Issue with BigBox options screen going black...
DOS76 replied to EazyCheeze1978's topic in Troubleshooting
It won't revert but it will stop getting betas after that -
My normal library and big box are both super laggy and stutter

Ah not hard but a little more complicated LB has no native feature to change ROM paths so you have to use Notepadd++ and open your XML files located in Data>Platforms from the LB root folder use the find and replace method to find your old path and then use replace to change them all in bulk you will have to do it individually for each platform well that probably isn't true but it would take more complex directions to describe it. -

Yeah you will have to go to manage emulators and switch the path now that you moved the emulators from their specified location -

You could try the beta and see if that fixes it. You can turn them on in Tools>Options -

Yeah it is currently the biggest issue but its hard to track down because it is randomly happening to people who's system should work fine with the program -
Yes videos are only supported in the premium version

Importing MAME into LB? I just use the default settings on the MAME setup form.

This sounds like a bug that I don't think I've seen reported before so what version of the program are you using? Also if you need to close the program just hit X on the keyboard -
I have some experience with running LB using network locations for various ROM files and such but not really what you are talking about If you use Steam you can use in home streaming to play BigBox on all you computers from the host as long as your controls support xinput so that may be an issue with the arcade setup. You could also direct LB to a video folder on a network location but I don't know if there would be any performance issues as I've never tested that to change where a platform looks for its videos go into Tools>Manage Platforms double click the platform you want to edit and when the new form opens up go to the folders tab and there you can change the paths unfortunately you will have to change all the paths individually per platform as there is no way to change where LB looks for the root video folder

I have 2 Samsung TV's both going strong after and 8 and 6 years so I've had nothing but good experiences with them and yeah TV repair is basically non existent anymore as its cheaper to get a new set. If you want to really hardcore research models I'm sure you can find info on input lag and gaming performance from some source but I don't know really and when I bought these TV's I didn't know any of this stuff I only discovered the game mode thing because my input lag was so bad I had to research a solution. I don't see how rotating the TV would cause it any damage as long as your cables aren't pulling in weird way that could maybe damage the port.

Your old lying around computer isn't really that old and is still a very decent machine what you are describing is very doable I have my computers all connected to TV's and they are awesome for emulation as for what specific HDTV you should get a prefer Samsung myself but have a few Sony's around here that work great also one caveat of the Samsungs are that some models need to be put into game mode or the input lag will be unbearable

Non merged sets are the most disk intensive sets as the parent are included inside of the clones too, the split set has the clones separate from the parent in their own archive and the merged set combines the parents and the clones so even if a game has 12 clones all the needed files for them are inside the parent. Merged sets can be imported to LB rather easily it is just unkown how to launch any of the clones games from LB if you use a merged set Split sets are the middle of the road they take up less space than a non-merged set but more than a merged set they are also the most flexible to use inside of LB. Non-Merged are just ridiculous in my opinion why would you want to have all of that redundant data taking up HDD space.

Do you mean while playing the game itself that would have to be something that MAME did LB is only launching the game it isn't in any way interacting with the emulator.

try updating your direct X version here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 -
Now all we need is someone to write a scrapper to ComicVine's API that works with LB

In my experience its possible to launch anything imaginable from LaunchBox so I don't think it will be an issue.
-
All of those are good features honestly but Android is a huge platform and would give a whole new user community access to LaunchBox. I think business wise its a strong move

Its an awesome video but BigBox doesn't start for me in 8 seconds I need a longer video. It looks amazing though.

Hey @Wayne100 let me see if I can answer most of your questions here Yes many of the users here are using arcade controls whether they be seen as keyboard input or gamepad Yes having two controls shouldn't be an issue and if you have any issues I'm sure someone here will be able to get you sorted. Yes you will be able to assign coin and player buttons through your emulators LB really won't be controlling that aspect of it. It can be configured to launch at start by placing a shortcut in the start menu or more advanced botting the PC and using BigBox as the shell instead of Explorer. In the BigBox options menu their is optoin to shut the computer down. BigBox has an attract mode feature built into it already Hope this helps you make your decision.

It only seems to be this PC which is on the Insider Preview Fast Ring

So wait does opening a game in LB now hide the taskbar as well as BigBox that is what I'm seeing and then LB is stealing focus from the game every time. Also when I close the game and the task bar returns I have to minimize LB before I can access anything from the taskbar the little preview view pops up but clicking on it won't take you to that window. It seems like LB is in an always on top mode as soon as it is minimized the taskbar goes back to normal but while in focus it won't change. I'm on Windows 10 but the latest insider preview version.
-
In LB itself you rate the games by filling in the stars. I'm unsure where the rating in the cloud part comes from I do know that is a very little used feature that hasn't been worked on in awhile.

Sorry my arcade cab is using different hardware encoders. Both controllers have their own USB hookup and are seen as separate Gamepads and a not a single keyboard so I can't be of any assistance with that. Hopefully someone else who has a cab with similar joystick setups can help you out.
