i don't use the delete rom option, so i'm not sure what all it deletes, but yes that sounds like a reasonable guess. there are also MAME roms which need all kinds of other files to play, unless you have non merged sets.
-
yeah that would be really cool if it could do that. but i doubt it will ever be able to do it for games that require more than one single file. i think the closest you could come is to backup your full sets where one full backup copy of each set is inside the LB games folder (import from there and still leave in their current location when asked), then have LB set to delete the game roms when you delete from LB. Edit: oh yeah, i forgot about the scan for new roms feature. i guess you could use that too like @DOS76 said (instead of importing), but i don't know if that new rom scan will also get you artwork and metadata. i never used that feature before.

I'm not a DOSbox expert, but the link you put to that game says it already includes DOSbox and is configured for it, so I would think it would work if you imported it like a PC game into Launchbox using the batch file. There are others here who know much more than me about DOSbox games.

Yes, I use that with xbox 360 and one controllers, and it works with Cemu and all other emulators. But it works because of LB. Edit: this works from Launchbox/Bigbox. Exiting things from Steam is a totally different story. I use Steam Link on one of my systems and I prefer to launch Bigbox from Steam Link and have BB launch all my emulators. I have no issues this way.

That's good. When you have to run chkdsk to repair things, it can also be an indication of a drive going bad. I'd run chkdsk one or two more times if I were you, and keep an eye on Windows event viewer every now and then to see if it's logging disk errors (like bad sectors). If it is, it's likely a bad drive.

If you're worried about any files being corrupted on your internal drive (the LB copy) and you know they are good on your external drive, you can get some free folder file checksum tool to compare to the two Launchbox folders to see if it finds anything that doesn't match, or you could try copying the entire folder to external again (but maybe it will happen again if something isn't right about your external drive or permissions or something else).

But the folder IS there? And you deleted this folder and it doesn't have a problem now? But I assume you have no front box images in your LB app either right? Edit: Seems like I see two xml files that could be related to the images. Maybe settings.xml (the main LB settings file) and platforms.xml (genesis section) Edit2: Sounds like you'll need to put a new empty front box folder back and copy some good images in there (or import again)

controller automation is suddenly causing a big problem
ckp replied to ckp's topic in Troubleshooting
Did the ahk solution from this page work for you? -
There is probably at least one xml file somewhere in your data folder that is messed up. You could use the process of elimination to try to find it (moving file(s) out of there one by one until it launches ok, or you can restore the files from the backup folder from a time where everything worked. Is there any error at all?

Additional apps - Run after not waiting until game exits
ckp replied to BuckoA51's topic in Troubleshooting
I wonder if an option to run after controller automation's exit key combo kicks in, could solve this for things like Steam games and others? -
Are any of the LB controller mappings or settings in Controller Automation using the left and right triggers?

Bigbox starts with windows 7 taskbar showing.
ckp replied to AlmightyTurboman's topic in Troubleshooting
This issue comes up a lot (and another new one just came up before yours). In most cases I have read about, it was due to some other software, like MSI Afterburner or some other running application stealing focus. Other people would try disabling other software and/or services to pinpoint which one was cause the focus issue. There is also a hide taskbar setting in BB you could try toggling to see if it makes any difference. -
you should leave this field blank "Default Command-Line Parameter"

i use nomousy.exe. i would think it should still run even if the explorer.exe shell isn't running, but i haven't tried that. you could try to see. -
i think it's pretty safe to move what you need to and we can help fix paths. if you move your LB folder to a diff drive than roms and emulators, it's likely you need to fix the paths to the emulators and roms. if you move all three to a different drive, keeping all the paths exactly the same as they were on the first drive, just having a drive letter that is different, it's likely everything will just work without any changes. make a copy of your Data folder before you start changing xml files.

i don't use an emulator for my pc games in LB, but another bonus of doing it that way is you get to use the global emulator AHK tab that can be applied to all those pc games, in case you ever needed that for something.

yeah, i have the same issue. currently the only real way is a 2nd LB install like @madpossum suggested. i don't want to do that, so i just don't give them free access without me there. so i set the playlist view for them and just make sure they stay there Edit: if there was just one tiny little setting to prevent a user from switching the view (as well as the current lock feature) without a pin/password or something, that would solve it for me. then i could just leave the playlist view. simple. Edit again: oh man, maybe that wouldn't work either, because i want to use playlists also. i guess they would see all playlists. maybe the custom filters for this since i don't use those for myself...

You can have things wherever you want. If you move things around after configuring LB, then you can fix all the paths to things that broke by editing the .xml files in your Data folder using mass edits with something like Notepad++

Thanks all. Turns out I still like the default theme best.

hi, i'm feeling crazy and adventurous, and want to finally try the coolest LB theme (most popular, since coolest is very subjective), regardless of it needing a strong system or not (i have a beast). so, i'm wondering if someone can point me to the steps required to get this theme fully up and running and how to restore everything back to my default plain old out of box Bigbox (cuz i like the default!). i don't want any of my current videos used for my default BB to be overwritten (like the NyNy platform videos i added), so i can restore back if desired. guess i should black some stuff up. i have never ventured into the custom theme LB world, so i know absolutely nothing about it. have a feeling there is more to it than just setting a theme name in some drop list, but that would be great if that's all you have to do.

Does this happen with Launchbox too (not bigbox?)? Does it happen if running any other full screen apps or games?
-
yeah, it can match the LB game title name or the rom file name. many don't match title and many do. i have my own vid snaps and don't pay Emumovies for snaps, so i guess i'll rename one at a time over time (i have like 1700 games in my amiga library and i'd say about 5-10% don't match). i never saw a reason to pay for video snaps. this is the only time i've ever had trouble with them. it might be worth mentioning this as a note in your awesome tutorial. thanks again for that tutorial!
