  1. Actually, I am a big proponent of not using RocketLauncher, in fact, it will add more steps and make things more confusing. Right now, don't focus on using the -c command for custom configs, just make sure to get things launching first. But do keep in mind, you actually need custom configs in the configs folder for them to work. RetroArch's core and game override feature has also gotten much better too. For Overlays, only MAME and RetroArch handle them (and maybe some other emulators, but those are the two main ones). For other emulators you'd need to use RL for that, but again, If overlays are all you want then RL is not a solution at all in my book.
  2. The Escape key is only used in some emulators. Some will change what it's using, but for the most part you should be using Controller Automation. Set that up, and you'll press a button combination to exit emulators.
  3. Yea, DNS servers can cause many issues. The Google DNS (the one you chose) is great. Primary is 8.8.8.8, and secondary is 8.8.4.4.
  4. Anything x264 or x265 (265 requires a much more powerful PC to run and you'd need to re-encode as you can't record directly in to 265 (or HEVC)). So I record my video in to avi or mp4 containers, in 264. In DXTory I use my specially bought MagicYUV 4:4:4 codec, and output to an mp4. In OBS, I made sure it output to an mp4, and raised the bit rate to 60k, (60,000 kbps), and chose h264 from the short list of things that you can choose. I then edit all of my video in Adobe Premiere, and let everything render at h264 in an mp4 as well. I can give you screenshots if you'd like.
  5. The easiest way is to re-import, but to uncheck all of the media boxes. So delete the games, run the import process again, and on the two media screens (the one for the LaunchBox Games Database and the next one for Emu Movies), press the uncheck all buttons. All of your media will automatically re-attach, but not download, so the import will go much faster.
  6. It's no bother at all, so no worries. I'll forward this to Jason, it looks to be a bug.
  7. Different themes will show different pieces of art. You'll want to set the Switch View key and change views to one that you'll like. Wheels primarily use Clear Logo's and non-wheel views will use other images instead.
  8. So, this is an older machine, older CPU and older GPU, but it has a GPU in it period. It's also using Windows 7; 10 would be better, but you can find that later. 8GB of DDR3 RAM is probably the min. that I would go, but higher is better. That can be replaced at a later date. It's also normally $800, but on sale for $500. You might not actually save much more if you were to build this machine yourself, unless you got it part by part as they came on sale. So this checks all of the min. requirements for me. If you need a slightly beefier GPU or RAM at a later date, there are cheap upgrades available. Also, this was a crap shoot that I found this and the sale ends in 6 days. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883101543
  9. Yea, this is certainly in the Databases Bit Bucket as a request.
  10. EmuMovies might have a pack you could use. Also, did you check specific games that you're having issues with to make sure they had all of the artwork? Try and update a single game in LaunchBox and see what it finds. If a game isn't attached to an ID at all, then it wont download anything. You can tell if it is by editing a game and looking in the upper right hand corner of the edit box. If there's a blue link, you can click it and it will take you the Database page too.
  11. Well, we could update the defaults, and we should update the defaults (I already have a spread sheet of them, I've just been waiting for Jason to change them up), but yea. But yes, the Associated Platforms page is the key to making RetroArch work. You need to download the cores in RetroArch, then make sure LaunchBox is pointing the system to the right core, which requires making sure the platform name and the command line are set properly. Oh, also, don't use the DS Core in RetroArch. There are a few systems (DS, PSP, and Dreamcast Primarily) that are very out of date or lack compared to standalone emulators. Stick with Desmume's dev builds or it's forked emulator.
  12. Oh really? That I didn't know.
  13. Downloads from where? Are you just downloading from Emu Movies or just from the LaunchBox Games Database? It's totally possible we're seeing a higher amount of traffic, or the EM servers are having extra traffic, and that can slow things down. Wait it out, and see if it improves.
  14. It could become an issue if you have quite a lot of games, but if you're only going to be playing MAME I wouldn't bother with it. I have 37k games (not every game has an image), and I think my performance is just fine. You can reduce the image quality a bit in the Big Box options, and you could choose different transitions as well. If you want to keep adding systems, or performance gets worse, there are tons of other things that you can do to improve it.
  15. When adding images to your playlist, just like with a game or a platform, right above the image in the window is some text about what it is. You click the text and change it to the category you want depending on the image you've added.
  16. The cloud features don't upload any games, just information about your collection, and it's most likely broken anyways. As for what software to use, DXTory or OBS are what I use to capture various things.

    Gpd win

Lucky, I'm jealous. There are also a ton of other threads about moving LaunchBox around on the forums. The gist of it is: If you have LaunchBox, your emulators and roms on the same drive then it's all completely portable as no drive letter is assigned to a relative path. If there is a drive letter assigned, you can change the drive letter in the Platforms XML file in Notepad++. You'd use the Find and Replace All feature. As for the storage, either should be good, but it depends. Does the GPD Win have USB2 or USB3? If you get the nice performance SD cards from SanDisk, that can do up to 80-90MB/s, and the reader utilizes it, then that's not bad. If it's USB2, then the SD Card might be better. If it's a full spec USB3, then it could do up to about 100MB/s +. Either one should be fine. Just remember, the seek is going to be a bit different than even an external hard drive.
  18. Yea, that's unfortunately a problem, and some other threads have popped up recently about it. The default Should be a Bsnes core and not Snes9x, let alone Next, a core that doesn't exist anymore. In that tutorial I taught users how to change the core name, primarily for this reason, but for when a user wants to play around with a different core.
  19. Bsnes Performance should run ok on a weaker system. I'm not sure of it's exact PC requirements, but I would personally rather the Performance cores than anything Snes9x myself, and it should run on a lower end system. There is a reason why Snes9x has stayed sadly, and older hardware is the primary reason. Hell, Bsnes is not even available in RetroArch on 3DS and Vita.
  20. It's not anything that you can change, it has to be something that Jason updates, and unfortunately that's much harder than it sounds. For the most part, a majority of the games still import just fine, unless something severely broke in .185. If that happened though, I would expect many more reports.
  21. Yea, I wouldn't be surprised if ScummVM doesn't have much artwork. If the games are attached to LaunchBox Games Database ID's, edit a game, and you press the download media buttons, it will come up with what is available on the Database. I generally lean towards combining platforms and utilizing Scrape As, but I actually think ScummVM benefits greatly from having it's own platform. People may not be working on it out of fear that it would be combined, or maybe people just aren't interested in it. To be fair. importing ScummVM games in to LaunchBox is much harder than it should be, it needs to be completely revamped. So I'm sure that's not doing it any favors.
  22. Yea, certain behavior is only present in some Themes and some of those themes views. Each view can have completely different behaviors. Without Jason changing up the default settings, you might want to look for another Theme or choose a view that you like that does this.
  23. You opened up the Big Box menu, went in to the Theme selector, and selected the theme? I just want to make sure you've selected it, and you did any special requirements they might have.
  24. You're going to need a Big Box Theme that works with that orientation. There's one for 4:3 screens for example. There may be one already, but I don't know if it exists.
