launchbox Launchbox not loading Mednafen Core Config
SentaiBrad replied to Leglock's topic in Troubleshooting
Yea, sometimes things just... don't work, and it might be a small line of code that we would never know, or they would never know! Sometimes things don't have a good explanation for why, or how to solve. Gotta love computers. -
No, "powerful consoles" were not a thing back then. Sure, when the SNES came out people were like "oh this is much better than the NES, I want to play everything here now". That sort of thing was always there, hasn't gone away, but "powerful hardware" and PC culture was not in the console culture at the time. I don't care about the graphics per se, as long as it's an amazing game. Lo and behold, it looks great and it's still a fantastically polished Nintendo game.

Yea, hindsight is 20/20. Actually, more copies of Zelda sold than there are Switch's out in the wild! I would be willing to guess it's selling systems now though because of how different it is. The Switch and Zelda both broke Nintendo's own sales records. They might have even broken some industry records for console and game sales.

launchbox Launchbox not loading Mednafen Core Config
SentaiBrad replied to Leglock's topic in Troubleshooting
Sometimes I've seen this happen, and I have zero reasons why it does this. I've just had to create a new config through the menu's and try to attach it again. Your command line looks to be right, lower case c, with the same set up as the cores command but with config\ instead of cores\. -
Yea, it was closed for a good reason. I don't mind people creating new threads, like this, but I still want to make sure everyone gets the tips from the first post. The software tips Monkus and I made there though will still help that. Keep in mind, if you're opening Big Box and you have a big library, you're opening it right as Windows is still booting, or your PC is under a heavy load, then it will take a bit longer to load up. Mine currently takes about 25 seconds or so, and that's normal.

I'll post this on our Discord to see if anyone knows. I know RetroArch works though, and using the Mupen64Plus core in that is my suggested N64 emulator, it's one of the best ones around.
-
Yea, that's pretty normal. This is all up to EmuMovies, and they have a lot of content on the back end to sift through. They might even have a bunch of music for a platform there, just not available to the public yet. So it's totally normal for an entire platform to have nothing, very little, or be near complete. It just depends on what they have available to the public. If you're a paying Premium member, and you log on to their FTP server, you might be able to get what you want manually, but it has to be manually until they transfer that data to be available via API, then LaunchBox will have access to it. There is also the possibility that they don't have anything yet at all for a specific console too.

I don't think so. I would say to currently assign it to a button that is out of the way. If you'd like to request this feature, then feel free to click Issues/Requests at the top and request this added feature for Big Box. Make sure to vote on your own ticket as well!

There are tons of Video Game Arcades, Really good one in Dallas. We tried to go in October during Retropalooza, but it was closed on Monday's.
-
It should have happened automatically, unless you changed the name of the platform. If the name of the platform changed, then you're gonna have to go in to your Images, Videos, Music, etc folders, and change the name of the old platform to the new platform. An FBA platform should also be scraped as Arcade, but the platform wouldn't be called Arcade, it would be called the non-scrape as platform name.
-
That is for the music that can get downloaded with your games. EmuMovies has a music download section, so when you download media from within LB, if music exists, it will get downloaded. Otherwise, you can put music in like you do images or video. Go to ../LaunchBox/Music/choose a platform/, then put the music in here. It must be named after the rom file name or the name of the game inside of LB, like all other media.

LB = LaunchBox. When you edit RetroArch in LaunchBox, there is the associated platforms tab. That needs to be set up properly with the command line and the name. If you're swapping around Emulators they need to be switched in LaunchBox by using the Bulk Edit Wizard, but if you're just changing RetroArch cores then it gets changed in the Associated Platforms tab.

Well, we don't want to have DRM get in the way. We could do more, but we don't want that to get in the way of everything. It's certainly a fine line. People lose access to accounts just the same. The best course of action, I would say, is upload your license to a private cloud account and mark the e-mail as important or put it in to a save folder in your e-mail client. To tie it to an account, we'd also need to overhaul the account system the way it currently is; There are 3 separate account systems going on as is.

Well, we have two people who handle the support e-mails, @Jason Carr and @Kirsten Marie, but Jason is on Vacation right now , so the wait times might be a bit longer than usual. I'll forward the post to Kirsten though and see if she can't get you squared away!

Yea, the size of a library is going to effect things first and foremost. Your system's hardware is good enough, so I would be leaning more towards software at this point. Have you followed any of the tips on this thread?

Duplicate arcade games in DB due to different platforms.
SentaiBrad replied to teeedubb's topic in Contributions
Merging platforms is already on the docket actually, for almost this primary reason. It applies to a lot of systems actually. With our recent Poll, people REALLY want Jason to work on the Database more, so that's exactly what he's gonna do, and that is chief among the stuff to resolve. This is exactly why the Scrape As function exists as well, so you can call your platforms what ever you want and scrape them as something else. So I just imported my demul set of roms again, but scraped them as arcade. During import, if the platform doesn't exist, then Scrape As pops up. If it does exist, it wont pop up. However, I would just add a space to the end of a platform that does exist, and scrape as pops up. Clicking next also removes the space, so any associated platform stuff gets picked up because that space "goes away", but served the purpose to make Scrape As pop up during import. If your platform is already imported, you can go to Tools -> Manage Platforms, edit a platform, and the scrape as line is in here as well. You can then re-scrape the platform to update the metadata and media. When importing a MAME rom set, there is also already the possibility for you to have LB automatically make playlists, which is what it already does by default for Arcade (it's a check box that you can uncheck). However, this is a duplicate of the original roms, so they'd still be tied to the old platform, they're just being filtered. You could bulk edit while in that Playtlist view, but then you have a platform that has multiple emulators being used. Scrape As has been around for quite some time, but the system merging just hasn't happened yet. I wanted to import my demul roms as their own platform (I used scripts which I uploaded to our download section to pull the roms out from a MAME rom set), so I imported them and scraped them as Arcade, even though some of them have official platforms. I also unchecked the playlist box for these, as I don't want them for Arcade right now, and that doesn't make sense for these special platforms. To bulk edit stuff, you click on a platform, then a game, Ctrl + A, then right click edit a game. You can bulk edit several fields (this is how you switch emulators for a system too). With all your games highlighted in a platform, you can also re-scrape it by going to Tools -> Download Metadata and Media. Choosing the second option will only download stuff that is missing. The first option will replace all of the media and metadata period, so it's like a full update. -
How long ago did you send your e-mail @Echorion?
-
Oh sure, so grab a regular torrent and point it towards the uncompressed set. That sounds about right.
-
Running as Admin could actually cause more issues than it fixes.

Unfortunately, they're one of the sites were talking about that this upgrade wouldn't work on. They provided the downloads as one giant zip, meaning picking and choosing, or updating only whats different is almost impossible.

BigBox Performance and How to Make it Better
SentaiBrad replied to Lordmonkus's topic in Troubleshooting
Having 20 versions of Donkey Kong is what is contributing to that (well, not just 20 instances of Donkey Kong, but many instances of a lot of games). Remember, every time an image or video needs to be displayed, it's slowing things down incrementally. I wont comment on not needing that many, but I can almost promise you that reducing your library will make things much much better. You can Ctrl Click on several games and manually combine them if you want, but LaunchBox does this automatically now during import. If games have the same exact name during import, they'll be combined and the alternate versions (or multiple discs) will be put under the right click menu for that game. I have just as many systems (if not more actually), and 32k games. I also removed Genre's I didn't care about, like sports. My performance is "worse" technically speaking, than a fresh install or an install with a few k games, but after you hit 10k there is a drop down in performance. We're talking about a massive amount of data that is being loaded here. -
I can promise you progress is being made. There is no ETA, it's still an effort between the two, the responsibility isn't on just one of them, so it's taking both of their efforts which by default means it will take longer because correspondence is needed. Both needed to also get up to speed with the systems already in play. It will be worth it though, I promise.

Those are Clear Logo's. So the same place you went to in LaunchBox was fine, editing the platforms, you were just in the wrong category. They're also located at ../LaunchBox/Images/Platforms/_platform_/Clear Logo/. I've had better luck replacing them from the UI in LB though.
