  1. so i googled "cso game compression" and found this amazing thread.
  2. just use ReShade 3.0 its very good for just about ANY game (not just emulated games, I mean literally any game)
  3. @kmoney actually i just realized why it wasnt working last time, i had it set in launchbox "extract rom before running". thats why it didnt work. I just got done going through all my emulator settings this morning playing with various arguments and such and I remember I unchecked that box.
  4. it seems to be working now. idk why it didnt work before. last time i did it it did not make an index file, now it is making them and its loading very fast. thx!
  5. according to this post here, a lot of emulators natively support .zips and such, but in reality, they dont. I will try the GZIP method one more time and see what happens, but so far, all of my testing has boiled down to "1GB or more = dont compress it"
  6. i did what you said. found a video guide. it was literally just a guy saying "use gzip compression" tried it. its no better or worse than any other compression type. from my own testing with all kinds of various options in 7zip, it doesnt matter what compression settings you use. if the file is huge (in this case over 1 gig) it will take a good amount of time to decompress. thats all there is to it. Good rule of thumb for anyone else out there trying to compress their ROMs to save space, just use these settings for all files under 1 GB (if the rom is over 1GB, i recommend not compressing it at all) Archive Format: 7z Compression level: Ultra Compression Method: LZMA2 Dictionary Size: 128 MB Word Size: 273 Solid Block Size: (this value will change depending on the size of the file(s) you are compressing. if your ROM (or .bin or w/e) is 500 MB, choose a solid block size of 512 MB, etc etc etc) Number of CPU threads: Max (choose the highest number of threads 7zip will allow you to)
  7. so I'm going through my games folder inside launchbox and I notice something that is...well...triggering the hell out of me. when you first import a ROM, you get many options for organizing the ROMs. which is great. i like them. I use them. the problem.....is sometimes.....launchbox gets it wayyyyy wrong. example: import Castlevania Symphony of the Night, launchbox thought it was "Castlevania Chronicles". no biggie. edit and rename it, rescrape the meta data. done. simple right? ....nope the Metadata is correct. the title is correct. but the folder names, rom names, and the general paths are still wrong. the actual game rom file is still inside a folder called "Castlevania Chronicles".....well....I dont want that...I want it to rename it to the correct game title "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night". Another "interesting" thing launchbox does sometimes, launchbox has decided to Duplicate certain games. Here is what I mean. I've got 6 folders, each has the same name, same files inside, same everything. with only 1 small difference. here are the folders Mega Man X4 [1997] MEGAMAN X4 [1997] Mega Man X5 MEGAMAN X5 Mega Man X6 MEGAMAN X6 now I can clean this up myself manually, but this is going to be a pain to keep rechecking and re-editing the various game folders and metadata manually. Is there a way to tell launchbox to sort through all these and rename/reorganize them according to their CURRENT Metadata? -edit- just noticed another really bad sorting issue, Mega Man 8 (a ps1 game) is for some reason in the SNES directory.....
  8. ohhh. that makes way more sense. Thanks!
  9. yah. we get that. we are asking to make it switch automatically when we enter a certain Platform/Playlist. I think playlist would be best, that way we could have specific game series themes.
  10. where can I get those Platform Banners? they are very nice nvm i found it
  11. @bd00 here you go, noticed you were missing a SNES template. very high res so people can make very good box arts SNES-US-TEMPLATE.psd
  12. ??? I am confused as to what you're asking for???
  13. the idea here is to make our video's look better, easier. lets say youve got a video you want to include in your Big Box for a game (using my own personal example here because its the game Im currently playing), lets say Growlanser Heritage of War. you record your video, it looks nice, but you dont really know how/have the programs needed to make it into one of those super nice "Theme" video's that some others are making here. No Problem! Find a fanart background you like, stick the video right into it, automatically give the video a border (like the one in CZ2) so it looks nice, and you're done! So, what do I mean when I say all this? Well here's a screenshot of a typical "theme" video found on this forum. Note: the foreground image (overlay) doesnt move at all, its completely static. The only moving part of this video is the Generic gameplay footage on the top Right corner. wouldnt it be easier to just let people make their own Generic Gameplay footage and pick an image similar to this and the video outputs to it. So lets say youve got an image (like the one above) and where the Top Right Box is, its just Transparent. So it would play the video on the layer Under the Image (I assume using Z-indexing???) Thoughts? (Im not sure I did a good job explaining this, but I hope you all understand)
  14. it would be great if we could delete our own change/update requests on the Database. I just accidently uploaded the same image twice, but I cant do a thing about it. all I can do is hope people are smart and pick the first one to be approved and the second one to be rejected. -update- also I just realized I posted this in the wrong section. please move to the proper section. thx!
  15. check the naming convention of images for that game that WORK, copy paste the naming convention over to your other images and change the number at the end. I noticed with some games, for w/e reason, launchbox was adding "_" (underscores) inplace of Spaces. idk why. it only happens for a few games.
  16. also guys, pay attention to your audio settings. I just noticed that some of the audio of some vids was bad. had to backtrack and fix them. it seems to only happen sometimes (i think its the vids that are encoded to be 5.1 surround and then Handbrake tries to make them 2 ch stereo)
  17. these are the options that I have. so i dont have hevc either
  18. i tried that. it doesnt do it for me
  19. theres supposed to be a way to do a large amount of vids at the same time, but i havnt figured out how to get it to do it (it has something to do with the QUEUE and setting up prefrences and such)
  20. no idea. also, here is an example of my typical compressions. The MP4 is the original, the M4V (still an MP4 format) is the compressed one.
  21. i am having no issues playiing them in either Launchbox or BigBox. i even tried compressing a video, then compressing the compressed video, just to see what would happen. it compressed it a tiny bit more, but there was still no loss of quality. HOWEVER, the compression only works for "most" videos. some of the vids i have were already very small to start with (like 5 MB) and when attempting to compress them (it makes a new copy so your original is safe) it actually output a larger file (around 9 MB). Im not sure why this is, but w/e. It works really well for larger file sizes. Most of my vids are 50 MB or higher, and they compress down to around 15 MB or so every time.
