Shadowbanned on Reddit by asking for help there ??
neil9000 replied to stevaside's topic in Troubleshooting
Thats not true at all, you have had plenty of support here. We ask you questions to help us troubleshoot your issues, which you skirt around in your replys but not really providing the actual information asked for, or simply ignore the questions completely. You then proceed to make another thread about the same issue and the whole cycle starts again. There are only two paid employees here for Launchbox Jason and Christian, who are the devs and spend most of there time coding, and occasionally pop into the forums. All the moderators and other users here are just that, other users. The moderators in particular are not compensated in any way for the support we provide on the forums, we do it because we love the product and enjoy the community around it. However we all have family and jobs, and do this in our spare time, so users just "expecting" every single post they make is going to get a response is asking a lot, moderators and users are under no obligation to answer any of the posts/threads on these forums, we do so however out of love for the program, in our spare time, when we can. -
A revision will have a different file name, so its a different game at that point.

You can, but Launchbox isnt really desighned for that, its designed for a keyboard and mouse. Bigbox is the UI designed for controllers. As for emulatours, yes you have to setup controls in them.

Have you tried refreshing the images for that platform? Also your image has a degree symbol rather than being spelt out like my image.
-
Did you use the MAME fullset importer? Did you uncheck import clones by any chance? 720 shows images for me just fine, and i also have the clones in the right click menu. Also what image type do you have your Arcade platform set to show, and have you checked your image priorities to make sure that "Advertisement - Front" is also set to show as Arcade games dont have actual boxes for the most part and have a image category of "Advertisement - Flyer".

To be honest i dont know, its not something i have any interest in myself, i know how i would rate a game, i dont really care what others may think of it.
-
I would assume your own personal rating isnt included as there is a separate data point for your own rating.

I will note that there are no previews as to the media you download. The media import screen will still look the same even with a premium subscription, you will just have some extra options for Manuals. Music, and Videos.

Also backup your data folder, Launchbox will do this automatically, but its always good to have it NOT on the same drive for a true backup.

OK this is how for retroarch, see attached file, download it rename the actual file to what you want so that you recognize it in the UI. Open the file with notepad, or even better notepad++ and change the part with the .png name to whatever the image is that you want to show, obviously the image needs to be in the same folder as the .cfg. GenesisMini.cfg

You are using a old version of mame. Go to tools/manage emulators/mame and delete the commandline that references the keyboard input. That will fix it.

Strange behavior downloading Media from Emumovies (?)
neil9000 replied to NightShadowPT's topic in Noobs
The problem there is that other systems have completely different games that have the same name. You will likely end up with a ton of ZX Spectrum or C64 games as they have HUGE library's with games with identical names to more "famous" games from other systems. I mean it still happens with new games, Resident Evil 2 Remake for example, that will often get scraped as the original game as the name is the same, but the remake really is a different game to the original. At the end of the day its easier to fix a few incorrect matches after a import than to have to correct nearly all of them due to wrong games/platforms details being scraped. -

It's not a system though, it's a Arcade board, no different to any other Arcade game so is scraped under Arcade. You wouldnt expect to your NES platform to scrape SNES games as they are both Nintendo right? Same idea here. The scraper only scrapes the platform you specify, this is a conscious decision as to avoid mis-matching games. If the scraper took every platform into account a large proportion of your games would be incorrectly scraped. Once imported the scraper is less strict, but still sticks to the platform YOU specified it was. -

Odd how? It IS a Arcade system, so that is how it should be scraped. -
AUTOMATIC SHUTDOWN WINDOWS AT BIG BOX EXIT
neil9000 replied to shady8knight's topic in Troubleshooting
What, why? A menu option to complicated for you? In fact i think you will find that most people would not want a combo to shutdown there PC, thats just asking for trouble when you have kids around. -
Just the 68GB split.

Yes i know what you meant, my reply stands.

Whatever Windows Media Player and VLC support, i can comfirm 4K works fine as long as your hardware supports it.

Its up to you if you want a new set or not. 0.204 isnt that old in the grand scheme of things, but you would have a few games imported that wont work for you, as Launchbox is using the current working games list, so any games marked as working since 0.204 will show in Launchbox, but likely wont work as you would be using version 0.204 of the MAME emulator. There wouldnt be many of those though, and you can always just delete any from Launchbox if you come across them.

MAME is easy in Launchbox these days, you can use any of the three set types and use the "MAME fullset importer" if you leave the settings at there defaults it will only import the actual working games into Launchbox, so around 2900 roms at this point i think.
