PS3 works just fine from Launchbox, you need to import the eboot files. PS3 (Eboot.bin) bulk importer - Third-Party Applications and Plugins (Development and Beta Testing) - LaunchBox Community Forums (launchbox-app.com)

Two Platforms using the same core with differen settings (RetroArch)
neil9000 replied to Friedi1987's topic in Noobs
It does apply, i have different settings for Gameboy than i do for GameBoy Colour for example. As i use different options for each, such as ghosting on the GameBoy and not on the Colour, and different colour pallets depending on GB or GBC. Simply saved as Content Directory Overrides. -
No, it's all or none currently.

Issue logging into Epic via Google Account
neil9000 replied to Buddy Dacote's topic in Troubleshooting
Yeah i have never seen that screen, this is all i get. Ill tag one of the devs here to see if he has any idea as to what is going on. @C-Beats -
OK that is the issue, although Retroarch can absolutely be used, it cant be specified at import for a MAME fullset. Launchbox generates a file from the mame.exe in order to get a list of working roms to import, (so that you dont have 6800 games imported of which only about 2800 of actually work in mame). Once the import has been run you can then switch to any emulator you would like to use. So the error was due to the emulator specified and nothing else, if you do in fact have a fullset, then import that against the matching version of the mame emulator, and switch the emulator to Retroarch after the import.

Launchbox crashes while starting. Bigbox working fine!
neil9000 replied to FulgoreDE's topic in Troubleshooting
Are you running any antivirus like Norton? If so have you checked to see if it has deleted any Launchbox files? -
If you only have a few roms you shouldnt use the fullset importer, that is for a fullset which is more like 3000 roms, you should use the standard rom importer but check the box in the import wizard to use mame metadata. Also are you using the standard MAME standalone emulator, as i think that error is because you are not?

You have had three different moderators in here tonight, all telling you exactly the same thing. Have you ever stopped to wonder if its you with the problem here and not us? I first commented when you posted because you were accusing a database submitter of being a troll, and i said that that didnt seem like trolling to me, and i would of approved the image in question as well. Since then you have continued to argue with everybody who has commented, you just cant seem to stop arguing and telling us that your own opinion is the exact correct one and should be followed while everybody else's opinion is irrelevant as it is contrary to your own. Please, lets just drop this pointless discussion.

Constructive criticism, and disagreeing with somebody on a topic is NOT rudeness.
-
No, what is being said is if you think that you are being singled out by a troll on the database that you need to provide evidence of it. Just because you get rejections on your submissions doesnt mean you are being targeted, it just means that someone doesnt think the image you submitted is suitable. How is that any different at all to you coming into this thread with the MK image and singling out that submitter and calling them a troll, because they believe this particular image is fine. You can not complain that you are being singled out by a database moderator, and then turn round and single out a database submitter, that is the very definition of a hypocrite. Provide some proof, or please forget about it and move on.
-
No, it just means that moderator thought it was a suitable fanart image for that game, as do i.
-
He didnt submit it, someone else did and he wants to reject it. I disagree personally.

Seems like a generic Mortal Kombat logo to me, that could be used on any Mortal Kombat game at all. I dont see any reason why that would have to be used on Mortal Kombat 9, and 9 only.

LaunchBox won't show "Box Art" unless I switch it to "Steam Poster"
neil9000 replied to AgentCat12's topic in Troubleshooting
Ha ha, yup that would do it, glad you figured it out. -
That is highly debateable, any antivirus that deletes perfectly legitimate files, like is has here, is not worth a penny, let alone what it actually does cost. Norton is a bad product, as this case proves. The Windows defender that comes with Windows is a far better product, and free. Im glad you figured it out in the end though, and that everything is working as it should now, but any hate as to why this happened should be aimed squarely at Symantec as their product is deleting perfectly fine files for seemingly no reason, as i can assure you Launchbox is 100% virus free, the company wouldnt go far if it was selling a product thats gives every user a virus.

LaunchBox won't show "Box Art" unless I switch it to "Steam Poster"
neil9000 replied to AgentCat12's topic in Troubleshooting
I assume this is in your actual Steam platform? If so check your box front priorities in Launchbox and maybe move Steam Posters further down the preference list. -
OK, a couple of points here, 11.9 is just fine for the vast majority of people, i myself am using it just fine on my system and have had zero issue with it, so the issues may be specific to your PC, so would require some troubleshooting on your end, first guess is bad antivirus removing files after the first launch. Secondly, there has been zero reason for you to re-import everything, Launchbox is a portable app and everything can just be copy/pasted from a old install to a new one. Maybe you should of come to the forums for help before you started messing with things and deleting things, you have only caused more work for yourself in doing so. So, with that said. Can yo please provide OS version as well as your PC specs, and let us no if you are using any antivirus software, and have you checked said software to see if it has removed/quarantined any Launchbox files. And secondly do you have logging turned on in Launchbox, if so please provide said log, and finally you could also check Windows error reporting itself after trying to load Launchbox, and see if you find any error logs there as well.

What people have been asking you to confirm is whether your Associated Platform name actually matches the name you gave the platform in Launchbox, like this. Platform is called Nintendo 64, so the associated platform has to be called Nintendo 64 as well. This sounds like your issue from the start if you were scraping Atomiswave as Naomi, then you of course had a mismatch in the names, the associated platform was for Atomiswave, but you named the platform in Launchbox, Naomi. This is the question people have been asking you to answer for two days, and would of been a quick and easy fix had you answered that question the first time it was asked.

You would have to add code to whatever theme you are using. Themes though as a rule dont show box art as the background, as that wont look very good a lot of the time. Id check your image priorities for backgrounds in Launchbox and make sure you dont have boxes at the top of that list, and therefore showing those before actual backgrounds.
-
It means to use the actual emulator of the same name, and not the retroarch core for it.

Interesting, i cant say i have ever heard of that romset. The most popular and what we also recommend around here is the No-Intro romsets. They are clean dumps with no bad dumps, or hacks and the like, and our database is based on there naming scheme.
-
Launchbox will have no idea there are two seperate platforms in a folder, it will just ask you for one platform in the wizard, i cant say i have ever seen GameBoy roms come that way either, thats bad organisation. You have two options, keep them all together and name the platform appropriately, or seperate the games out manually into two different folders.

We dont have restrictions on resolution of images, at the end of the day a low resolution image is usually for most people, better than no image at all. So why reject images that many many users will get use out of? As for all box art being uniform sizes, are you willing to go through every image in every platform and replace them with lovely new high resolution images that all fit to a standard? If so then please, have at it. I am going to assume though, that you are not going to do that, and actually want the people who upload the art to do it for you and to retroactively go back and edit all images, cause i can tell you now, know one is going to do that. At the end of the day would a uniform size for specific platforms be a good idea? Yes. Is anyone willing to actually do all that work? Id hazard a guess at a hard no.

Weird, what browser are you using? I log into Epic through Launchbox via the Google option also, and i have no issues with it. I am using the newest Edge browser that is based off of Chrome, you?
