Hi @paulmichel21, you can already do this I believe. Check the Security options in Big Box.
-
Yeah, that stuff is coming soon. Originally we planned subcategorization for 7.0 but it got pushed for now.

Hold up...what platforms are we looking to remove @SentaiBrad? -
I have the Mark Game Completed option on my short list. New beta is out guys with various fixes all around, some threading improvements for Big Box, and finally added the Scan for Removed Games feature under the Tools menu. Let me know how it works for y'all.
-
Good to know. I think this might be happening because we have an issue with the fullscreen videos always using WMP. Will look into it.
-
Sure, always best to make a backup of everything before trying new beta features.
-
Hi @cleverest, it is available in the latest beta. Tools > Scan for Added ROMs and Tools > Scan for Removed ROMs. Let me know if you run into any issues with it. You do have to make sure that your platform game folder paths are correct under Tools > Manage Platforms.

Yes, we absolutely do not want to change the platform for arcade games, because it will mess up a whole load of stuff in LaunchBox itself. We're thinking through a better solution for arcade platform groups, but yeah, that's only going to break things. Thanks guys. -
Hi guys, memory dumps are mostly useless for me unfortunately. What video playback engine are you using @Strwrsteve? If we do have a memory leak, it would be with the videos most likely.

Coverflow not smooth on powerful computer
Jason Carr replied to Immortal Chortle's topic in Troubleshooting
That is indeed odd @half-fast, but might be worth looking into. What brand and model of drive is the one that wasn't working well? Also curious what type of file system it's using (NTFS/FAT32/exFAT)? -
Hi Vic, sorry I haven't been very responsive. Brad removed your link because he was afraid you might be using emulator code against the code's licensing, but I think he might have assumed incorrectly on that. I'll hit you up via email shortly. I think a lot of that would still require some development in order to make it happen, though possibly not in too much depth. Are you working on another type of product to bring to market?

Coverflow not smooth on powerful computer

Windows Media Player does have some video compatibility issues if you don't install some extra plugins. You can check on and change the video playback engine setting in Big Box under Options > Videos (rather than hunting through configuration files lol). VLC is highly recommended now though over WMP. -

FYI guys, the LaunchBox cache size setting has nothing to do with Big Box. -
Thanks @keyser.

Let me chime in here for a second and just share that yes, we are aware that CoverFlow performance is not ideal currently, even on some fairly fast machines. I apologize but I have not read this entire thread, so forgive me if I'm just repeating people here. If you happen to be using the Windows Media Player video playback engine, you may find that VLC is much quicker and causes less performance issues with CoverFlow. CoverFlow is smooth on high-end systems, but it is surprisingly taxing right now on video cards. The CPU definitely matters but not as much as the video card for the CoverFlow frame rates. I have this on my plate to address. -
Yes, I'm wondering the image size is related to that issue.

Very sorry guys. I moved the www over to the new server late last night, and I botched a setting. It should be fixed now.
-
Please do @Thatman84! It's good to finally see this thing get some use.
-
Ha, odd. We didn't really change anything that should have any effect on Big Box itself (only changed the Previews). But I'll take it.
-
The fix I just put in was to fix VLC crashing, which was a separate issue. @viking's videos should now stream fine though. When I test the EmuMovies vids, all of the EM Default and Unified vids seem to stream fine, but I am seeing issues with the Parallax and some of the other new Arcade options videos. I've let Circo know about these. I'll see if I can update to the latest version of VLC before release. It's only the Preview functionality that actually runs an instance of VLC, so we may end up integrating it better in the future (to prevent update prompts, etc.). As it stands, though, honestly that's about the least important thing on my plate.

Thank you, Neil. Glad we got it worked out.
-
Sorry lol. If you close LaunchBox and Big Box, and then delete the LaunchBox\VLC folder, then restart, does it still work?
-
Alright, new beta is up. @neil9000 Let me know if the previews are working for you now. If so, I got one more thing for you to test if you don't mind but let me know if it's working first.
