  1. I have the folder issue fixed for the next beta here. I *think* what you're saying on the last line is that the name of the game will be the name from the LaunchBox Games Database instead of the name from the ROM file, which is by design. Is that what you're saying?
  2. Great to hear @Sepulchre, and good to know that that is an area of possible confusion. I just put out a new beta that should hopefully resolve more of the VLC issues. See the beta testing thread here:
  3. FYI guys, I just put out another new beta that should improve things further. Lots of VLC fixes. See the beta testing thead:
  4. @ThePolish I still have on my list to look into the restarting WMP videos as well. Hopefully I can fix that before the release too.
  5. Hey all, I'm hoping to put out another official release in the next few days. I think translation changes should be very minimal for this version but it would probably be good to give it a once-over if you guys can. @CliveBarker @AFaustini @Wattoo @Opaklopper @cyanjiang Also, here are the release notes: Steam trailer videos are now downloadable for your Steam games Big Box custom themes now support custom platform images Better support for importing multi-disc games @dukeemu Have you had a chance to test the Italian translation? I know we still have a lot of cleanup to do in the interfaces but sadly I haven't gotten to that yet. We may need to temporarily disable the Italian translation for the official release until we can get everything up to par. Thanks all!
  6. Alright, have some really good news. Higankashi who wrote the Meta.Vlc engine that we use for VLC integration in Big Box finally got back to me with a fix for a lot more of the VLC issues. Somebody really needs to buy this guy a beer (or a yacht). I'm the only one who's tested it at this point, but there's a new beta out and it seems to fix the video centering issues as well as the issues with the videos not being fullscreen on 16:10 monitors. It also should help to address bugs like the video audio playing in the background and certain error popups. So glad to get some of this stuff fixed. Hopefully you guys can test and see the same results. The VLC videos should also be faster to load and the transitions with them should be much smoother as well. @kmoney I'm expecting/hoping that this will fix all of the VLC issues you had reported recently except for #2 (the green stuff for the webm videos), which are caused by VLC itself. I think I may be able to upgrade the integrated version of VLC in order to possibly fix this. I'm planning on putting out the official 6.8 in a few days, once we've all tested this and we're happy with it. A lot of bugfixes have gone into this stuff so I think it's important to release it sooner rather than later. Also, thanks to @imdavid555 we've found a glaring bug that if certain transitions are used for the Screen Transition setting, the frame rate can drop to a crawl specifically in the CoverFlow views. I'm going to be focusing on this one to get it fixed somehow before the official release. Thanks all.
  7. I see @spektor56, that makes sense. Sorry your ticket got rejected; I just opened it back up. Looks like Brad just was confused. @Mute64, that's mostly good to hear. I haven't played with that package feature for so long, I'm almost surprised it's still working. But I'm glad it is. We should probably come back to that here soon to make sure everything is ideal for all the latest features.
  8. No worries @Bedwyr; at some point in the future we may add customization options that allow LaunchBox to behave like a standard Windows app and use the normal configuration folders, but that's far from a priority at this point. @shinra358, I see what's happening there. If you use the folder names for the imports, it expects the disc numbers to be in the folder names, not the file names. I can see how it'd be better the other way though; I'll see if this is relatively simple to do. I'm not following you on your last sentence: "Also, I just noticed that choosing rom names when importing doesn't give the selection the rom name at all. It gives it the name that it uses in the data base." Can you explain that? I get you, @Zombeaver, agreed.
  9. My child, don’t lose sight of common sense and discernment. Hang on to them, for they will refresh your soul. They are like jewels on a necklace. They keep you safe on your way, and your feet will not stumble. You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly. You need not be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap. Proverbs 3:21-26 (NLT) I am not burdened with fear, as I know the Lord will continue to provide me with security and strength. The Lord's discernment is always available and always correct.
  10. Well that pretty much proves that that's not the issue! I'll download and try your test instance.
  11. Yeah, that makes sense @Bedwyr but the whole point of a portable application is not to affect anything on the computer other than what's inside the application folder. Also we need Dropbox syncing support, so that you can sync everything, settings included inside of your Dropbox folder.
  12. Very cool @shadowblind. That looks awesome. Have you teamed up with @CriticalCid at all? We've been talking about making it easier to add custom videos in addition to the normal gameplay videos to use for the Hyperspin-recorded themes here:
  13. Hi @Bedwyr, Program Files is strictly off-limits for LaunchBox to be installed to. Typically, it won't even start up if you choose that folder. The installer explains not to install to Program Files or any folder that requires Administrator permissions. Unfortunately that's just a side-effect of portable applications and there's no way around it. LaunchBox installs to C:\Users\[username]\LaunchBox by default.
  14. Hi @onebadveggie, unfortunately not at this point. This is on my list, though. I believe we do have a ticket for it as well. If you can find it on Bitbucket and vote it up, that would help me be able to focus on it sooner. Let me know if you can't find it for some reason.
  15. I am the Justin Bieber of application developers. What are you all even doing here, really.
  16. Hi David, just to 100% check to make sure, see what you find for the Windows desktop hardware acceleration settings: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/hardware-acceleration-windows-7 You may or may not even be able to get to them, with my understanding. There's a registry key later on in the article though; it would be interesting to know what that registry key is set to. I'm really confused as to what else might be going on here, so I'm admittedly grasping at straws. Thanks for bearing with me on this though.
  17. Come to think of it, here's what I'm thinking. I could add a property to the ImageVideoView tag that would allow you to override the folder where videos are pulled from. I *think* that's all we'd really need for this. Thoughts?
  18. Yeah, I had thought about that, Cid. I'm not sure the best solution for that as of yet, other than to add proper multi-video support to LaunchBox. I think there may be a way to do the variable replacement type thing in XAML, but to be honest I haven't figured it out yet. Per if-then statements though, the data binding approach that I took in the tutorial video is unfortunately as close as we're gonna get to doing actual if-then logic in XAML (as of course it's really not meant for that). That said, I would expect that most, if not all if-then requirements could be implemented the same way I implemented the platform name stuff in the tutorial. Though of course it may be tricky.
  19. @shinra358 Can you explain what your file names and folder names are exactly?
  20. Very cool @Toxicangel. Glad to hear it's all working for you to stream it.
  21. Thanks cool, @falcon. I hadn't seen that before. EmuMovies does have control panel image downloads available for arcade games in LaunchBox.
  22. Hmm, good question. To be honest I didn't even know that existed lol. Eventually we'll be adding ratings for PEGI and such as well, so I expect we can add that particular metric too when we do that. So I'd say leave the ESRB blank and we can add those later. Thanks, @cafcmike.
  23. Hi @solidmeister, I just fixed a minor issue with the alphabetic indexes and culture-specific characters, so I'm guessing that's what's happening for you. Try downloading the latest beta and see if it fixes for you.
  24. That'd be a nice idea, Fisty. I think it would be fairly easy to add a field to profiles for that, so I'll add that to my plate.
  25. What if we did a Kickstarter for this so that I was able to hire another developer to work on it? Worth pursuing you think? How much would you be able to donate to the project?
