  1. Because I believe that center jewel button requires Direct Input to be usable? At least with some odd research that's what I've found to be the potential truth. Or if usable, you may have the wrong internal code. Otherwise, why not use Controller Automation in LaunchBox? Similar to RetroArch, you have a hold / modifier button, that then lets use use other buttons for other functions. It's in the Options menu for both Big Box and LaunchBox. Also, thank you for the kind words. I do appreciate the views!
  2. Oh, and the entire process will take as long as it needs depending on your CPU, so if you have a slower cpu, the compression (or decompression if you need to for some reason) will take a lot longer.
  3. PS2 I used MaxCSO by the PCSX2 team, for PSP I use YACC (Yet Another CSO Compressor), and for PS1 I use PSX2PSP. The CSO is essentially the same for PSP and PS2, but most PSP CSO Programs don't like images that are too big, and MaxCSO doesn't have a file size limit, however YACC has an interface and is much nicer, where MaxCSO is command line. What I did, essentially was used the batch convertor in YACC to convert the entire folder, except for the GTA Games, they can not be compressed (supposedly). I renamed maxcso to maxcso iso, and used the Windows search on my PS2 games folder and searched "iso". I then dragged and dropped how ever many games at a time on to the exe and it compressed them that way. If you have all your PS2 games in a single folder then it's essentially the same thing, but I don't, some are in 1 folder, but most are in single folders. So this saved me a ton of time and put the resulting files in the proper location. I sorted it by size so the program was always on top. For PS1 the software didn't really have a batch mode, so I took 3-4 days and went through my entire PS1 collection, game by game, and compressed them up the long way. There's no real batch method for it. As far as I can tell, there's been 1 game for PS2 that couldn't be CSO'ed on my end, and I had to redownload that game as there is no way to uncso them. I believe you can in YACC, but I honestly don't remember, and this would only really work for PSP games. PSX2PSP I recall there being a method to un-pbp them if need be though. As a bonus too, if you have a hacked PSP you can put your eboots on to the PSP, though it's a bit more complicated then compress and go, there are a few more steps you need to take. I do suggest all your PS1 games being in their own folders as it will rename them to eboot.pbp (for PSP reasons, because that's where this came from), and then using the folder names for the game names. You also don't need to worry about disc games when it comes to PBP as it should automatically switch discs. Also, as long as the game names stay the same, (even if it gets that name from the folder) deleting a systems games, then re-importing and unchecking all of the media boxes will import fast and all of your media will re-attach it's self automatically, again, given the names haven't changed or you haven't removed the media. If you have any questions, let me know.
  4. Thanks for letting us know, don't feel awkward about it. There are several people who dedicate them selves to a system or two at a time and really make quality submissions. I will admit that we're probably not operating at 100% on the Database as there are features that do need to get in there, but with the state it's in now it is very much appreciated that you and others work as best as you can given the limitations. Obviously Jason coded that up and did all the hard work, but I also take pride in this as once the features and systems were implemented, it was up to me to make guidelines and get things going, so like the videos on YouTube, I take a specific special interest and pride in our Database. With some deliberation and input, the guidelines were a way to try and create order, and as time goes on they got expanded (though not in a while, but I don't think they really need to be...?) as features and issues came up. It's not perfect, and we do things differently as our goal is take make it the best database companion for LaunchBox, but when all is said and done this is something we can all be proud of to say we're leaving some sort of mark somewhere.
  5. Of course! If you have any more questions, then please feel free to ask. I don't usually think every problem's solution is "change emulators", but in this case I do believe that this is a bug with ePSXe, as that sort of issue has happened to me for years.
  6. It sounds like the BIOS are off. scph 5500, 5501, 5502. You can find two of those by searching, and the missing one you can just rename the 1000 series equivalent, then of course it goes in to your System folder and it needs to be named exactly how they want, which is also case sensitive. You set up the proper command line parameter, and you import all your cue sheets or pbp files. At the time I made the tutorial I had everything bin / iso and cue, but now I've got them all converted and compressed as pbp's. It's one of the older tutorials ripe for an update actually, but it still holds true.
  7. That's a bug with ePSXe and when it closes. I once had 5 instances of ePSXe open in Task Manager. So unless there is a different script which does things differently, I don't really think there is much we can do. The best solution I can offer is to use RetroArch for PS1 instead, while that is personal preference (any emulator choice is) it is also more accurate than a lot of emulators.
  8. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? ... Look, I hear and see a lot of shady things related to emulators and roms because of our line of work, and this takes the damn cake. How was this even possible... wtf.
  9. Unless it's actually a duplicate in the PS1 section. Technically, the moderator should be approving that deletion based on the info at hand, I probably would. It's not like when someone wants to delete a good proper image, but wants to upload one in it's place; there is the option to replace an image on purpose so the moderator knows whats going on. If someone is asking to delete an image that is perfectly fine, I reject it, even if 2 or 3 submissions later there is a new image trying to be added that is a better version, there's know real way to know unless you do a lot of leg work. A PS1 game in a PSP section, at a glance, I would accept the deletion. It should still be deleted though if the game already exists in the PS1 section though.
  10. I should be doing this more often, and I should have done this sooner, but the user who is adding and editing the Atari Lynx section that I am moderating right now, I want to congratulate you. I just had a big stint of moderation's that were absurd or completely wrong. I had to reject a ton! I want to applaud you sir or ma'am for the completely accurate and fantastic submissions and changes. It's a breath of fresh air, and during this stint of moderation if I see "Atari Lynx" I know it's good. This was happening for Amiga, DOS and a few other systems, I'll get a string of additions or changes that are completely on point, so I want to thank those users too, but the Atari Lynx contributor that I am moderating at this moment is what propelled me to make this thread. So people can see all the threads about the completely wrong way that people are submitting games, and we know it's a problem we need to deal with, but I am very happy that we have users on both sides of the fence (contributor and moderators) that are doing their job properly. We recognize you and are very thankful. We know which moderators are not properly following the guidelines that they agreed to when they took on that mantle. I just want to say thank you to those who are doing a badass job, because we really need it.
  11. If you need more help, I've done two tutorials related to MESS on our channel. Click Tutorials at the top of the page.
  12. I was actually using the wrong install, mines full of clear logo too. Either way, I still don't have file names showing.
  13. I don't have a ton of clear logo's, I mostly just have the media downloaded and found as is from our Database and EmuMovies, completing it is doable, I just haven't gone that extra, long, mile to have it fully complete. I checked all of my views in my MAME list, and I even went in to the extra details pane for a specific game, and I never saw a file name. So I would appreciate a video or some screenshots so I can see whats what as I don't think I can replicate it.
  14. Well, as far as I can tell there isn't one for Big Box, this exists for LaunchBox in the game details pane, but not for BigBox. Looking through my games, I don't even see the rom file name.
  15. You mean you want to hide the game names? Options -> Views and uncheck "Show games list title". It only removes the title from one view as far as I can see, if this is even what you are getting at.
  16. Because we apparently don't have moderators that follow the rules, but also this person is completely over reacting. Obviously reject, but mark the actual title for deletion. I'll let Jason know.
  17. If you installed it correctly, activated it and followed any instructions they may have given you, you should be good to go.
  18. Well they're not only created at the Hyperspin site, they are created everywhere. However, yea, if you're asking for a complete set I don't think one exists. If you want one for the console, then there might be some in our download section (saying Famicom specifically, there are of course NES ones), I know some users have created some for the consoles or compiled packs. For the games, we probably have quite a bit, but not everything. We are hoping people upload them for the Database as well, but you can find clear logo packs out there on some sites. I am unsure what EmuMovies has for Clear Logo's for games in terms of a set to download, but they could have some compiled packs, and of course like @Styphelus said, over at the Hyperspin forums there are some packs as well.
  19. If you're not having issues with MAME then you don't need to switch. I made the FBA tutorial because people requested it and for the off chance that there was a game that didn't run well in MAME this covered that scenario.

    Retropalooza

I know of Gamescom, but I was meaning for Retro Games specifically.

    Retropalooza

I am confused now. There are a few retro con's in Europe actually, but I don't know how feasible it is for someone to go through country to country. As an American, going to a different country is stupid hard. I know there is a con in Norway, and I recall there being one in Germany, but obviously that doesn't cover a majority of Europe. Retropalooza for me was about 3000 miles (~4828km), so I actually went a bit far for that one. There's actually a retro con happening right now about 3 hours away from me, and the first one we chose was in Texas...?
  22. You shouldn't need to re-do much except for re-importing your games. Remove all the entries from a platform and re-import them like you would do. As an example, I need to re-import my Saturn games (I imported them before this feature existed), so i removed all the games, chose to import from files, used Windows search to filter out *.cue files, selected them all with Ctrl + A, hit import. When it came to the LaunchBox Games Database and EmuMovies screens I unchecked all of the boxes so that no media gets downloaded and it imports very fast. Chose to use the folder name for the game name as well. Since all of the media exists already, then there's no need to download more. You might want to use the Media clean-up option as multi disc games may have downloaded multiple copies of the same images, but re-importing is easy.
