  1. see this post: You cannot call the ROM zip files directly in Launchbox (or any front end) if using the Daphne emulator. In order for Daphne to launch a game it needs to know the framefile and the video disc (VLDP) location as well as other launch options. If all is setup correctly with name and path, Daphne will pull the correct ROM name. The above thread gives example of how Dragon's Lair is setup. There are a variety of ways to go about issuing the command line which is why it can be confusing. But in the end Daphne needs a specific set of commands either through a batch file or some other method and people just go about it slightly differently. Additionally, your paths and naming have to be consistent with your Framefiles, rom names, and VLDP or things won't launch. There is also this longer thread as well: Lastly, you can setup Daphne as its own Platform separate from "Arcade" but you still to set it for scraping from "Arcade" for the LB database since ultimately it is an arcade game.
  2. An excellent resource, for links to various tables across the big pinball sites is this Google sheet linked below. I encountered this when some of my set had been modified like you noted (DMD moved, BG removed) and got tired of fixing them. So I reverted to the original table and in some cases the benefit was the was newer version with bug fixes/graphics enhancements. The spreadsheet also has links to backglass images for a two monitor setup, media packs, and other needed parts and pieces for the tables. The spreadsheet can take a bit of time initially to load and can appear "frozen" when first move around but once caches it works well. They do good job of keeping it updated with new table versions for Visual Pinball, so allows you to do a quick scan of newer tables (in green) to see if any interest you. There is also a VPX only tab which I found useful since that is what I focus on in my setup. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18edFWq2--Yw8iRX_ou3cGeQ3pAJ6zM0kWHYFWZW1fWg/edit#gid=1238562238
  3. Just check the "allow duplicates" during import.
  4. Here is an edge case but has a negative outcome (media is deleted without warning) -Beta 4. I actually encountered it on Beta 3 as well, but at the time thought it was "user error" on my end. 1) Open up the file folder to a media location for game platform, say Clear Logo or Screenshot-Game Title. 2) Open up LB Edit Game window for a game. 3) Copy paste/drag a new image file associated with that game (and which is properly named for that game for LB to incorporate) into appropriate LB Image folder. When you close the edit window LB will delete the image from the folder. The easiest way to test is to CTRL X the image onto desktop from a LB image folder. Then open Edit Game , then CTRL V back into image folder while Edit Game is open still. When close Edit Game it will delete from whatever folder the media was added. 4) It only does it for new media that would be normally associated with the game (i.e., would pick it up through F5) and only if you happen to be on that game at the time you move the image file into the folder. When tested, there were no duplicate images for game so not issue of LB cleaning up a duplicate. 5) If you don't have the edit window open and drag the media into the folder, no issues. After a F5 refresh, LB normally incorporates as expected. I tried it both with image that LB named and with ROM name and it deletes it each time if image media is newly associated. Unfortunately, it is a permanent delete and doesn't go to recycle. 6) I also tried #3 above on a test video and it will also delete the videos as well. Not a typical set of events most would get into, but was definitely a "I know I moved it there where did it go?" things.
  5. A minor glitch that was in earlier Betas and also on Beta 4 (meant to get in earlier). In additional applications window if you make an edit to the Name in Edit Application and close the Edit Application window the Name field in the Additional Apps window is not updated. If you reopen the Edit Application window it will show the change in Application Name field it just doesn't reflect in the Name field. If you completely close out of the entire Edit window and reopen it, the change will show in the Name Field and Application Name as was changed (i.e., change sticks, just not reflecting immediately in Name field). 2. Noted on Beta 2 and behavior on Beta 4. In the edit window launch tab where path to rom/file is located, the prior behavior was if you hit "Browse" button for an existing ROM, it started inside the folder where the ROM is located for selection (or used to be if ROM name changed but folder path was the same). Now it starts in whatever the last path was used immediately prior to hitting browse button (i.e., if edited another game/platform it starts there). So in the example below which is valid path for "Star Wars" the browse button starts in the "Sultan" rom path since it was the last path I manually browsed to prior rather than the Star Wars directory.
  6. On Beta 2: A couple of minor observations on the edit window revamp: 1) noticed in edit window media tab you can no longer drag and drop media into the add media window as in prior versions. Not sure if that is expected behavior with new interface. It also doesn't "blow up" the window like prior if click on media images that are larger resolution. 2) in the edit window launch tab where path to rom/file is located, the prior behavior was if you hit "Browse" button for an existing ROM, it started inside the folder where the ROM is located for selection (or used to be if ROM name changed but folder path was the same). Now it starts in whatever the last path was used immediately prior to hitting browse button (i.e., if edited another game/platform it starts there). 3) Edit window seems to lag a bit when making apply changes or exiting out of edit window. Not a huge deal (a couple seconds maybe), just observation versus older window. Played with the OBS a bit and got it working with test video linking back to game in LB. Never used OBS prior, so a bit of learning curve for me.
  7. @Mikee580 You can find a variety of clear logo packs in the downloads, platform, platform logos section of this site. Also themes have logos in their media packs, for example Unified Refried is has comprehensive logo pack with majority of major platforms in just logo format. So in the themes download section they will link to their media packs. The quickest, if just need a few logos is Google Images search. If you use the platform name with "png logo" will almost always get you what looking for. Adding "Launchbox" to search string is also quick way to find on this site and typically the method I use since it shows preview of image so you can decide if that is style wanted.
  8. +1 for the ability to select or exclude platforms from Clean Media scan. With the new deeper analysis feature and time needed to do that, it would be even more useful to target specific platform(s). For example, on my Mame and pinball platform media, I don’t want it to mess with those for various reasons.
  9. It is a known issue with Daphne core and Windows with no sound. There is no fix unless core developer addresses.
  10. You can set a default image if there is no image present. That is done through the edit platform and right click on the images. So if you didn't have a 3D Box you could set a specific platform box to show in that case. However, if there is an image or multiple images of same "type" already for that game then there is no real way to tell LB to "always pick that one". It would be cool, particularly for cases where you want to keep region media but want to display one specific one. As it stands, LB tends to pick the last one loaded and most times it tends to stick, but as you found it will alternate to the other image at times (particularly if refresh or do download action). Basically, LB is treating those images no different than say if there were multiple screenshots. It picks one and displays it since all equal. The only way I know to get the image you want is to delete all the others in that "type". You can also move the image to a "placeholder" category in LB. I tend to use the "Fanart - Cart - Back" type for this since I don't use that for anything and rarely is anything ever downloaded for it. But it does allow you to keep it and retag it if change mind later.
  11. @retroarcadium You might double check that for your user group assigned that they execute permission checked. Sounds like there is read/write but the execute bit is not set. Go to File Station, Properties. File Properties, Permission, Advanced Options, Permission Inspector for the folder you want to check and then select the user group and it will show you if checked like below. Also, under File Station see if the Privilege column has the "X" bit set and what group is assigned.
  12. Agree, it would be cool (I have all the pinball flavors in my LB setup), but pinball is a bit of challenge in that space. It would be a different process and code to read Future Pinball hiscores versus MAME. Future Pinball stores high scores in the fpRAM file for each table. Visual Pinball has more similar structure to MAME in it stores high scores (among other settings) in nvram files similar to MAME. The older pinball frontend called VP-MAN (like you mentioned in your post) was able to retrieve high scores from both VP and FP but hasn't been updated in quite some time. I saw a few tools/plugins for HyperPin also that did something similar. Not sure if PinballX does or not (will have to fire it up and see). So likely not so much a "can it be done" but if there is enough priority among all the other features for LB team to spend time and effort do it. Pinball as a whole has been typically lower priority because it isn't as high on past community feature polls. The other headache and likely bigger struggle then the coding of getting the high scores is that pinball versus MAME is all over the map as far as naming conventions for tables. It is one of the reasons media is such a headache (and why LB database is limited for PB media). So it would be tough to do any sort of public leader board feature with FP and VP. Am I playing "Jaws" , Jaws Ultimate", "Jaws Ultimate Pro", "Jaws Ultimate Pro with PinUp Mods", or some other multitude of Mods that people do. In case of FP, that can mean older table is using different physics and harder/easier than newer/different table plus in the end I can name my table whatever I want. Popular table themes are under constant revision by folks, with MODs, tweaks, and graphic/physics updates. Visual Pinball does use unique ROM naming convention for tables using PinMAME ROMs, and the nvram structure is similar as well. Even then, there are VP tables that don't use PinMame roms (i.e., UltraDMD) and/or they are using the same PinMAME ROM for a remake (Attack and Revenge from Mars is good example). So again, back to how to uniquely identify the table you are playing versus another if doing leaderboards. The better bet would likely adding it for some commercial product like Pinball FX3 who would have locked/static table naming convention. But then Pinball FX3 already has public leader boards, so could argue why needed in LB (plus they struggle with folks cheating and that is their primary product). Anyway, for a LB feature, it would be something to suggest for future polls and see what others would think. Otherwise, a LB plugin would be alternative, but would need someone who had the time, skill and desire to make one.
  13. No bulk move feature that I am aware of at this point.
  14. Did you refresh the data/images after moving? Go to LB Menu Tools, Refresh Images. Or if just want to test on one platform first, go to a platform and select all games and hit F5. Everything in LB is typically relative to your LB install but if you hard mapped some things (for example ROMs) you may have to update those entries. Go to Edit Platform and Folders tab to double check. If looks like below where no Drive letter than it is relative to the LB install drive.
  15. @witherzombie222 Here are the rest except for "picasa", not sure what game console /system you are referring to. Only Picasa I am aware of is the photo manager. So you will need to provide logo so know what it is you want.
  16. @witherzombie222 Dragon57 already created a couple of these in this thread:
  17. Glad you got it sorted. I have noticed some sites (annoyingly) don't seem to tell/indicate when characters are not acceptable.
  18. Hmm..stumped really since (in theory) shouldn't need to mess with any firewalls and such. Have you tried the EMU Movies Sync utility just to see if it will connect or it is something local to your computer that is getting blocked? FTP routes separately for EMU Movies. https://emumovies.com/files/file/321-emumovies-sync/ Also you are using the EMU web login in LB not your FTP login, correct?
  19. @itssevere here are the IREM hardware logos.
  20. @itssevere Here are the rest Midway, SNK, Konami, and MSX Hardware Logos
  21. @witherzombie222 Here are the logos requested from the other thread: This one with Japanese series title at top. Versions with old and new logo.
  22. No issues with EmuMovies in LB here. I would reenter your PW and username as a double check since that is response will give if they are incorrect. I also assume you don't have free version of LB?
  23. Great tool, glad you have had time to update it and add features. One thing I notice with naming is that matching for games with "colon" in them that use a dash as a placeholder for reserved characters in file names will not match in AAM but do in LB. So for example: Image Name: Ultima IV - Quest of the Avatar.png LB Matches Game as: Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar AMM: Doesn't match, shows as missing. AAM and LB match this: Ultima IV_ Quest of the Avatar.png Another naming pattern difference is how pinball media is usually named since typically sourced outside LB database. So for example: Image Name: Attack from Mars (Bally 1995).png LB Matches: Attack from Mars LB ignores anything in media brackets or parenthesis for match. AAM doesn't match, shows as missing Particularly for pinball media, the manufacturer and year in parenthesis format is typical. Although LB method isn't 100% either since there are few pinball tables with same name but different year and manufacturer so then LB sees that media as the same table entry. Anyway, not super critical but wanted to let you know.
  24. Interest here as well. I use Unified Refried as well and have been holding back on any getting crazy with playlists simply because I didn't have the time to create the videos to merry it up with the theme.
