  1. Never messed with Medafen I'm eventually going to have to hook up Retroarch I guess. I've been avoiding it but everyone always says good things.
  2. I started looking into using Magic Engine and got it up and running with a version that included the .key file. I've scoured the internet but can not for the life of me find a version of Magic Engine FX that isn't the demo. I know this may make me an a$$hole but I wouldn't consider paying for an emulator not because I'm unwilling to pay for this software which I know many many hours are spent creating these awesome programs but because it is basically against everything that the emulation community is about which is people sharing their love of old games with the world. Anyway I was wondering if any one owned it and knows how it is. I know there are 62 games all Japanese so that makes even harder to consider shelling out 20 bucks for games I may never play let alone ones I may not be able to understand well enough to play due to language barriers. I was hoping changing the name of the PCE.KEY file to PCFX file would do the trick but that was a no go.
  3. Go to tools\import\Windows Games and run the Wizard LaunchBox will search and find them.
  4. Sorry about that the command changed with the latest version of demul. Also if anyone is interested here are the .bat files for hiraku and galeco boards. @echo off SET STRING=%1 SET STRING=%STRING:.zip=% SET STRING=%STRING:j:\Emulation\Naomi\ROMs\=% echo %STRING% start demul.exe -run=hiraku -rom=%STRING% @echo off SET STRING=%1 SET STRING=%STRING:.zip=% SET STRING=%STRING:j:\Emulation\Naomi\ROMs\=% echo %STRING% start demul.exe -run=galeco -rom=%STRING% Neither will launch in fullscreen and if I remember correctly DirectX11nrg (I think that is what it is called I'm at a different computer so can't check at the second) will cause an error.
  5. @Paynemaster are you running LaunchBox/BigBox as the shell in your arcade machine and that is why it is tough to update? I want to build an arcade machine also and was thinking of doing so but I had planned to add an applications platform that would allow me to launch explore.exe from within LaunchBox in order to make computer maintenance much simpler. Of course you could always just open the task manager and launch explore.exe from there in order to maintain the computer.
  6. I just copied the script from someone else but from what I believe set string=%string.zip% represents the name of whatever rom you choose I believe since the code doesn't have a path to demul.exe that it must be in the same folder with that file. SET STRING=%1 SET STRING=%STRING:.zip=% SET STRING=%STRING:D:\Games\ROMS\Naomi-DC\=% echo %STRING% start demul.exe -run=Naomi -rom=%STRING%
  7. I wasn't aware of that so when I asked before this is what I was directed to so I guess both will work thanks for sharing your simpler solution if I need to set up the emulator on a new machine I will be sure to use it.
  8. You have to use a .bat file these are the ones I am using. Set the bat up as the emulator and then add which ever platforms you want I have Naomi Naomi 2 Atomiswave @echo off SET STRING=%1 SET STRING=%STRING:.zip=% SET STRING=%STRING:J:\Emulation\Naomi\ROMs\=% echo %STRING% start demul.exe -run=atomiswave -rom=%STRING% @echo off SET STRING=%1 SET STRING=%STRING:.zip=% SET STRING=%STRING:j:\Emulation\Naomi\ROMs\=% echo %STRING% start demul.exe -run=naomi -rom=%STRING%
  9. Yeah you click in the line with the check box and it will put your cursor there and allow you to type in the platform name. I believe that Sony PSP is the correct choice although it will work with PSP also. The Sony PSP name however is already in the platform drop down menu on the import game wizard I prefer to use the names Launchbox automatically recognizes instead of a custom platform like PSP would be. This way you will get the platform metadata that is already in LaunchBox/BigBox.
  10. In the previous versions the associated platform was on the default form for adding emulators down underneath the command line text box.
  11. Ok you are in the emulator details tab of the form which it opens to by default click the associated platform tab and then enter PSP in the blank space
  12. Use the backup to go back to before you removed the games and try again. The method I suggested in my first post worked for me in the past and the duplicate XML entries have never caused me any issues.
  13. do the import again and while going through the form look for the check box to force importing duplicate games that should fix it.
  14. Works on another computer wonder what the issue is on my computer.
  15. That video just comes up black screen for me although if I scan across the progress bar I get thumbnails of the video just nothing shows up on screen.
  16. I just purchased a new Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 on Black Friday and decided to reallocate some of my resources. In my basement I have a 6 monitor desktop setup that was connected to an Asus CG5275 while in my room I had a Asus ET2410 AIO desktop just sitting next to my bed on a tray table (I grabbed the table after spending some time in the hospital (They are great for laptops)). I rarely ever used the AOI in my room so I decided to add it to the multiple monitor setup take the computer from there add the Nvidia 750 TI I had just swapped for the 960 and switch it up with the Asus U50F notebook I was using as an HTPC in the basement sitting area (yes I have computer purchasing issues in my defense though I did acquire the 5275 as payment for a debt and only when it was my only recourse to be compensated.) I plan on setting it up with a 4TB internal and installing a whole collection of games like in my room and in the kitchen for now because I kind of have my eye on a new 6th gen i5 with the 750 TI but that means a new board also which isn't too much since I have every thing else I need already lying around I would just need those two components but I digress. Anyway since I added AIO as the sixth monitor in the setup that freed up another monitor which I decided to add in my room but since it is only 24 inches and across the room on the dresser it is a little hard to see so I have LaunchBox showing on it pretty much all of the time now I just need to figure out what to do with the U50F Anyway here is some pics For some odd reason it is displaying the picture upside down but it show correctly if you click on it.
  17. what I am saying that the lower half reference is from an older version of LB it is no longer there now there is an associated platform tab that contains the information that used to be in lower portion of the form The first image is of the general tab the second image is the associated platform tab they used to be combined and the associated platform represents what was originally the bottom half that is referenced in the older post.
  18. Agreed I have 19K games on my i7 4770 16gb of RAM and it works very quickly. Same for an i5 3330 8GB of RAM and around 8k games. I also have it on a few other PC's ranging from a Pentium chip, a i3, a few mobile i3's, a mobile i5 and an older core 2 duo and they work good with 1000s of games on them. The only issue I've had with speed is on a Atom with only 1GB of RAM and turning off caching in the settings fixes he issue and in that case LaunchBox isn't to blame the PC's low end specs are at fault.
  19. ok after some brief research I found that this is an old Russian computer. What do you use to emulate it? How many games are there for it? Are any of the games worth playing? I don't have any old computer systems added to Launchbox only Coin-op, Consoles, a few modern PC games and handhelds I'm considering getting into computers next after I finally get my last few consoles completed. I thought I had a lot of systems going on my setup until I saw your list I've never even heard of a lot of the things you got going on there.
  20. the lower half would now be found in thee associated platform tab Jason revamped the form since the original post so it has changed slightly.
  21. I still have a few VCR's around although none of them are actually hooked up to anything. My grandmother had a huge collection of VHS tapes that she had made from laser disc movies that she had and from recording TV. My brother and I spent a few summers with her and my grandfather out in Arizona which is far cry from our home in urban New Jersey. We saw some really good old movies while hanging out with my grandmom which gave me an appreciation for film of all era's something many of my peers didn't share they hated anything in black and white and just assumed that because it was old that it wasn't any good in retrospect many of them have turned out to be cretins but I digress. I believe that my grandmothers movie collecting is what got me into having a massive film and Television library of my own which I share with my family and friends thanks to Plex.
  22. I have a post on how to setup your X-Box app somewhere on here. I use it to Launch the app and then use the app to stream my X-Box to all of my HTPC's. I don't know if it would work for all of your individual games or not but I know it can launch the XB app. Here is a link to the above mentioned thread (yeah I was going to be lazy and not look it up but decided against it)
  23. Yeah research can definitely help out I bought a Samsung TV a few years ago and it is a beautiful TV but I didn't realize that it had a separate gaming setting for the longest time I blamed my PC and my controllers for terrible lag that was occurring especially when playing Mario Golf 64. Maybe if I would have done some research then I would have had some understanding of what my problem was. Until I read about the issue I never would have thought that the TV was the culprit.
  24. You have to add them into the game directly by using the edit Window it doesn't matter what they are named once you add them to the game they will be renamed the whatever the games title is and placed in the folder for what ever category that you placed it under. You can place them in the folders yourself but if they are not named the same as the title then they won't be recognized as linked to the game, also you may have to open the edit window any way before you see the images (at least from my experience).
  25. Thanks for letting me know I'm assuming that it is in English so I will just have to switch up to the European version if it works.
