Looks like I'm in business again. After a few hours, beta 9 seemed to be out there and LaunchBox downloaded it. I am guessing server load, or something. I nuked all my playlists and had LB recreate them and all seems ok on that front now. Thanks!

I just noticed I have a number of duplicate Playlists after upgrading to Beta 9 and redoing my MAME metadata and Platform import. The lists that are duplicates also have different amounts of games in them, so they aren't true duplicates across the board, but they exist and if you edit one and try to hit OK without changing anything, LaunchBox tells you that you can't have duplicate Playlist names. Any suggestions as to how to clean this up without getting into worse trouble?

Hmm, has beta 9 been taken down? Neither of my installations here is updating from beta 6, and I verified all the Update settings in the Options panel are still correct and unchanged.

I don't have this system set up so I can't test this, but I have some old notes that say to hit F3 in MAME after you get the scrambled screen, the hit Q.

Actual recommendations will probably need an estimate of your budget for a PC itself, not including anything extra like a cabinet, arcade type controller, etc. As far as size goes, you can go with a small in size unit, as long as it has the right kind of cpu, memory, and graphics capability, or a larger, desktop tower unit with basically the same components as the small unit, but will more than likely give you more expansion abilities, i.e. storage, more efficient cooling, etc.

I have had a 'three' copy backup of EVERYTHING I do for quite a while. I just lost a drive for my 2nd copy volume, so I need to decide what I'm going to do going forward. A lot of my drives are beyond their normal life expectancy, so I need to do some GB/$ calculations. Why three copies? Read this: https://www.backblaze.com/blog/the-3-2-1-backup-strategy/ I have learned from hard experience over the years working in IT that one backup only is a mistake. You eventually will have a multi-drive failure across purposes of use that gets you right where it hurts. I know some people have never had a data loss, and I congratulate them. Me? Not so lucky.

@fyrenthenimar, here are the four for the collections/Playlists. I'm still working on a Supervision set.

Did you check the Intel graphic drivers as was suggested earlier? Outdated Intel drivers can cause all kinds of strange behavior.
-
The stand alone Demul should support CHD files as well.

@fyrenthenimar, the Epoch, Emerson and AAE archives are up.

What Suhrvivor said. I meant to expound a little more, but failed miserably. I have kept an old copy of chdman from an older MAME build which outputs V4 CHD conversions. That gets me around the CHD incompatibility that can show up.

Yes, edit the custom command line for each of those games needing the Intellivoice feature.
-
The command line used to be: mame intv -cart voice -cart2 gamename
