Maybe. Is there a Doom shortcut already in your Launchbox ?

When I did it I chose roms (not ms-dos) and I left my short cut files where they were like I always do with my roms.

Feature Specific Tutorials! I need help from the community!
Lordmonkus replied to SentaiBrad's topic in News and Updates
Well you don't need Rocket Launcher to do core specific or even game specific configs in Retroarch but I do understand your want to use RL for the clean loading and exiting. I don't use RL myself however so I cannot make a tutorial on it. If I did use it I would be happy to make one. -
Hmm maybe, I didn't import my Steam stuff at all.

Ok, so the Import Windows Games is hit and miss. The way I described above will work, it's just a bit of a pain with the extra step of uncheck the use emulator box for each and every game. But I did it last night for 46 games
-
Yup, just add an emulator but point it to your movie player of choice and assign a platform. Import your movie file, assign it to the platform you have you movie player "emulator" set to. Like DOS76 said though, you will need to get the metadata and art yourself since there is no scraper for it. Maybe Jason some day can add imbd and thetvdb scraping.
-
Yeah. But on import you will have to set an emulator to that platform in the import wizard. Just pick a random emulator, it doesn't matter which one. Then once they are all imported you will need to right click each game one at a time and edit them, go to the emulator tab and uncheck the box for use an emulator to play this game. That's the pain in the ass part. I didn't do the Import Windows Games method, so let me know how that turns out for you.

Thats what i was thinking.

The controller part of it is very interesting especially if it brings touch support which from what i hear doesnt work using other methods. I keep hearing how good the DS4 controllers d-pad is, i need to get my hands on one to try it out. The DS3 one is awful. If the touchpad does work I wonder if you can configure it for Nintendo DS emulation use.

Blizzard games can be run bypassing the launcher, if you look inside the games folder you will find the exe for the game. Now of course you will need to be logged into battle.net already to play their games unless you are using a copy of their games that do not require a login like playing WoW on a private server for example. I think the same applies to Origin but I do not know since I so not give EA money for their trash. Adding PC games is sort an annoying process right now but last night I finally added my PC games to Launchbox and the way I did it was to just drag in the games shortcut files (I keep all my games shortcuts sorted in a games folder for my Windows Start menu). I put them under the Windows platform but I had to assign an emulator on the import and this is where it gets annoying. Once all the games are imported you them need to go into the Windows platform and for each game you need to "uncheck" the "use an emulator" box in the Emulation tab of the edit box. This really needs a bulk edit option or a way to not have to set an emulator in the import. If someone knows of a better way to do this then please post it here.

Mupen64plus Setup Tutorial (Launchbox Compatible)
Lordmonkus replied to Lordmonkus's topic in Emulation
They are in similar states, it just depends on the games you actually play. Some games play very well and others show the flaws horribly. -
Mupen64plus Setup Tutorial (Launchbox Compatible)
Lordmonkus replied to Lordmonkus's topic in Emulation
I think the reasoning is the hardware needed to emulate it properly. Other systems of the same era have similar emulation issues. Dreamcast and Playstation 2 are far from what I personally would call a "good" state. They are in "ok" states in that some games play extremely well while others have major problems and the emulators themselves are very "hacky". Right now the only N64 emulators that look like they could have some potential to get to a "good" state is Cen64 and the Vulkan powered Retroarch core paraLLel which is based on Mupen but is going to be very different. Because Cen64 and paraLLel take a more low level emulation approach they have more room to grow as time goes on. -
Should be doable. Easiest way is to make one folder called Launchbox for example and install all your emulators and roms in sub folders. Then configure all your stuff so all the paths are all in the same place once moved over. Folder structure would look something like this: Drive Letter -Launchbox -emulators -emulator 1 -emulator 2 -roms -roms 1 -roms 2 I hope this makes some sense. Basically you are keep everything contained in one main folder in sub folders so that all the paths remain relative to each other and not hard set paths.

I just hope it let's me directly store and play my digital PS3 games on the PC and not some shit remote play. If it's local stream off my PS3 over my home network that could be acceptable too. But I have a bad feeling it's going to be remote streaming. Hey Sony how about you beat the RPCS3 guys to the punch and release your own PS3 emulator for the PC and charge 20-30$ for it ?

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/08/23/playstation-now-coming-to-pc-dualshock-4-usb-wireless-adaptor-unveiled/ This could be really interesting. If this allows me to play my digital PS3 games on my PC that would be awesome. Also that USB adapter that will allow you to unlock all the DS4 controller features will be really nice.

Mednafen 0.9.39.1 released. A relatively minor release. Among other changes, fixes problems with the following Sega Saturn games: "Astal", "Hi-Octane", "Panzer Dragoon", and "Panzer Dragoon 2". http://mednafen.fobby.net/

Yeah so far from my quick testing i'm not seeing any differences but then again I haven't tested much and everything I had before seemed to work just fine and what I have isn't a big collection to test. So I am sure someone will find something.

That's what I thought. I'm trying to actually get this new version to work and so far no luck getting it to load a cdi image. Not sure if it's just me since it has been a while since I actually setup Demul or if it's something else. Edit: Got it working now, it was just me forgetting how to do it right. Edit #2: Looks like old Atomiswave bios and roms do not work with this new emulator, need newer dumps. Edit #3: Nevermind about the bios and roms, im a tard and had to relearn how to set this all up for Dreamcast and Atomiswave stuff.

MAME / RetroArch: Set different shader for vertical games
Lordmonkus replied to 8Phantasm's topic in Emulation
You need to generate a config file with the shader settings you want. The best way I can think of to do this is to have Retroarch set up with per-core settings on, load up retroarch with the mame core and a game and exit out. It should have generated config file in the retroarch/config folder, probably named "mame_libretro.dll.cfg". Rename this file to something like "mame_vertical.cfg". Now in Launchbox add the command switch -c "config/mame_vertical.cfg". This may or may not be the exact way to do it, I am just telling you off the top of my head. I don't actually use any custom configs myself but I do know they can be done. Another possible option is in Retroarch > Configuration turn on the per-game core option. This should allow you to set a different shader on a game to game basis. Also this method is not available to all cores. Keep in mind that I have not actually done anything like this because it is such an insane amount of work to do it for each and every game. That is why I suggested MameUI with setting lottes crt shaders using the vertical and horizontal filters for bulk setting or HLSL. Brad has done videos showing how to load custom configs. -
Well I am glad you got it all working the way you wanted to and may come in handy for someone who wants to to do it the same way. Too bad it's such a load of work to set up all the additional apps if you have more than a couple of games. Mednafen and soon Retroarch have pretty much rendered this emulator all but obsolete now.
-
I don't think your aspect ratio matters unless you are stretching games to wide screen. I run all my games in the correct aspect ratio and the shaders look great. Actual resolution matters more than aspect, higher resolution with higher pixels per square inch make crt shaders look much better. The on board Intel graphics is unfortunately really weak and and not going to be able to handle most shaders and most definitely not the GTU or the heavier CRT stuff. If you want to try out something like the CRT-Hyllian-Fast or the CRT-Pi in the GLSL > CRT folder you may have some luck. While emulation speed itself is CPU dependant, shaders put the load on the GPU. To squeeze out some extra performance you can try turning on Threaded GPU in the video settings but don't expect too much. It's used to just get over the hump when needed. Like for example for me and Saturn emulation if I had CRT-Royale-Kurozumi is slowed me down to about 50 frames per second. With Threaded Video it put me back up to 60 but I also have a GTX 970 graphics card.

Austins videos are very good to watch but I would probably start with Brads tutorial videos first.

For most people emulating the NES through Retroarch using either the Nestopia or FCEUX cores is plenty good and is by no means a terrible way to emulate the NES. But for anyone looking for better emulation I would like to recommend the emulator PuNES. This emulation has a 96.2% accuracy according to TASVideos testing http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/NESAccuracyTests.html This emulator is pretty freaking awesome. After playing around with it for a while I like it a lot. It supports Retroarchs CG shaders, though not every single shader preset will work but crt-hyllian does and that is a very good shader. It also supports the Famicom Disk System and you can bind controller buttons to eject and flip disks like in Retroarch. You will need the DISKSYS.ROM file in the emulator directory for FDS support of course. Anyways, just wanted to make this emulator known for people who maybe do not know about this fine piece of work. Link for the emulator: http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6928 Edit: And before anyone jumps in with Nestopia and FCEUX being perfect. No NES emulator is perfect at the moment and it is not due to lack of cpu power or effort. It is because there are literally hundreds of custom mapper chips that came inside the cartridges and they all need to emulated individually. No emulator right now emulates 100% of them but PuNES and Mesen are the two closest.
