Option To View Games That Are Not In Playlists Yet.
SentaiBrad replied to Robin55's topic in Beta Testing
Huh, that's strange then. I know it's not fully complete, but most games should have their genre if they have an entry. X_X -
There was a thread recently with someone getting lots of crashes as well. They solved it by completely re-installing all of LaunchBox and Big Box's dependencies. I'm not quite sure if it's related, it can honestly be anything, but it's a good place to start.

Yea, it's just a system for developers to track requests and bugs more easily.

Option To View Games That Are Not In Playlists Yet.
SentaiBrad replied to Robin55's topic in Beta Testing
What system is this that most of your games don't have a genre? If it's a more popular one, most games should be covered on the LaunchBox Games Database. Otherwise, this is a perfect feature request, and I think it's unique. Click Issues/Requests at the top of the forums and request it there. Don't forget to vote on your own ticket. -
psx PS1/PSX : Batch combine multiple .bin (and then .pbp)
SentaiBrad replied to Ariakan's topic in Emulation
You can certainly find the games without the music files not included. Again, mounting the cue sheet in imgburn or daemon tools, magic iso might even do it, then re-saving it is supposed to be how you do it. CD Mage is a repair tool, but it might have those options as well. Yea, I didn't convert my games with many bin's either, I just converted everything else and still saved a ton of space. Not converting those few games didn't really cost me much space honestly.- 61 replies

Of course, no problem! Glad it's working.

You need to set shader passes to 0 then hit apply like normal. Standalone MAME isn't necessarily easier, but I prefer it. I do prefer RetroArch for everything, and we have a ton of tutorials on the matter. MESS, MAME, RetroArch, etc. Like the RetroArch starter tutorial. I get that it's long, but the last few segments aren't about getting them imported and running. They cover a few extra features. It's also a bit older, so replace it with the new RA, new button configs, etc, but it's still totally valid. MAME non-merged or split work just fine. I am getting split again for .186 to see if it'll work for me now. You can put your entire collection across drives, but it will work best if it's all on the same drive. If your roms, emulators and LaunchBox are on the same drive it uses relative paths. If LaunchBox is on one drive, and your roms and emulators are on another, it uses absolute paths. Relative paths are the key to making LaunchBox truly portable.

psx PS1/PSX : Batch combine multiple .bin (and then .pbp)
SentaiBrad replied to Ariakan's topic in Emulation
@lordmonkus told me about the method, maybe he could elaborate more. Essentially though, you need to mount the cue and re-save it. I think he was mentioning ImgBurn. ISOBuster may not be whats needed here. As for the HW core, it's still very early in development and has lots of issues.- 61 replies

In the default view? Jason would have to edit it and add that in. Is it not there when you view a games details? Otherwise, yea you're on the mark, a custom theme would be what you need.

Unfortunately, no. PayPal wont have our business so we can't offer that as a payment option. If you want to, you can e-mail support@unbrokensoftware.com and they'll help you out with ways you can purchase LaunchBox Premium though. Otherwise, if you have a card attached to your PayPal account, you can use that same card with our payment provider Stripe. I'm sorry about this is an inconvenience.

psx PS1/PSX : Batch combine multiple .bin (and then .pbp)
SentaiBrad replied to Ariakan's topic in Emulation
Oh, I misread then. You're talking about games that would have their audio separated from their image. And either I missed Batch mode, or ignored it... or something. For the games with the messed up audio, mount their cue sheets with a tool that mounts discs and re-save the image as a new bin/cue. This should combine everything. After they're all converted too, you can use Advanced Renamer to rename all of the PBP files after the folders they are in. I did this because with them all named eboot.pbp, RetroArch created the save states with that name, and really messed things up.- 61 replies

Set the RetroArch shader passes to 0 and apply changes. RetroArch and MAME have Overlay packs that you can find, and there are tutorials online to get them set up. I haven't really done it personally, but it's really easy in MAME Standalone. RetroArch and RocketLauncher are not the same things. RetroArch is the UI on top of Libretro, which you can consider the emulator all together (not completely accurate, but good enough for our purposes). RL is a backend system that you could use to plug in to LaunchBox, but it makes things much more complicated for very little added benefit. Some users still love to use RL, but I really do not find it useful enough for the trouble you have to go through adding it together. So RA all together is an emulator (we mostly ignore the front end features because we have LB, but you can consider the "Front End" part, also it's UI), and RL is a backend and not an emulator at all. I don't know what you're referring to when you say Executive Producer Content. If you're referring to our Patreon, that only gets you the benefits posted on our Patreon page. That doesn't get or give you any bonus LaunchBox content. You do still get perks, but LaunchBox Premium is the only thing you'd need to get all of the program benefits. We would love it people pledged at our Patreon campaign, but it's totally optional. EmuMovies Premium gets you Video pretty much. You do obviously get the rest of their content, but a free account could get you all that content. You need LB Premium to even use video, but you could supply them manually if you wanted. They'd need to go in the proper folders and be named after the game name in LaunchBox or the rom file name. With it plugged in with EmuMovies, it downloads, gets set and named automatically for you. So it's an added convenience. You'll also get a Promo Code for EM when you purchase LaunchBox Premium. Neither database is complete, but most of your games should be found without too much tweaking. With a bit of tweaking, more will be found (remember, names aren't exact and sometimes things may not be found right away). There's tons of threads related to how our Database is scraped though. If you have the space to share, a MAME non-merged rom pack offers the best compatability. There is only one MAME CHD pack, but you'll need that to play some games. Also tons more info on that in our forums (that goes for a lot of this I think...?). You do not need to use MAME Software Lists at all. Regular roms work, but I wouldn't use MESS (inside of MAME) for every console. RetroArch has good coverage, then everything else could be a standalone emulator. I only use MESS for systems that don't otherwise have an emulator. I would also say to use MAME standalone as it's got a few advantages over RA MAME, and RA MESS (in MAME) is really convoluded and hard to manage. MESS in MAME Standalone is the easier option. There's a major thread about MESS that I made, and a few tutorials about MESS (replace MESS standalone that I talked about with regular MAME standalone now). Software lists are regular non-arcade roms for MESS. Any BIOS that you might need come in the MAME rom packs. If all you want is MAME, a 1TB drive might cover you for LaunchBox, decked out with the media, and enough space for MAME. With the CHD and non-merged packs all said and done, you'd be looking at a decent chunk. 1TB might be a bit too much by a few hundred HD, but they're super cheap. If you want to go all out, I purchased an 8TB drive for my entire collection, but we're talking almost every system emulatable. If you have any more questions, I'm sure a lot have been answered already on the forums and feel free to ask more.

Reset your Image Cache in Big Box. If that still didn't work, go in to LaunchBox, edit the platform (Tools -> Manage Platforms), and set the image and image category manually. Go back in to Big Box and check. You may need to refresh your cache again after setting it in LaunchBox.

The Star Ratings are what you'd set it to anyways. They don't pull that information from the Database, at least yet. So even if they were there, right now it wouldn't be community ratings, it would just show what you've set. This has been requested several times though. I am sure there is a BitBucket ticket for it if you'd like to vote on it.

psx PS1/PSX : Batch combine multiple .bin (and then .pbp)
SentaiBrad replied to Ariakan's topic in Emulation
Just so you know, the PS1 Hardware core has severe issues, so it'd be best to use the other Beetle / Mednafen core, it will function much much better. Otherwise, I don't know of an easy way to batch convert the PS1 games to PBP. I want to say someone figured it out, but I can't for the life of me find it or remember. I did it by hand, all my games. I would say to focus on a few games that are bugged, that you'd want to play right now or soon. Otherwise, if someone else knows how then please let us know.- 61 replies

Is there a way to know why a game was rejected?
SentaiBrad replied to heelsinc's topic in Contributions
Or a way for people who are rejecting it on the basis of duplication to give a link to the database entry it is a duplicate of. It can easily go in any direction, the submitter's or moderator's could either be at fault in that situation. -
The GTA Games on PSP don't work well in a CSO. I don't know if that's the case for the PS2 games, but it would make sense. Those games are in a league of their own in terms of how far it pushed their respective systems.
-
Pretty much, yea.
-
Yes, a lot. Use MaxCSO from the PCSX2 developers and it can save you a ton of space.
-
Yea, there really isn't anything like that in LaunchBox. The forums are full of a ton of threads though. We also have our YouTube channel full of tutorials as well if you want something visual.
-
Yea, PS2 games don't require a cue sheet. All mine are CSO's now, but before they were bin, iso, mds, what ever it was.

I want to play Coinops emulator Roms from original Xbox on PC!!!
SentaiBrad replied to Imortus.san's topic in Emulation
I've heard of these, but not the hacked versions. I think they might have been specifically built, but if HBMAME does this, then great. Sadly though, if their names are off, even slightly (especially because these are based on a much older version of MAME), you're gonna need an older version of HBMAME most likely and they will most likely not import in to LaunchBox... at all. These are certainly not the norm, and this is the first time I've ever seen this request.
