DOS76 Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 Just thought I'd play around with LaunchBox and use it in a way that is wasn't intended. This took me over a month and a half of work tidying up my collection, creating covers with Comic Utility Belt and finally importing everything into Launchbox (as I added more and more platforms LaunchBox started taking more time to import them) In total its 38,663 comics in 3,572 platforms. The video is not what I wanted it to be as I envisioned it with captions that explained things but that just wasn't in my skill set so you got this shitty video instead. The platform category Cross-Over Events is made of all playlist and the reading orders were obtained from a website Comic Book Reading Order 10 Quote
voicesinthedark Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 You sir either have WAY WAY too much time on your hands or you are a mad genius. lol Seriously though that's really impressive, good job. Quote
Kondorito Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 Looks awesome DOS! Last thing missing is to find a way to change "All Games" to "All Comics" and you have your ComicBox Quote
voicesinthedark Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 In all seriousness @jasoncarr better share royalties with you when he launches "Comicbox" after seeing what you've done here. lol Quote
FoxyMonty Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 @DOS76 Collection looks great! Would you at all be able to share the xml files for the comic platforms? Quote
DOS76 Posted December 10, 2018 Author Posted December 10, 2018 I definitely could but if you don't have the same named comics I don't know what good it would do you. Data.zip Here is the data folder anyway in case you can do something with it. Data.zip Quote
Alucard205 Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 You sir have inspired me to do the same thing. Thanks for the project! Quote
Rincewind Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 That's dedication and a great end result, thanks for sharing the video and sparking off a few light blubs in my head Quote
DOS76 Posted July 11, 2019 Author Posted July 11, 2019 I do want to say as I haven't been keeping this updated with the new comics each week. Navigating through it and reading comics is fast but needing to add or edit anything is way to slow at this point. It can take upwards of 10 minutes for LB to add just one new comic so I've sort of given up on it. Quote

Retro808 Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 2 hours ago, A Retro guy said: How do i do this. Like any game you would emulate. Add a comic reader program as an emulator. Import your comic files to whatever platform name you want to call it. Quote
DOS76 Posted October 4, 2020 Author Posted October 4, 2020 1st you have to have comic book files without those you are pretty much dead in the water. If you have them then basically do what Retro808 said. To get covers I use a tool called ComicBook Utility Belt that can be found here https://sourceforge.net/projects/comicutility/ Quote
A Retro guy Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 I would like someone like you all to make a tutorial video on youtube pls Quote

Add a comic reader as a emulator and add your comics as roms that use that emulator, job done. Quote
DOS76 Posted October 4, 2020 Author Posted October 4, 2020 Not going to happen I don't even recommend doing this really it was a cool project and all but LB isn't really built for it. After adding all of those comics it really struggled to edit or add anything else and since new comics come out every week that made it unsustainable. I would suggest checking out YAC reader they have a pretty nice library app. Don't get me wrong if LB was slightly redesigned to be able to process a large large platform xml and it was tweaked to be able to use you ComicVine API to pull down meta it would basically be the perfect comic book reader app That is an image of YAC Library which isn't quite as attractive as LB but is pretty nice Quote
A Retro guy Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 OK. But can u tell me where to get YAC and how to set it up, if it even really needs setting up. Quote

Download the version for your pc specs. You are either on a 32bit or 64bit operating system. If you do not know which one you are on Google can tell you how find out. Most of these simple questions you ask can be found in a few minutes using a search engine. Quote
