Is there a way to disable the "related games" feature?
faeran replied to kalkito9's topic in Troubleshooting
Removing it from the Games Details section in LaunchBox would require a custom theme made with those parts removed. I'd only recommend a user do this if trying to visually customize their game view to their liking, as it doesn't provide any performance gain by doing so. -
The metadata file is normally updated to reflect changes in the database every 24-48 hours. However, looks like we just needed to give the database a bit of a nudge. You should see it update within the next 24 hours

In LaunchBox you have full control over how you want Platform Categories to display your platforms, playlists, and categories. That section is designed to be fully modular, and the changes you make in LaunchBox will then get reflected in Big Box. Based on what you are saying, it sounds like you want to delete all categories except for the Arcade category. So in LaunchBox, you could delete the Handhelds category (for example) and its contents would then move to the root of that section. You also have the ability to Edit a platform, go to its Parents tab, and select where you want that platform to show up in your hierarchy. Once you have everything set up the way you like, switch over to Big Box and you'll notice that your Platform Categories section is now updated to reflect your changes.

Not sure why that would be happening. The auto-generated playlists don't get populated with games, but instead a list of rules get set up and any game that matches them will get added to the playlist. For example the Capcom Classics playlist will add games where the Platform is equal to Arcade, and the Publisher contains the word Capcom. You can right click any playlist to see what their auto-populate rules are, and which games found a match. You must first fully close LaunchBox, including making sure it's finished it's closing process by making sure it's not running in task manager. Then you can delete the playlist files without having them return.

You should be able to. Are you able to provide screenshots of your options menu, and what you are seeing?
-
Are you asking why you have to do it, or that you tried i and it didn't work? You essentially need to do: [rom folder]\raycris\raycris.chd
-
Probably the simplest way would be to put it inside of a folder that is named after the rom file, and place that folder in the same place as your MAME rom files.

Launchbox Theme Default plus
faeran replied to Partiesplayin's topic in LaunchBox for Windows Custom Themes
I haven't looked at the code in a while, but it should be somewhere in the SideBarView.xaml file. -
ah, I see. Then, yes, that website is also stating that it requires a CHD file to work.

Assuming all games are running fine in RetroArch, are you able to provide the following screenshots: location of ROMs on hard drive Location of RetroArch emulator on hard drive RetroArch emulator entry in LaunchBox (both the Details and Associated Platforms sections) The Launching and Emulation sections of each of your problematic games (found in the Edit game window)
-
A quick search shows that Ray Crisis requires an extra CHD file to run, and Castle Shikigami (I'm assuming you mean The Castle of Shikigami II) cannot run in MAME yet (It does say it's a Sega Naomi game, so I can only assume it would run inside of something like flycast). This is a good online resource for Arcade games that explains what state certain games are at inside of MAME: http://adb.arcadeitalia.net/

My guess is that you can add it as a user source in the CTC, but the CTC won't know what to do with it and probably provide an error. There should be a checkbox that allows you to stop it from trying to render that element in the CTC. When you publish the theme, you'll see the 3D Model in Big Box. The only way you would be able to see this Model in the CTC is when the 3D Model is added as a native element within the CTC.

yeah, it's a camera perspective thing. I could probably have another crack at adjusting the camera settings, but that probably won't be for a while. Since this is a custom theme, you will have to dive into the XAML view files in order to remove the parts of the theme you do not want to see.

First thing to understand is that a theme can't control this, so it would be a user setting that is determining this for you. In LaunchBox, edit the platform and go into 3D Model Settings to see if you have the override default settings turned on. Here, you can get a preview of how your boxes are going to look, which will determine how they show up in this theme.

Are you able to show some screenshots of what you are doing?

Which badge were you thinking should appear?

Sounds like you may have accidentally told LaunchBox to use the 2048 core for those platforms. You can confirm this by going into Tools > Manage > Emulators, then opening the RetroArch entry and enter into the Associated Platforms section. Find those platforms and see what Core it's associated with. Change the core to one that works for those platforms. It's worth knowing how to look through the libretro docs for all sorts of information about cores and bios files for RetroArch: https://docs.libretro.com/library/bios/ It does look like Intellivision also requires some bios files, based on their docs.

Beta 2 is out with the following changes: New Premium Feature: Big Box's keyboard automation can now be used without a Hold key (which enables using a single dedicated key for keyboard automation operations) New Premium Feature: A new option to automatically use Big Box as the Windows Shell has been added to Options > General in Big Box. This option will allow you to avoid loading Windows features like the Start menu, taskbar, etc. and will use Big Box exclusively as the shell. This feature is not for the faint of heart, but does result in a faster and cleaner startup for arcade cabinets and home theater environments. Improvement: Big Box's volume bindings will now work to change the system volume when the Windows shell is changed (such as when launching Big Box directly on Windows startup instead of Explorer.exe) Improvement: Added setting to stop 3D models from being used in Game Details Improvement: Added setting to stop 3D models from being used in CoverFlow views

I think the first thing you should check is whether you have Box - Front images for those games and not 3D Box Images (which won't work in the model). Also, make sure your Box Front Image Priorities in LaunchBox Options is set up correctly to use your Box Front image types. You can also refresh the Big Box image cache to see if that helps as well. Thanks for the suggestion. I probably wont have time to circle back to this theme for a while, but I've noted it down. This theme currently can't be created in the current version the CTC, but I think when 2.5 comes out you probably could do most of what's being done here. Making edits to the theme's code is an option here for anyone feeling adventurous.

How do I show the arcade groups/playlists in Big Box?
faeran replied to Hamburglin's topic in Features
Yes, within Platform Categories section in LaunchBox, right click your Arcade Platform and use one of the playlist auto-generator options: -

faeran replied to Hamburglin's topic in Features
Kind of. Really depends on what your end goal is. If your only end goal is to build a section in Big Box that has the platforms, categories, playlists you want to see, in any hierarchical structure you want to see, then that's what Platform Categories is for. Once you create it in LaunchBox, you would use the Platform Categories section in Big Box to see it. -

If you want complete control in what you are seeing, whether it be playlists, platforms, or categories, that's what the Platform Categories section is for. It's essentially a way for you to have full control of the building blocks, and you can place whatever you what, wherever you want, and all of that gets reflected in Big Box. -
That error message indicates that you have pointed to a folder that does not contain a full MAME Romset. Since the wizard is only designed to work with a full set, it will not continue. If you only want to import some MAME ROMs, you should be using the ROM Import wizard. And yes, MAME ROMs are designed to only work if not unzipped.
-
Also worth mentioning that if using the MAME Arcade Full Set import wizard, you'll have an option for LaunchBox to create a Vertical game playlist during import.
