  1. Just move your LaunchBox install to another directory, and then move it back to where you want. It's still completely portable, you'll just need to either edit the drive letter in Notepad++ later, or make sure your roms and emulators end up on the same drive letter. You can change drive letters in Disk Management. you generally don't want to do that for systems you've been working on, but for a brand new Install, that should be fine too.
  2. No, no worries. No need to apologize. They're completely rational expectations and fears.

No, I believe that thing is using integrated, so what ever the CPU is. For the size, it's surprising, and even PS1 and N64 should work in most situations, but it's still a handheld PC.
  4. You don't have to re-install LaunchBox. As long as the file paths stay the same, or your LaunchBox install, games and emulators are all on the same drive, then they're using a relative path and the drive letter doesn't mean anything. So I have all of my stuff all on one 8TB drive. If i need to move that drive, or re-install the OS, it doesn't matter what drive letter it was before, it'll all still work. If you have roms on another drive, then there are two methods. After the re-install, figure out what drive everything is now on, Open up all of the Platform XML's in notepad++, search for the old drive letter (like "D:\") and then replace all, in all open documents with the new drive letter (like "F:\). Or, you can delete the games and then re-import them afterwards and use the uncheck all buttons on the media download pages to not download any associated media. All of the media you have in your LB install will automatically re-attach. The second one will take a bit more time, but go faster because it doesn't have to download anything. It all just depends on how your install is set up.
  5. You could also try the Bsnes Performance Mercury core as well. The Performance core should run just fine on your machine anyways, but the Mercury core helps the FX Chip games if I recall. It should be better than the check box.
  6. Open up your LaunchBox folder, and go in to your Images sub directory. In here should be a list of all your platforms. Check your NES platform and confirm that all of your images are still here and downloaded. If they are, did you change the name of the platform?
  7. Try editing RetroArch in LaunchBox, and go to the AHK Tab. Try adding this, and see if your controller behaves better then: $Esc:: { Process, Close, {{{StartupEXE}}} }
  8. So, if it's creating the image folders, it thinks your Images folder location is that directory. If it's creating the Music, Manuals, Videos and "Images" (not the image types), then it thinks that's your root LaunchBox directory. How do you have things set up exactly? Something seems wrong if this is the case. If you didn't change the image folder location for that platform, or mess with where your LB folder is installed, then there is a bug with your set up (or it could have been some odd circumstances that's not really a bug, but bug like behavior).
  9. Checking that box does nothing. If you want to change a games emulator you need to use the Bulk Edit wizard. Click on a platform on the left, then a game, then press Ctrl + A. From here, right click a game and select edit. Then, choose Emulator from the drop down, then the new emulator from the new drop down. Unchecking the default box only matters during import. Once imported it doesn't change a single thing. If you're changing cores in RetroArch though, then you edit the command line parameters and replace the old core name with the new core name. I do use the Mednafen (but called Beetle in RA) PCE Fast core for TurboGrafx-CD now. The first tutorial I did on that was outdated and there is a second one. You just need to make sure you have the right BIOS (there are more bad ones out there than good), and the proper and correct rips of games.
  10. You also can not edit this file. If you edit anything, even your name, it will invalidate the file. So you can open it up, just don't edit it.
  11. RetroArch is one of the best emulators available, so the work around is fairly simple (though stupid I admit). Honestly, I agree, the NES game (and to be more honest, I don't think any games) should ever be archived. That's just my personal opinion though. At the very least, I'm glad some answers were given.
  12. Just double click the existing names and command lines like you were on a new line.
  13. The alternate to MAMEUI is just MAME. It works totally fine, and has had a basic UI for years at this point. MAME RA works, but I always suggest people stay away from it as one of the cores to avoid (there aren't many).

Yes, Jason did a video on this. It's not perfect, and you wont be able to run PS2 and GameCube even more, but it does work. You just need to know it's limitations, and Jason is interested in getting a low-fi version running for devices like that. GPD Win can run PS2 and GameCube, with a lot of tweaks made, and only some games at full speed.
  15. Yea, CCD wont work in Genesis GX sadly, which sucks. Unzipping was gonna be my suggestion though. It's generally ill advised for disc based games anyways. Glad you got it figured out though!
  16. So, I would avoid MAMEUI, I tried to use it the other day for something specific and it was an utter pain. It doesn't really offer much unless you need the specific audit feature. As for importing, just delete your MAME collection, select the import process, and when it asks you what media you want to download press the uncheck all buttons. This will do the import process like normal, but not download anything. You can then later re-run the process to update a platforms metadata and media post import. It's important to not uncheck the LaunchBox Games Database check box. If you uncheck that, sure all of your games will have their media still, but it will create headaches later as nothing will be attached to the database. So only uncheck the media boxes.
  17. Sure, but it's most likely a setting in LaunchBox or Snes9x, and Im am fairly certain the XML wont solve much.
  18. Yea I'm confused, that's where Dynamic Marquee goes. Also, again people, this is the YouTube talk thread, not the LaunchBox talk thread. Creating a regular single thread or using the BitBucket is the normal way to talk about and request LaunchBox / Big Box stuff.
  19. Don't use Zsnes, and Snes9X is not good either. Sending over their Emulators.XML will also not solve anything. Have you watched the tutorials? I would never recommend Snes9x, but ETA did a tutorial on that, and I originally did the beginners tutorial with SNES and chose RetroArch, as it's one of the best emulators available.
  20. Actually, split and non-merged work great. Ever since they added the non-merged, split has been giving me issues and non-merged is the only thing I download. So I'm gonna bet that makes zero difference, and potentially add smaller issues. This thread is a bit older, but the idea is still the same. You grab MAME .185, grab a MAME .185 split or non-merged rom set, put that in the MAME/roms folder, import that folder with LaunchBox (calling the emulator MAME automatically makes the MAME importer run), and you give it your regions. You may be trying to play a game that is missing a CHD file, in which case you'll also needs to download a CHD pack. In that pack is a gigantic list of folders, drop all those folders in to your MAME/roms folder as well. It's a bit older, so some things have changed around a bit, but the same basic idea is there. Also, replace the old version numbers with the recent version numbers:
  21. Linking playlist videos kind of sucks when embedding them, so make sure to click the 3 lines in the upper left corner to see a full list of them.
  22. There is software out there that can handle shell or auto-starting of specific software for this reason, you might want to try looking at one of them. The only thing that is tricky is needing your network drive. You might think about moving LaunchBox locally and only keeping your games over the network, but that's a different set of problems to deal with I guess. In terms of the focus, I would be most willing to bet it's other software or because you're at start up. That's why a lot of people use it as a shell replacement, and stop a lot of different things from popping up. If it's a dedicated PC, I would disable as many non-critical pieces of software and services, which includes Explorer.
  23. Also, If you're just moving your root LaunchBox install, that is completely portable. It becomes tricky when you're moving roms and emulators; then it's more of a question of where those are located, if they're on the same drive, etc. But, if you're moving just your install, and everything else is staying the same, that should totally be fine.
  24. Yea, and our forum search isn't too hot to find stuff, especially if it's older. Sadly enough, using Bing or Google is better to use to search our forums; the SEO is off the charts.
