LaunchBox and Big Box both have controller support that can be changed in the options menu. Just tell it you want to use whatever controller device the Ally registers as (or can just check "Enable All Controllers") and then set the bindings to the buttons you want them to be on.

Importing bezels from the Bezel Project using the LB import tool
C-Beats replied to Tempest's topic in Troubleshooting
We may be doing a case sensitive search instead of case-insensitive like we probably should be. I'll have to take a look into the code and verify. -
Mini Console Nostalgia - Form over Function (WIP)
C-Beats replied to Saieno's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
I can't help you with CTC settings as I've never used the app but I could potentially help with the XAML. What are you attempting to do? -
If OneDrive has the files we need to read/write to locked because it's attempting to sync it'd cause LaunchBox to fail to open.

What drive format is your SSD using? Is it Fat32 or NFTS?

Issue with a lot of this stuff is being able to find models that work in the app well. Some models wouldn't be AS bad as they are unique and don't require us manually altering the required files to display the texture on. At the moment there are no solid plans on adding models outside of box models. Maybe one we have all THOSE models in we can look at adding others, but adding them before Box models are done doesn't seem like the best path forward. Realistically this feature would implemented in a way where in the game model overrides you can override with a specific model file you point us to and we load for you. This would give you the flexibility to find and utilize any model you wanted without us being tasked with the immense task of finding or creating procedural models that can be used to display models with artwork from your collection.

Big box (latest release) randomly shutting down my PC
C-Beats replied to xardius99's topic in Troubleshooting
Do you have a key bind set to "Shut Down" that may be accidentally being hit? Are you actively interacting with your machine when it shuts down, or are you running attract mode and just notice it shuts down? -
Big Box doesn't have a minimize option.

Since last time you reported this issue you found it to be a USB device being plugged in that caused your issue I'd first go into LaunchBox and Big Box and disable the "Enable All Controllers" option and just use a dedicated controller and try that first. LaunchBox may be polling and waking up a device that is otherwise off and causing issues. If you have any software monitors that apply different profiles to your peripherals based on what software is open (most mouse and keyboard support software does this). I'd shut them off and try as well to make sure opening LaunchBox isn't changing a profile that is causing issues. Typically when you see Windows lag like that it's either your CPU getting locked up or the boot disk having read/write issues. LB could be making these worse by writing to the cache and making your drive have to index things after the fact and negatively impacting performance. This gets even worse if using an SSD over 80% utilization. Also in the future when you close LaunchBox process, make sure to go to the "Details" tab in Task Manager and ensure that all LaunchBox processes HAVE indeed closed. If your machine is lagging AFTER LaunchBox processes are closed you have something NOT LaunchBox related going on with your system. A good place to start is to vet your system files by running Command Prompt AS ADMINISTRATOR and running the following command "/sfc scannow" (without quotes) and seeing if it detects anything. Restart your computer after running it. Also ensure your drivers are all up to date. If you have a Razer mouse ensure you have Synapse running as their mouses are known to cause issues similar to what you're describing if the mouse can't communicate with synapse.

Mini Console Nostalgia - Form over Function (WIP)
C-Beats replied to Saieno's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
I realize this may happen with some systems simply because the box - front images don't ENTIRELY match the UI you are creating (namely 3DS) but you have some platforms where the artwork is cut off quite a bit. I noticed it with 3DS, Sega 32X, and Nintendo Switch. May be possible to adjust those image types to sit in the UI a tad better without cutting off as much of the image. Not trying to discourage you or insult your work, I think what you've gotten done is pretty amazing and is no small feat (poor @faeran STILL has nightmares from his CoverBox days where he too made a unique view per platform lol). You seem eager to learn and take the constructive criticism and I just want to make sure you have the tools and input to make this theme as awesome as your vision is for it. As a work around for some systems where the media type used in the UI doesn't EXACTLY match the front image (like the Nintendo systems that use a square icon instead of the box) Big Box DOES support theme overrides and could be possible for the theme to either be packaged with or use images specific to this theme that would work a bit better for those platforms. I personally would love to get a square image set for my library as there are several solid use cases for them. -
As stated in theme manager, that theme requires version 13.4 or newer to function correctly. You are on 13.3. If you do not wish to upgrade to 13.3 you can download an older version of Big Details from the forums

Mini Console Nostalgia - Form over Function (WIP)
C-Beats replied to Saieno's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
Welcome to the wild world of Big Box theming! Your theme looks pretty awesome! I'd echo what @bundangdon was saying, themes like yours look GREAT when you have the supporting artwork, but tend to fall apart really quickly if you have a platform you haven't made a view for, you're missing artwork, or the artwork in that platform utilizes drastically different artwork between regions (ie SNES). I'd do what you can to mitigate that. Outside of that the only thing I found somewhat "off' was a few of the bezels looked a bit out of place because of the placement of the control elements. For example in the DS image the controls (D-Pad and face buttons) were smushed in really close in the middle leaving a lot of empty space on the left/right. Think it'd look a tad better spaced out. I admit though this is being ridiculously picky though and as I said before overall I can see your theme being enjoyed by many should you choose to publish it. -
Typically these are just added as additional applications

Hey all! I teamed up with @JoeViking245 to make a plugin that would help users share metadata between builds (found here). With what little spare time I have I've been manually going through my game collection platform by platform and adding the following metadata to all my games: Series Genre / Sub-Genre pair (similar to MAME) (All games have a SINGLE pair assigned) Custom Field: Based On (for games that are based on another type of media like a movie or TV series) Custom Field: Franchise I know others in the community have expressed the desire to do something similar and so I figure I'd share mine as a basis for those looking for a good place to start. Please note that I'm actively working on the collection and while the platforms included in the download are "done" there may be some data that could use corrected as my methodologies have evolved over the course of the project. I've attached two files (that I'll keep up to date as I complete a platform). The first is "All_Data" and has all my non-settings data files so you if you wanted to take a look inside of your own build and check out not only the data, but how I structure the platform categories you can. The second is "Platform_Data_Only" and has JUST the platform data files you'd need to use Joe's plugin. This collection has the following platforms done (these are 1G1R sets with the exception of Windows which contains multiple versions if I had them on multiple storefronts): Atari 7800 Atari Jaguar Atari Jaguar CD Atari Lynx Microsoft Xbox NEC TurboGrafx-16 NEC TurboGrafx-CD Nintendo 64 Nintendo Entertainment System Nintendo Game & Watch Nintendo Game Boy Advance Nintendo Game Boy Color Nintendo Game Boy Nintendo GameCube Nintendo Virtual Boy Nintendo Wii U Sega 32X Sega Dreamcast Sega Game Gear Sega Genesis Sega Master System Sega Saturn SNK Neo Geo Pocket Color SNK Neo Geo Pocket Sony Playstation Sony Playstation 2 Super Nintendo Entertainment System Tiger Electronic Handhelds Watara Supervision Windows In the future I plan to add other custom fields, but want to get most of the major platforms done before doing so. I will update the files as I get them done, but don't expect anything too soon as it takes time to hit EVERY game in a platform and I'm down to the BIG libraries so it's going to take a while to get through them. Platform_Data_Only.zip All_Data.zip

Cool sounds like you have a pretty decent plan of attack then.

If you don't have a non-merged MAME set deleting files like you're describing can cause some pretty nasty instability in your collection as you can be possibly deleting a dependency another file needs. If you want to be able to remove ROMs for games/apps you don't want to play you'll want to grab a non-merged set and then do so.

Would like to state that our official support team do not do generic PC support. You've already indicated that your problems in the past have been system issues not related to LaunchBox and well outside what our support can really handle. Feel free to ask on the forums for community help as you have been, but I'm not sure how much everyone will be able to help outside of being able to point you to potential OS settings that may help alleviate your issues.

The answer to this question depends on how you have your installation built. If you have everything in the LB folder you just copy that folder over to the device. What I'd recommend is to copy the entire LB folder to the device, then for any platform that has a broken file path you can select all the games in that platform then use the item in Tools > File Management to change all the rom paths to point to the new folder and it'll update the paths for you. Then you'd want to go to Tools > Manage > Emulators and change any paths that need changed there. If you're feeling brave you could do this all with a find and replace in your data files as well. Your license is good for any number of devices you personally own, so no you will not need another license for your Ally.

Can you provide a link to the LaunchBox Games DB page it's getting linked to now, and a link to the page you think it belongs on?

Forgot my password email isn't coming through
C-Beats replied to ChinaRider's topic in Troubleshooting
Your best bet is to email support@unbrokensoftware.com. No one on the forum will be able to really help you with this issue. -
LaunchBox for Android is a direct download and not available on the Play Store (we were having issues with it in the apps past life and weren't willing to deal with them the 2nd time around). You get the apk file the same way you get the installer for LB for Desktop. Go to the website and request it and we send it to you via email.

At the moment the short answer is you can't. This is noted internally as something we need to get fixed and is on the pile.
