  1. It may just be that something was missed or that you have the wrong set potentially. I was more curious about if the set was split, non-merged or merged. Merged has issues for importing and filters (since the structure of the set is not the same), so split and non-merged (non-merged .182 onwards) are generally the best.
  2. Damn, they must have gotten wise.
  3. You can uninstall updates usually too. Back when I had to pirate W7 I uninstalled those updates from time to time.
  4. Then turn off the ram cache for LB, that should help LB be a bit more smooth, but it doesn't do much for Big Box if I recall.
  5. Honestly, not really. When Microsoft starts dropping support for Operating Systems like that, there isn't too much we can do and users should usually upgrade for security reasons. I'm sure you can find older versions out there, but we don't distribute older versions unfortunately.
  6. Then at this point, barring a hardware upgrade, try some of the stuff in here:
  7. That seems pretty odd. How long after boot do you wait to load up Big Box or is it happening right at boot?
  8. CPU clock speed is never the only factor. It's the main factor for LaunchBox, everything is processed through the CPU, and then everything else trickles down, but it can come down to your OS has been installed for a while and not properly maintained so everything is suffering a performance loss, and LB/BB is at the core of that if it's something you use daily and you see videos we post where it works well. Edit: Also, for the record, they both should take advantage of multi-threading. Scrolling through LB just now, my performance monitor spiked in cpu across all cores.
  9. Big Box is a completely different beast. They're comparable in look, sure, but Big Box does a significant amount more and should not be compared.
  10. Your command line is off. You have -L" "-L "cores\...., with the rest of the command. It should be -L "cores\bsnes_balanced_libretro.dll". So extra characters and an extra -L got added.
  11. It's not the default view, so potentially not. It's the one where the covers are fairly big and go across. If you ever used a modded console with a game loader, that's where that type of term comes from; where the covers flow from side to side.
  12. Currently, the only special playlist only sorting is when you click the drop down in the left sidebar and click playlists at the bottom. Sorting them in Platform Categories would probably be a good idea too though, but they're not considered platforms. I think a potential manage playlists option could probably solve that so people can set it to what they want. It depends on what Jason has planned though.
  13. You can. In fact, if you right click any game there is an item to add them to a playlist. From there you click new playlist and a few more options show up. I do think there can be more ways to make it more obvious or easier to get to, but right clicking a single game to create a playlist is there.
  14. I.... misread everything, but I clicked on the game and saw PS1! X_X I missed that you had it on PC. It being Windows 98 era does make it a bit harder to deal with. I'll see if I can't find it.
  15. Sweet, thanks! I knew there was a reason I tell people about these all the time. Is Arcade still a work in progress? Edit: Nevermind.
  16. Something I do want to say for playlists, they're not easily manageable. It should be right in the menu or right click the sidebar and you're off to creating. As far as images:
  17. So, in short, you're really not. There are probably a lot of things that can be done to make it smoother, for sure, but nothing wrong is going on. With gigantic libraries, a performance loss needs to be expected. Some games have 3-4 images with a mix of qualities, and some have 30 images with a mix of qualities. Even if you're not loading that game, LaunchBox and Big Box need to think about where your going, adding more logic. So your ram is fine, increasing the ram cache really only helps in LaunchBox though. I'm not familiar with these new Pentiums, but it depends on how many cores that CPU has, and what your machine is like. How much is being shared across multiple applications? Your GPU is also a bit outdated at this point, and Big Box can take advantage of the GPU. So in short, you're not doing anything wrong, but there is a certain level that you must realize when dealing with a machine that is a bit older. I don't know the specs off hand for that PC that recorded that video, but they were recording video and showing things off. You can take a look at the videos I had shot of Big Box on our channel. I did the Big Box Startup videos tutorials and How to make your LaunchBox look like ours. That's the performance I get, and I don't think the video is outrageous. Try and follow some of the steps in this thread and see if it helps you out at all though, and let me know.
  18. True, which is why I revised my statement in my reply, but you're right, that does lie in themes, and currently there is no theme doing this. So the statement is yes, possible, I am sorry, but it's currently not happening. It still stands, request it to be in the default theme if someone wants, it may get there, but the themes like you create are the best chance for these things to get taken on.
  19. Did you bulk edit the emulator to a different one? It normally would be hard to change emulators for some games in an existing platform, but since it's a playlist it's much easier. Highlight them all, then right click and edit. From the drop down choose Emulator, then from the second drop down choose the new emulator. However, this will change the emulator for that game across all playlists (I believe). Being able to set a custom emulator for just that playlist does sound like a great idea though, so you should request it bu clicking Issues/Requests at the top of the page. Don't forget to vote on the ticket you make. However, if the playtlist treats that game as a unique entity (which I don't think it does), then changing the emulator for it there would only change it there, but I do think that it's just a copy of sorts that is linked. So a change made to a game in a playlist is a change to the game across all of LB.
  20. If they're different file extensions you can use the "Add files" option and use windows search to filter out the extensions you want, then add the ones you do, but this is currently not possible. You could also temporarily move them out of the directory, then back in, but obviously that's tedious. If you'd like to request an ignore option then click on Issues/Requests at the top and request it, if it hasn't been already. Make a quick search and if it has vote on that one instead.
  21. Right, but is there a theme taking advantage of this? There is a ticket for the default theme to have something like this included. Edit: So more aptly, possible, currently not being used? I'd love to see a theme include stuff like this though, and I know how powerful XAML is. There's tons of threads with stuff like this, a theme that adds in a bunch of this would be nice to see.
  22. Good luck! If you have more questions then ask away.
