I'll post this on an LEDBlinky forum if needs be but thought I'd ask here first as we're all a friendly bunch here.... ? I have set up LEDblinky to speak controls on 'pause'. However, when playing games she only speaks for a second and gets cut off or she doesn't speak the full controls? For instance - on Gauntlet - she says "Gauntlet" when it starts up but when I pause she just flashes the fire button and says "Fire" (no mention of Spell) ? I thought she was getting her text to speak from the LEDBlinky controls.ini file so I changed "fire" to "firetits" (yes - I'm childish) in the controls.ini file but she still just said "Fire".?? On Tekken and Tekken 3 she just says "Punch" for the first button and doesn't mention the other buttons. However, it's worth noting that all the buttons light up correctly. There's 4 buttons lit on Tekken and 2 buttons lit on Gauntlet. Anyone any ideas? :-)

I'm going to set up a jukebox on my cabinet that I can play when I'm not playing a game. It suddenly occurred to me that, ages ago, I bought a license for Music Box (not because I needed the program - I just wanted to support development of it). I wondered if it was possible to switch from Big Box to Music Box and (importantly) back again easily? Has anyone done this? or know how it could be done? Thanks ?

Hi Alan I got one by just trawling eBay. They do come up from time to time. You can also buy them from places like Alibaba (I think that's the name of it) but they'll be new ones and are quite expensive (obviously depending on your budget etc). My one was £120 delivered I think. Or around that? Maybe £100 with £20 delivery. Can't quite remember now. New ones are about £600 - £1,000 I think. All the best with your search mate.

Yep, that was what I was going to do. i was also going to look into if I could help making 'snaps' - especially now the new LB is coming out with the ability to make snaps for any game.

Thanks for that. I actually watched a YouTube vid last night about it and the guy on there was using the 3 in 1 images and they looked brilliant (he was using RetroPie). Will check it out. Really like the idea of the project too so will probably support it. Thanks

Ahhhh... right. Thanks, I thought I was missing something there! I've just downloaded Skraper and it's busy "downloading resources" at the moment. I'll carry on with it on Friday hopefully when I get chance and see what it's all about. Thanks again Dragon

I think you'll be fine with that build bunman. Should give you a great experience. You'll be rocking by the weekend if you're getting it tomorrow! Good stuff, start knocking those high scores out

Thanks dragon. I'll probably check it out at the weekend if I get time. What's your "attract mode"? Is that not just flashing lights? Or does it do something else as well?

Hi all, I recently heard about "Skraper" for getting game media. On their website it mentions Launchbox. Assuming it is just a media scraper - is it better than LB's own media scraper? Anyone used it and can comment on whether it's any good or not? Or does it just use the same repository as LB? Thanks

I'm sure someone more knowledegable will chime in but I think the answer will depend on what games you are running. Obviously, BigBox is just a front end that will launch anything so, if all you're playing is MAME games I would say that your specs are more than enough. However, if you are planning on using BigBox to launch some of the latest PC titles then maybe the specs need beefing up a bit? At a guess, those specs would run the majority of retro games without an issue I would think (decent price too).

Thanks ninja! Yep, 32" CRT is going to be massive and very heavy!! Make sure your dimensions will fit through doors etc. Quite a few people make removable control panels just so that the cab is moveable around the house. I think mine would *just* fit through the back door into the house if I took off the T-molding but I'm hoping to not have to move it for many years as it lives inside a summerhouse I put in the garden. Good luck with your project. Would be nice to post some photos when you get started. I've enjoyed building this cabinet so far. It's a lot of stress trying to get everything right but it's a nice feeling when you finally get to a stage where you can play something. ?

Some superb additions there. Love the idea of making our own snaps. Will be brilliant for MFME too (fruit machine emulator) as I use laumchbox for that and you can't find snaps for the fruit machines online most of the time. Great work as always Jason. Well done ?

MAME bezels that don't affect the vertical size?
Johnny T replied to Johnny T's topic in Collections and Builds
Superb!! I was just scratching my head around the Github site with what to do. I've got that program now so I'll have a mess around with it. You're a star Neil! Thanks! PS. Sorted it now. Thanks again -

MAME bezels that don't affect the vertical size?
Johnny T replied to Johnny T's topic in Collections and Builds
That's great Neil. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have a look and see what I can find. Worst comes to worst I'll just remove bezels altogether. It would be nice to have them though as I do like the look of them. Thanks (as always) for the great help matey. Much appreciated -
MAME bezels that don't affect the vertical size?
Johnny T replied to Johnny T's topic in Collections and Builds
Hi Dos, thanks. I would have to do every one though. I did consider this but realised that I was probably reinventing the wheel and there would probably be bezel packs available to suit. It's not just Galaga. That was just the example I was using. -

Yours doesn't have a border at the top/bottom though Neil. That is what I was looking for May I ask where you got your bezels from? (Or even be a bit cheekier and wonder if you would consider uploading them somewhere for me?)? Cheers ? -
MAME bezels that don't affect the vertical size?
Johnny T replied to Johnny T's topic in Collections and Builds
Hi Neil You're right. I'm an idiot. I've got the hard drive out of the machine at the moment and I'm currently doing some work on some of the software so can't post a photo unfortunately. This is the bezel for Galaga on my 'house' PC..... I just wondered if there were any bezels that didn't have as thick a border top/bottom (or maybe no border top/bottom)? Thanks -
I am setting up LB/BB on a new cabinet and thought I'd try bezels for the first time. I tried Arkanoid and Galaga and I love the fact that on Arkanoid I had the instructions at the side (i.e. what bonuses do what thing). However, due to the size of the bezel it really restricted the size of the game window. So much so that Galaga was tiny on my screen?? I'm not sure if my system is somehow squashing the screen further as well as adding a bezel (is there a setting for that anywhere??). But I also wondered if there was a MAME Bezel pack anywhere that had minimum interference with the vertical size of the game window? I've googled it and there seems to be loads of bezel packs out there for all kinds of frontends but thought I'd ask what others use and if someone could help? Thanks ?

And at the weekend I finally managed to play my first game of Frogger on it!!!! Still a LOAD of work needs doing on the control panel / wiring / LEDs / software set up etc... but good to finally have a game on it after all the hard work so far ?
