is best practice). There are about 60-70 games that would need a CHD, but not all of them are ones most people would want to keep so find the few you need and download the individual CHD. 2. Launch the mame exe and set up your controls then save the changes. If you do not put the mame roms into Mame's rom folder then change the rom location path in Mame. If you do this in the Mame UI without running a game mame will save the .ini file it needs. 3. Launch a game and play. That easy. If the rom set you downloaded was missing other files for games to work than I would not get a rom set from that site. Missing CHD is expected, but missing support files like bios, qsound, or other support zips from a mame set means that set is trash to begin with. Get a set from Pleasure Dome or even Archive and you will be good to go.
  9. My recommendation is do not worry about LB import to begin with. First setup your emulator and roms and test them in the emulator. Make sure the games work and your controls are mapped. Then import into LB. This makes troubleshooting easier. If the roms work before you import into LB, but they do not work when launched from LB we eliminate it being an en emulator or rom issue.
  10. Right click the platform name and edit. In the Parents tab make sure you do not have 2 boxes checked. If you have one check under root and one under consoles that is why it shows up twice. Uncheck the one you do not want.
  11. Questions on using the tool are best posted in Y2guru's support thread in the 3rd party sub-forum. If you watch some of Faeran's video you can see how he builds themes and he gives tips on using the tool. He also provides the theme templates to load and modify as well. The theme creator tool does come with a couple pre-made themes you can play with. To test your theme you do have to publish it.
  12. Can you share a pic inside of the folder you dropped the videos in (showing the folder path as well)? If they are in the correct video folder and named correctly they should work. Pics go a long way to seeing what could be wrong.
  13. Should be able to adjust that easily. In the theme's folder go to the \Views\Styles folder and right click+edit the Nostalgia.xaml. Go to line 123 and change the Setter Property for Hour12 from "False" to "True". Yes I am aware of that which is why I mentioned it was a possible option. Unfortunately for users such as you this theme requires either a fix from Eatkinola or hopefully something from Jason.
  14. I just got done testing to confirm and it works fine on several set-ups. So hopefully no issues for you either. The theme’s issue is with its reference to VLC. Since it is not needing access to VLC you bypass the issue.
  15. Just an FYI, but one possible fix is if you change your BB video engine to Windows Media the theme still works. WMP is actually the recommended setting for this theme, but VLC is the recommended setting for BB. So if you are dead set on using this theme, there is at least an option until a fix is done.
  16. I'm not, most user's posts I have seen on our forum are for vertical orientations of a 16:9 monitor. You could always use the Community Theme Creator and make your own theme. Look in the 3rd party Released subforum and the Community Creator tool is there. It is pretty easy to use to make a theme.
  17. There are two on the first page both have "Vertical" in the title. 6th one down and the 19th one down. I think there was another one. https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/category/2-big-box-custom-themes/
  18. Merged threads. @YGT Please do not post the same questions in either multiple threads or start a new thread for the same issue you already posted in. Your new thread had nearly the exact title as this one.
  19. Right click the platform category name and edit it. In the "Sort Title" field make a custom name that will place it alphabetically where you want it. That sort by title does not show up. It is just used in the sorting. You can call it something like "ZManga" as you mentioned and it will now show up at that end of the alpha sort. The name that displays will still just be "Mangas" or whatever the unique name is you have listed.
  20. That change in how the name looks when you right click the game does not matter. I have the same setting and it works. I cannot see the full name of your platform in the Associated Platforms tab. Just double check the spelling. You would not believe how many times a typo in that field was the issue.
  21. The box with the core name in the LB Associated Platform tab is a drop down list. Just click in it and it will bring the list of cores you have downloaded. If they run in RA and not in LB that usually means a setting issue in LB. Nothing from the images seem off. Your platform is actually called "Nintendo Entertainment System", correct? The name on the Associated Platforms tab must match exactly the name of the platform you imported the games into. When you right click and edit a game is it in fact pointing to Retroarch as the emulator to launch it?
  22. There is probably a couple ways to do this. Easiest is in the metadata of the game you can tag them as broken. Then in LB "View" menu you can uncheck the item for "Show Broken Games". You can bulk select these games and then edit them to change to broken for more than one game at a time.

First question: Do your games run directly in the emulator without using LB? If no, there is your biggest issue. If yes, then it is a LB setting issue. Check to make sure the name of your platform you imported the roms into is listed in the associated platforms tab for the emulator set-up in LB (the name of the platform must match the name you enter in the Associate Platforms tab). Post a couple pics. 1. Edit your emulator in LB and post a pic of the Detail tab and the Associated platforms tab. 2. Edit a Mame game and post a pic of the launching page and the emulation page.
  24. Pick a most recent one and test from there. You can always go further back if needed. As to why it happened that could be many things, but usually a corrupt xml file means LB/BB was closed abruptly and it could not save data on closing properly.
