Well, a lot of that is probably not build in to automatically parse. So it would require an update to get the sorting on point. @Jason Carr probably does want a list of phrases like that so things can get ordered more logically too. If we make a list for him, that would help out a ton.

Yea, the smaller or more portable you get, it gets much more expensive.

I'm going to make a channel on our Discord. I invite anyone who is interested in this to join the discord, and find that channel on the left. I want to kick a Wiki in to high gear for us. More pages of indexed, quality content will never hurt us. In fact, it will make us more of a defacto destination. https://discord.gg/X3Cwsyw

As far as I know, you can't change that. It was something they implemented, and actually it's probably good. Some emulators and cores can't share saves or save states. Some can, some can't, so it's hard to tell. I think they changed it to be more logical. I don't think there is a way to change it back. You could disable sorting your saves in to folders, so it doesn't even put them in sub folders, I believe that is what this means, then when you load that game on a different core you could try loading the save. You still might run in to compatibility issues though from time to time.

Yes, those bars are used to group games in specific fields.

It's also unfair to compare LaunchBox / Big Box to anything else, even other Windows front end software that runs on a full dekstop, let alone something designed the the Pi. Worse case scenario, if you're comfortable returning items online, you could always try 1, then another, until you find one that does behave how you need. In this case, small form factor PC's and PC's on a stick will get better the more money you put in to them. Like for example, I am looking to get a GPD Win at some point, and that thing is fairly expensive for what you get, but you get a lot, and it could run LB/BB fairly well in a low performance state. I would turn off Ram caching, animations, reduce the amount of images and even run a batch to reduce the resolution of all of the images.

PS2 ISO compression GZ how to compress multiple files ?
SentaiBrad replied to ALIE's topic in Emulation
Yea, the compression will take time depending on your CPU no matter what compression method you use, CSO or GZ. The more compression applied too, the longer it will take. -
My only concern is that the Wiki is not currently set up like a normal wiki, and I wonder if a regular wiki type of site layout would benefit us more. I know you can get wiki modules for sites to make it look like a Wiki. I would consider dedicating some time and putting down my expertise though.
-
Not in this case, no. Normally, yes, but since we're bypassing the old method, not currently.
-
What Arcade rom set are you using? That may be why.
-
It's currently not possible, however, people have requested this previously. I do believe there is a ticket for this request on our BitBucket.

Are you using a newer TV and the older GPU? The TV could even need a firmware update if it's a new enough TV. We have a few that I've updated in the past, that's partly why they have USB ports on them now.
-
My thought is drivers need updating. Just like with everything else when it comes to tracking down issues, it's a long process of steps and most of them may not do anything. It's a really good idea to be updated, but yea. It could be the GPU, the cables used, the TV, the ports, the drivers, the OS, I mean... a lot of different stuff can be the culprit.

Even if the site doesn't say it, it still might. I've come across many emulators with basic or custom command line parameters and it's not put down in an easy to find location like a documentations page or a wiki page. RetroArch's commands for example are not easy to find. They are now that our website has tons and tons of mentions of them (which is why we get a ton of RetroArch questions now), but that didn't happen overnight. Getting in contact with the translator or the developer would be best. Obviously the dev is the best choice, but the translator may be easier to reach.

To be fair, I answer the same questions all the time, and to a certain degree I don't mind, but in reality the search does exist, and people do know about it, but a lot of the time some people would rather ask and have it handed to them then do a search. Our search isn't that bad that you can't find stuff. I do tests, and make a search, and If I find the answer within the first page then I do get a bit angry. It is frustrating. I have almost 6k posts, a few keywords does go a long way and even if we had a Wiki that will not stop people, lol, trust me. I still think it's a good idea, like I said, I'll talk to Jason about it and see what he thinks. I wouldn't mind overseeing something like that.
-
Well that's the thing, Jason obviously created that page, and I even created a Wikia long ago, but neither of us really pursued that. Jason didn't want to, at least at the time. I can try and talk to him again, maybe we can do something.

It might support command line, it might just be specific commands that we don't know.

If you find a MAME Extras pack, those usually have a ton of overlays.

The possibility is there that the BIOS and disc images are messed up, that happens a lot actually. Otherwise, I haven't messed with it too much.
-
We use Microsoft and Windows stuff actually.
-
That's... weird. If that's the case I don't know if there is anything Jason could do. I wondered if it was a display issue with LaunchBox, but that leads me to believe not and it's just the remote desktop.
-
Oh, 100%, but right now currently that isn't possible so I am left with the slightly imperfect solution. I do want to say LaunchBox is picking up the conf files though. Reason I say that is because I didn't edit most of my DOS games, but quite a few have conf files placed in their conf field. So if I didn't put them there, and my PC isn't haunted, then I think LB is picking up on them.

Well, this is a request thread for our YouTube videos. Seems I've gotten several requests in the past, which I can't accommodate. Jason also doesn't keep track of this thread. There was another thread related to this where I helped a user with some of this, as it is doable right now in the Marquee feature in Big Box, but there is a bit of a workaround (you'd need to put the images in a folder completely unrelated). As for making it a concrete feature, making a feature request is the best method. Check the BitBucket first to make sure it hasn't already been requested, and then vote on that. If it doesn't exist, request it yourself and vote on your own ticket. Click Issues/Requests at the top to do so.

He's the only one because he's the only one we can afford. He's his own boss, and he hired a few of us as is. In order to hire a proper coder though at an appropriate wage would be very expensive. Jason also has a very very very high bar of quality when it comes to things, and code is the top of that list. We did have a user @Vlansix helping out, donating his time for the Database, but unfortunately life stepped in and he needed to take some time away. We're hoping he'll be able to come back soon, but @Jason Carr has expressed wanting to jump in to the Database sooner rather than later.

Check out our tutorials, I did a few MESS tutorials before I stopped doing them. The first few were MESS standalone and the last one was regular MAME. Just replace the latest versions of MAME with the versions of MESS i talked about. Ctrl + F MESS to find them quicker. That should get you started. I also link to the documentation and the cross reference website. You look up the system on the site, then you take the BIOS name and check on the document. That's how you'll get your command line. In the latest tutorial too I talked about needing to keep a MESS and MAME system separate. Normally, a MAME split rom set is suggested, but I had issues with the last 2 split sets, so for 182 and 183 I suggest non-merged rom sets (only the latest versions have non-merged, .174-.181 split works well also). Either way, both provide software lists BIOS that you'll need for any system.
