  1. This is a large investment workaround and it has some minus sides, especially considering exo and Jason are working on a new set... and with Jason involved will probably sync beautifully with launchbox. But, if you set up exodus through rocketlauncher, admittedly a little tricky, you can import your entire exodus set as roms and leave them that way, just use rocketlauncher as the emulator. Perk: you can leave your games zipped and point rl to the folder containing the configs, and launch the games from the zips. Adds a couple of seconds to the launch. Downside, the set does not scrape well in LB as is, and there is media I guess only available to people who use the meager export function. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  2. Does it refuse to load at all, or are you just getting a black screen? I ask because 64 bit here I blackscreened with glupen until I changed a specific setting. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  3. Did you check what your buttons are bound to in bigbox? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  4. I'm reaching far back in memory here, but there are multiple ways to bulk edit media files. If I recall, I was able to do it based on either an xml and even rom names. I'm sorry I can't remember which programs I used. I think one using xml was for roms and I just changed the filename it looked for to png so it thought my media was roms. Maybe FatMatch? 5. Well, I don't know if the launchbox interface supports controllers. Even if it doesnt, would not be hard to map to joy 2 key. Having said that, bigbox (which comes with premium) is a godsend for controllers. It supports key combo buttons for exiting emulators. A couple of days ago I navigated to play super metroid, then without taking my hand off the controller I closed it, navigated to re7 in big box, launched it and was playing it, xbox controls the entire time. And if you us RA you can do most if not all of your emulator configuration with the controller too, after initial setup. We live in the future haha Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk

    Gog icons

If you find a good solutiom, I won't if we could start a gog pack? It is a good idea. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  7. I don't think so... but it wouldn't do much good. LB already scrapes surprisingly well. And I would think the database would want to be as inclusive as possible for all rom sets. Best way to do that, I guess, is just to use the game name, and fuzzy match roms to that. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  8. It still has to read the xml... but it doesn't display the boxart.... haha... I'm not sure. I do the same thing, though. I usually hide the games missing box art. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  9. It's common. Number one: the LB database is a work in progress... an enormous one, and I think prioritizing north American releases for now. Number 2: I don't think it uses no intro naming at all, it works because scraping can usually ignore the region tag and the game names are similar enough. Some will slip through these cracks. If you intend to fill in the missing metadata, might I suggest trying to add it to the official database? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  10. I don't know. I've seen a performance increase since I put lb on an ssd. But I also upgraded my video card, and with all the updates I couldn't tell what caused it. No stutter when scrolling artwork in bigbox. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  11. Either one of these babies work great http://pressthebuttons.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83452033569e20120a4f4bace970b-600wi I have both. But you need to get a cheap adapter from amazon. My main computer is on the couch in the living room so wireless isn't really an option for me, but just remember these controllers aren't really all that good for newer type gaming. I mean, I don't know what nintendo thinks with these joysticks. But in terms of D-pads and buttons, they are the best. The smaller of the two breaths and sits better in the hand, but if you haven't held a super nintendo controller in a while, its going to feel tiny at first.
  12. You're right my bad. That was Chris Upchurch. But to echo what lordmonkus said, all of your concerns seemed to be centered around the things you chose to import. There are plenty of options to reduce the amount, or not import any artwork, and then the importing of huge systems is just as quick as HyperSpin, not to mention it creates an xml for you as opposed to having to insert an xml and then match your games to it. You also seem to ignore the fact that the import process is a one time setup, and after that, it's done. I don't see any reason to compare the two front ends but: Did Hyerbase release yet? I know for a fact you can't preview media in Hypersync. On top of that, it's a platinum only service, IE paid service. Yes, you can import every system into launchbox. Launchbox and rocketlauncher are now designed to work together. If you're seeing different numbers of games , it's because you didn't utilize the LB plugin correctly in Rocketlauncher. If you don't want extra artwork, don't download it. The list goes on. It isn't that I mind critiques, especially considering the LB dev is active AF, it's just that yours aren't good.
  13. So I've been using an xbox one elite controller for a while now. Pros: I mean it's workable on everything from the magnovox odyssey to Resident Evil 7 biohazard without taking my hands from the controller. Can be wireless with an inexpensive adapter that works really well. Xbox joysticks are superior in my opinion Fully functional D-pad Plug and Play in Windows Having said all that, if I'm being completely honest, if I was going wired, I'd probably go with the ps4 controller. It's not even about the D-pad. It's the buttons. In a lot of snes platformers, for instance, you have to hold one of the buttons while pressing other buttons (for instance, you go through most of Super Metroid holding the "Dash" button and still have to jump and shoot without taking your finger off of dash. This is much more cumbersome on the xbox controller than on the ps4. The D-pad on the elite is actually at least equal to ps4 dpad in my opinion, because of the exchangeable button, but you have to get used to the thumb placement. I don't think the d-pad on the regular xbox one controller is (even if workable) anyway near is good as either. I would almost recommend getting one of the controllers for the nvidia shield tablet. Oddly enough, its a great retrogaming controller. Better than both of the above for platformers. But, I don't think it would make a good controller for new games relying on the joystick. And furthermore, I don't even know if it works in windows. I think the ideal solution for maximum playability would probably be using a wired Wii Classic Controller for retro games (by far the best option IMO) and then either the ps4 or the xbox one for everything else.

  15. I think the two things which matter most is the ghz, and the video card. Those are good processors but the higher over 3 ghz the better, and the video cards are standard. I can't say whether or not they'll run Sega model 3 tho. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  16. Haha. It happens. Glad you got it working. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
  17. Did you possibly make a mistake in binding the keys to RetroArch? I've used regular xbox 360 and now an xbox one elite controller with RA for years. Never had this problem. What do you have the B button bound to? In RA go to "Input" and then "Input Hotkey Binds" and make sure you don't have that same button bound to something in there that could be causing your problem. The fact that this same odd behavior happens on more than one controller suggests this is most likely a configuration issue rather than a hardware one.
  18. BigBox froze for me for the first time since I can remember yesterday. Same scenario, had to task manager kill it. It looked like it froze trying to load the artwork for a particular system. Does it freeze every time you start it?
  19. Maybe it really is just with that emulator. I mean the good news is that RA is not only a viable alternative, its better in a lot of ways than project 64 at this point. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
  20. Its an odd problem to have. I use an xbox one controller as well, and have no problems closing 64 games, but I use RetroArch, so I'm not sure if maybe this is just a problem with that particular emulator. I doubt it. You shouldn't be using the Show Launchbox hotkey at all. I have that unbound. That's for if you want to pull up launchbox while the emulator is still running, I think. Are you possibly making Launchbox the Active Window BEFORE you exit the active window? I'm really not patronizing, but "exit active window" means just that. It's not an "exit this emulator" hotkey. In order for it to work, the emulator has to be the active window.
  21. I'm not 100 percent sure of this, but make sure you're setting up your exit key under Controller Automation in Bigbox, not Controller Buttons. Under Controller Buttons there is an "Exit" you can bind, but I'm not exactly sure what it does, and I have it bound to nothing.
  22. A more involved solution is to use Rocketlauncher. Once you get it set up, changing cores on a per game basis is easy. You just click "edit global module settings", add whatever game using the big green plus sign, and choose the core you want to launch that particular game with.
  23. Sure, no problem. If you mean the naming of the buttons, it's a nightmare. Especially for the 64. You just have to remember that YOUR buttons, the ones on your controller, whether you're using a logitech, PS or Xbox controller, are named according to the super nintendo controller in RetroArch. I searched for a long time yesterday and couldn't find a way to change it. I figured there would be a cfg file for Retropad somewhere, but I couldn't find one nor any documentation on where the button names are stored. Which sucks because it means you have to solve Einsteins Conundrum when you want to change the standard Retropad layout, which I always do. Quick resource for understanding why the buttons are named like they are in Retropad: https://wiki.libretro.com/index.php?title=RetroPad
  24. I put this in Monkeys because it's only really useful in a very specific set of circumstances. So far that set of circumstances amounts to Smash Bros 64 in RetroArch for controller users. I'm taking the time to write it out because it took me a while of heartarch to figure it out, but wound up being really simple. So the problem is that in RetroArch (any 64 core) the feature of "Hold this button to activate the C buttons" is sluggish, at least for me, in a game like Smash. I need responsiveness. Smash Bros jump ability for all characters is limited to either pressing up on the joystick or pressing a C button. I never felt right using the joystick, even on the 64, and holding a trigger every time I wanted to jump was not really an option for me, so in essence I wanted to map the "Activate C buttons" button AND the "Jump" button (in this case any C button) to the same button on the controller, which it turns out is totally possible using game overrides. You can do it all within the RA menu. Just open up the quick menu, go to controls. Easier to explain via example: Active C buttons: bound to the B button on my controller. C(up): Bound to the B button on my controller. Now when I press the B button is quickly activates the C buttons AND presses C(up) and viola, B button jumps. Then just scroll up to save game override and you're good to go. Only useful if you're really not going to be using any of the other C buttons.* Yall, I'm serious, that took me wayyyyy to long to figure out. But now its time to play some Smash.
  25. Yeah I'd love to see the videos. My parents bought me consoles but we were very much not a computer family so I don't know much about modding. As long as you weren't one of them dudes shooting warthogs at me out of a rocketlauncher in Halo, we good, haha Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
