Feature Request: Sort Platforms & Playlists with Arrow or Drag/Drop
SentaiBrad replied to angelobodetti's topic in Features
Good idea, thanks Angelo. -
There are a ton of toxic sub-communities unfortunately, and we try very hard to keep that out.

Theme with larger size windowed game videos
SentaiBrad replied to zorkiii's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
They should be in \..\LaunchBox\Videos\Platforms\. As for that specific style of set up, I don't know what to tell you. Unless someone knows of something close enough, someone might have to make it. Check out our Theme section and try and find a theme that you think looks good. -
Of course, no problem!

Sadly, TGHS wont be coming back. I can't get in to why. -
Reason: "Because everyone needs more alf in their lives"
SentaiBrad replied to JamesBond@ge's topic in Contributions
That's awesome. Yea, I put a lot of game info in to RSS now too. I'm covering way more games now than I ever have been. -
Sweet, glad you got it sorted out! Happy Gaming.

The rom could be corrupt potentially? If it's ONLY that one game...

I'm not up on the specific options, but have you checked or disabled any other audio options? Have you enabled anything recently like Port Audio? I would try changing the audio driver for those games, and see if that helps.

program/plugin to help with creating controller images?
SentaiBrad replied to craiganderson's topic in Features
I know of how we could go about making one, but I don't know of any templates or presets ready to go. -
I also removed your e-mail for privacy reasons.

Anyone know how to emulate Atari Jaguar CD?
SentaiBrad replied to angelobodetti's topic in Emulation
I did do an Atari tutorial video at one point, and did cover the Jaguar. I think that was the emulator I did talk about. CD Emulation though is extremely poor though, like Derek showed. -
Well, with some clarification I say that makes sense. If it was causing a source of strife over there, then I would understand. That has come up a few times with people coming from outside our community, and starting blatantly biased posts just to rile people up. We wouldn't stand for it, I think it's fair to assume you guys wouldn't either. If anyone from our community see's this, know that the Staff and myself do not condone going to other forums and belittling or starting flame wars. Agent 47 is correct: Our program and results speak for it's self. If you do want to have these conversations, then have them here or at a neutral location like Reddit. We've even allowed HS and RL threads in the past as long as it stays civil from both sides. Any of the moderators personal feelings are put aside.

We don't base our collection off of a single rom set. We like the No-Intro set as a base, but we've talked about this in many many threads. Hell, our database isn't even fully complete yet. It's all community ran and moderated, and moving very fast. I would only import your games folder, not the rest of that stuff. Make sure to extract any archives, then import just the games. There wont be any database information for anything else. Scraping works like Kodi or Plex, if the name is close enough in certain regards it will be found, but the names need to be as close as they can be to our database. The Initial scrape is a bit more strict to prevent items being identified wrongly, but it still happens from time to time (usually with multiple games that have the same name, or super simplistic names).

You don't need RL for that. Even if they were asking about that, RetroArch has per-core and per-game overrides that automatically load. You could either put them in a new platform and create a new associated platform line, or what Derek said.
-
Wait they are? Have I just been missing this? Hey, I'm human too. I thought they weren't included, but I might have gotten that confused with the unplayable flag. Or thought to myself, they are unplayable, so they're not in the set. So they are there, and you're saying a script to pull them out like for DEMUL is a good idea? I'll keep an eye out.

Yes, GX is one of the more accurate emulators.

The method would be to highlight everything in your playlist and bulk edit the platform name. That's how you'd do it when looking at games in a regular platform. The Bulk Edit Wizard is how you change a lot of values for several games at once. The only thing you'll need to do is re-scrape the platforms for media. When you rename a platform the folders with the media are still the old platform name and need to be manually renamed. Except in this case you're moving a few games, not all of the games, so you can't really just go in and rename the folders to the new platform names. That's the only thing that really needs to change, media transferring with a platform when a name changes. Otherwise, using scrape as for custom platforms is still required even if you created and imported in to these platforms directly. So don't forget to edit the platforms and scrape them as arcade.

I have no info to give you about HS, but MAME covers quite a lot of Arcade platforms, that's why when you import your MAME set there's the option to create playlists and you get all those playlists. It's for people who like them separated. None of those emulators do what MAME can't. FBA is the only one that people still love to use for NeoGeo, and it can help with lower end machines, but otherwise MAME is just fine. There are only 2 or 3 systems not in the MAME set, they are different, and there for MAME doesn't have anything to do with them. Taito Type X are just PC games and Sega Model 3 is Arcade, but not in MAME and requires Supermodel 3.
-
Ah, well there ya go. If that's the case, then yea you're gonna need to bulk edit their platform. Honestly, there's no reason you never could have, I just didn't know of this (I don't use overlays). In terms of having LaunchBox, your MAME rom set and MAME going, you really don't need to split it up, unless for personal reasons though. I'll need to remember this though, thanks for letting me know.

Deleting it would more than likely help at this point. Where is your LB install located? Do you have write permissions? If you let it stick to the default location of the C drive, a lot of people's machines for various reasons don't give proper permissions. You could try running LaunchBox in admin mode, but just as a test. If you leave it in admin mode, it could cause more issues down the line. If that does fix it, moving LB to a different drive and making sure you have permissions over that folder might be the solution.

Also, just because a game comes with a cue sheet, doesn't mean that it's a quality rip. Go with a Trurip, Redump or Darkwater Saturn set. That would be the best base you can have for games. Otherwise, Saturn emulation, like N64 and Xbox emulation, lack for various technical reasons. It wasn't done on purpose, it's just what the hardware engineer's chose for what they thought was the best at the time. It doesn't help that the Saturn wasn't even meant to do 3D, but added that capability at the last second, and then even 2D took a hit. Look at Symphony of the Night on Saturn vs PS1. Granted, I think they mentioned something about not having enough time to work on it, but yea. Mednafen Saturn in RetroArch is what I use, and the second Saturn tutorial I did. Yabause was first, and when Mednafen came out I quickly made v2. Yabause is very bad. I only chose it over SSF for the more simplistic approach, but Mednafen is simplistic in approach with a much higher bar of quality. Because of that bar of quality, poorly ripped games wont do. Sega did put a lot in to the system, they just did it in an ass backwards way that made it much more difficult than it needed to be. They also didn't think 3D would be on them so fast.
