  1. It may be comparability too. I would imagine the non-HW version, running at all default resolutions is pretty accurate. Though, I have some roms that freeze at loading screens. I was thinking about starting to try some other cores... but I too like having minimal cores if possible.
  2. All I know is that the HW version allows for using your GPU, while the other version doesn't - software only. It makes a huge difference for upscaling resolutions and textures, etc. I think your assumptions are probably correct.
  3. Thanks! This is awesome... thanks Jason and GreatStone ?
  4. I can't answer that question, but it does remind me that I set my default.cfg to 'read only' due to MAMEs annoying default to wreck your controller settings if you unplug a controller when in MAME, or start up without the correct controller attached. The only reason I bring that up is because I was thinking someone could just set their cfg files to 'read only' to keep you from changing them. Or, maybe it changes them temporarily to allow you to play, but does not overwrite the file....?
  5. @Jason Carr I set up individual CFG's for each MAME game that I play... about 200. You really have to for games like Defender, Stargate, and games that have weird controller layouts or games that just have a poor default button layout ... and some fighting games that were were not set up correctly by the original devs. I also have a default.cfg that I have set up for when I play games that I have never set up. I think that default.cfg may also be used for other controls, like coins, start, etc. FYI - It looks like the spinner/dial settings are also stored in CFG files. I have a bunch of those set up per game too. And also, the bezel horizontal/vertical stretch is stored in the CFG's. So anyone that has adjusted their X/Y stretching to get bezels looking good would have these set up. Why is this even being asked? Is it some how tied to anti-cheating? Never mind, I see in a post above, you saying that dip switches are stored in CFGs.
  6. The only thing else I can suggest is to check those settings for all of your emulators. Hopefully Jason can reply, as it does seem to be an ongoing issue with a handful of people on the site. The dance you described above is the same that I was having. Sometimes it worked fine, then suddenly would stop working reboot to stat working again, then randomly stopping. It was a weird thing that I never could find the cause. I ended up switching to a single button for my BigBox pause screen and that fixed it for me. Sorry to hear it did not work for you too.
  7. BigBox - I had issues too until I got rid of the two-button combo to bring up my pause screen. Sometimes it worked, randomly, but very inconstant. Once I set it to be only one button, I have had no more issues. Give it a try. Also try to check following settings... Tools > manage Emulators > Edit the emulator that is giving you issues > Click on the Pause tab > check to make sure the box "Force pause screen activation and "Enable pause Screen" are checked. This may help.
  8. Thank you sir
  9. Thanks guys @Lordmonkus Any programs or explainable ways to extract that file type out of 1800 folders? Or is it OK to just leave them in that folder structure? @neil9000 Bios, for PS1 console or each game? Can you tell me the file name/type for the bios?
  10. I am new to PS1 emulation, and just want to make sure I have my ducks in a row before mass importing... My source is for Autobleem, what ever that means. The roms look to be in the PBP format and are all in separate folders, per game; with a couple other files too. About 1800 separate folders. See image below. I was hoping to use RetroArch as my emulator since I already have it setup for some other consoles. Is that ok with this format and folder structure?
  11. This sucks, but I understand. I have been reading a lot of similar issues with other developers when using 11. I so wish Microsoft's mobile OS did not fail. I was hoping the openness of the Windows platform could be brought over to mobile phones... but they missed that boat.
  12. Did you install the 'all in one' installer? Where did you get your VPX installation resources? I got mine from the official build, link below (and had no issues - other than learning how it all works together)... https://vpinball.com/VPBdownloads/vpx-installer-10-6-0/
  13. For what it's worth, this is how I have my Xbox controller to work with Joy2Key (see image below). It basically mimics the keyboard keys of my arcade controller shown above the Xbox controller. I know this can all be pretty confusing, when talking about mimicking key strokes, and understanding how some arcade controls are actually remapped keyboards. That's why I was a little hesitant to bring it up originally. Since I hardly ever use my Xbox controller to play pinball, I still have not researched how to make LaunchBox/BigBox automatically open/close Joy2Key only when I launch/close VPX tables. So I have to open close Joy2Key manually for now in those few occasions. Any help with this would be appreciated. ... I only set up the Xbox controller with the intention that I am eventually going to share this build with my nephew, who does not own an arcade style controller; so he would use the Xbox controller. If I could get Joy2Key to open/close as I use VPX, that would be great.
  14. Thanks for the correction. I actually use JoyToKey and set it up to match my Arcade Controls (keyboard) inputs. That way I can trick it to allow me to use the triggers as nudges since JoyToKey accepts those inputs, unlike VPX. Though, I use the joystick rarely... you cant beat side buttons on the arcade controler... feels like playing on a real table.
  15. I've never seen that error message. Is it a LaunchBox or Visual Pinball X error? Anyways, I use an arcade controller (keyboard module driven) to control my Visual Pinball X table; but I have played around and set up an Xbox 360 controller before and it works decently. It is impossible to get the triggers working though through VPX - you have to use the bumpers as flippers, and set other buttons for your nudge. To set up your controller, you should just be able to go into the (VPX) ... Preferences > Configures Keys, Nudge, and DOF. Then in that window, you will see a drop down menu under each action where you can select the controller button number. Do this for every action you want. Though, you will need to know your button numbers of your controller. This should be the numbers for yours.
  16. What do you mean by this? In order for me to create a 'View Moves List' under my MAME Arcade Mortal Kombat II game, I do the following... - Create a folder named 'Moves Lists' under the LaunchBox folder; then an 'Arcade' platform folder under that. Then add the 'Mortal Kombat II.pdf' moves list to that folder. - Open LaunchBox, then right click the Mortal Kombat II game, and choose Edit. - Click on the 'Additional Apps' tab. - Click on 'Add Application...' - under the Application Name field, I type 'View Moves List'. This is what shows up in the BigBox Pause Screen. - under the 'Application Path field', I have to browse to the exact PDF I want. In this case 'Mortal Kobat II.pdf' Are you saying I don't need to do this for every game? I would rather I just create the new 'Moves Lists' folder and then just copy all the pdf's of the games I want in there... Like we can do with the default 'Manuals' folder. Otherwise, I am going to have to do the following steps for every game I want to add.
  17. I was wondering the same thing. If they have no use, I would rather they are not there.
  18. I would love to see a more fleshed out Pause theme like you suggested. Your example would be great if it is able. I'm currently having to put my fighting game moves lists in the Manuals folder so they are accessible during the Pause theme. I do the same for my Pinball instruction cards. It's a work around, but it works well.
Perfect startup for BigBox. Quick, not too loud, simple, and uses the correct font. Thanks for making it.

Here is a quick video summary I made of that link that Retro808 shared. If you have further questions, bring them into that thread.
  20. STARTS OFF BY SAYING, "iM NOT A HANDY GUY"... THEN GOES ON TO SHOW A KILLER SETUP. yOU ARE OFFICIALLY "HANDY" NOW ? fucking caps
  21. Did you setup a button to activate the BigBox theme? Find this setting in BigBox under ... Options > Keyboard Mapping > Show Pause Screen ... set it to the button you want.
  22. It's great to see more devs making pause screens that show control layouts. Can I recommend adding a link to 'View manual' in the pause screen menu? That is an important link that I use when pausing... using another pause theme. It's where I place my move lists for fighting games and other games that require move lists or stuff like instruction cards (pinball).
  23. What emulator are you using for Mattel Intellivision; and how are you controlling the games since the number pad makes emulation a pain in the ass with most joystick controllers and arcade controls? I ask because I have been struggling finding a good solution for playing those games on my setup.
