Retroarch saves its base keyboard settings in the retroarch.cfg file but as far as to where it stores the Mame controller settings are I have not been able to figure that one out yet.

Console logos would be tricky since those are covered under trademark by their respective companies.

You cannot yet but I believe that this is something that has been talked about.

You have 2 options. You can either remove your games from LB without deleting them from the hard drive and then re-import your games but you don't have to re scrape all the media files since those will still be in their respective folders. The other option if you are using the exact same rom set just in a different location is to use notepad++ to edit the .xml for the platform. Use the find and replace all to replace the old path with the new one. Your playlist should still be intact since those xml files contain no path data whatsoever.

If you are talking about the menu you get when you press Tab on the keyboard the first place I would look is in that menu itself. Go to Input (General) > User Interface and the 3rd line down Config Menu, check the bindings there and see if there is anything set there for your controller.

If you are using the stand alone version of Mame open the plugin.ini found in your Mame folder and set hiscore to 1 If you are talking about in Retroarch I don't know but I will take a look and see what I can figure out. Edit: I couldn't find anything for the latest core but according to a post over on the Retroarch forums you can get an appropriate hiscore.dat for the mame2003 core and put that in your Retroarch\system\mame2003 folder. I tried this and couple of other things with the latest Mame core with no success unfortunately.

You can keep the collection small and curated and have it fit on a a smaller drive. My HTPC only has a 160 gig HD in it and it has a lot fo space left on it. Basically I avoid video files and I keep my CD based collections to only games I really like and will play. My "Arcade" platform on that setup is using a stripped out Mame rom set using the "No FIller" batch file I have uploaded here, it's just the necessary stuff without all the junk.

While I don't have any first hand experience with the Acer Predator it was a monitor I was considering before buying the Asus PG278Q. I would just say if you are wanting to buy it for emulation only it is a lot of money but if you are going to be using it for general PC gaming and maybe some production work and you are willing to spend the cash on it you won't be disappointed with it. G-Sync is a wonderful thing for gaming but keep in mind you will be locking yourself into Nvidia graphics cards to take advantage of it. Not a bad thing necessarily, just something to keep in mind.

As far as I am aware of there is no Launchbox manual available other than the Youtube tutorial videos. This was something I was talking to @SentaiBrad about a few nights ago. I was checking out a new front end called Metropolis and it has a really nice .chm manual included with it and I think it would be something really nice to have. There is the wiki page found here: https://www.launchbox-app.com/wiki/launchbox but it is extremely far from complete and needs a lot of work done on it.

And if you don't mind the messing around with digging out controllers to hook up when needed or having an absolute mess laying around.

I would just say what I have said in the past. Use a Hori Fight Commander for anything that is D-Pad only and then whatever analog controller you like best for games that require an analog stick. Whether that's a 360 controller or a Playstation controller (or something else) it's up to personal preference. I understand people have that nostalgia for authentic controllers but personally I cannot be bothered to track down a collection of good working original controllers plus a usb converter. The Hori FC is basically perfect for anything that does not require an analog stick. It has all the buttons you could need plus a few more and the d-pad is perfection. I have also used so many different controllers over my 35+ years of gaming that I have no "allegiance" to any one controller.

With no bugs at all would probably be SNES using the Higan or BSnes Accuracy core or Genesis emulation with Genesis GX core. PS2 has a lot of bugs in its emulation. Even Dolphin (Wii + Gamecube) and PS1 emulation has some bugs.

There are no "big packs" of textures that I am aware of but there are some packs you can get here http://www.emutalk.net/forums/134-Completed-Projects I recommend the Djipi Zelda packs to check them out.

Yes, just replace the references to GLupeN64 in the original post with Mupen64plus. So your GlideN64 compatible texture packs would go in \system\Mupen64plus\cache and then in the core settings enable "Use High-Res textures" and "Use High-res Full Alpha Channel"

If your rom set is an FBA specific set you may run into some issues with certain games so take that under consideration.

These are the exact same issues I had with the stand alone version of FBA and is why I recommend using either the Retroarch version of it or better yet Mame.

I have cleaned up this thread and deleted a bunch of unnecessary posts from both users and moderators. I have now unlocked this thread for people who are having performance issues to post their system specs along with a couple of notes in the spec post if they wish. When posting your system specs, please post your CPU type and speed, how much system ram you have, graphics card type and vram, and operating system. Example: Windows 10 64-bit AMD 8350 @ 4.0 GHz 16 Gigs ram Nvidia GTX970 4 gigs vram If you feel like you want to post your system specs and you have good performance please do so but only post your specs and any settings or tweaks you made to get better performance. Any other posts will be removed.

If he wants to helpful he can post a bitbucket ticket since that is where @Jason Carr will see it instead of a random post in a random thread that he won't see. And it is abusive when he just resorts to calling it "shit" and acting like an ass about it. No one said you don't know how to use the software. We only pointed to a thread with some helpful tips to improve performance because many of us around here do not experience these performance issues that a small handful of people are having. I am now locking this thread because there is nothing else constructive to be added to it and it will degrade in civility.
