  1. I've also never had a need to use the %romfile% variable with any of my emulators, with the exception of blueMSX when I was testing it out with multiple Associated Platforms. It came in very handy then, as it allowed LaunchBox to pass the correct information to enable blueMSX to switch it's emulation mode to match the game's platform. By the way, Jason also added two other variables back then. Here are the three. %romfile% - gets replaced with the rom file path. %platform% - gets replaced with the platform name. %launchboxorbigboxexepath% - gets replaced with the EXE path to the running instance of LaunchBox or Big Box .
  2. Yes, zipping a copy of the CHD file will also work, in fact anything (or nothing) can be put in the zip file. It's just something to get around LaunchBox not being able to be pointed to a folder, so an empty zip would be more practical memory wise, especially if the CHD file is very large. The golf one in question weighs in at around 1 GB. The empty zip file can be also just copied and renamed whenever you meet another of these CHD only games such as Chaos Heat or XII Stag.
  3. Some while back Jason added the %romfile% variable to allow the use of parameters after the ROM file. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for.
  4. Hi @Soulnova In trying out MAME you need to go with a different game than the one you mentioned. Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 New Age of Heroes (Export, Korea, Rev A) - mvsc2.zip This game also needs The Naomi Bios - naomi.zip The MIE Device - mie.zip the JVS Device - jvs13551.zip The bad news is that you picked a game that doesn't currently work in MAME. With everything in place and setup correctly you'll probably only get as far as the Naomi logo screen or the Loading Game Now screen.
  5. Hi @chrisg229. I can use blueMSX to launch both my MSX2 and ColecoVision game roms via LaunchBox. For an example, See my emulator setup images below. But I do prefer to use MAME with MESS.
  6. Flip Box works fine for me with both the LaunchBox and BigBox interfaces. In LaunchBox, go to Tools, Options, Box Back Priorities and make sure the Box Back tickbox is enabled.

  8. Hi @Dan As others have pointed out, you can't disable this, but you can make it less obvious (if you have Premium) by going to Tools, Options, Theme Features and enabling the Colourize Game Selections tickbox. Depending on your Colour Theme and Background, this can tone down the grey box considerably. See the 2 images below which show the Colourize Game Selections feature off and on with my Cadet Blue theme.
  9. Hi @Jason Carr I emailed my Data folder to you on Nov 18th but it seems to have gone astray. I'll send my current one to you.
  10. Hi deanord. Try this. Open LaunchBox (not BigBox). Go to Tools, Options, Screenshot Priorities, and clear all tickboxes. Now open BigBox. Go to Options, Images, and set Game Image Type to Screenshots.
  11. Just like MAME you need to first insert coins (keyboard 5) and start (keyboard 1) to exit demo mode and play. Also, fullscreen may look iffy. Hitting the fullscreen/window toggle F11 key twice should give you fullscreen proper. You need to play around with DICE itself before adding it to LaunchBox. Yes it's the Vista Windows Explorer. LaunchBox and BigBox (Jason's default theme) are both running merrily with no issues apart from VLCx86 not working. WMP is doing the job just fine.
  12. Currently there is no way to place images above the game information. The only way to move the images up the panel is to disable some of the tick boxes. You can do this in the Game Details window (Tools, Options, Game Details).
  13. To add each game Application Path: point this to your DICE executable. Parameters: type the game name (you'll find the list in the ReadMe text file that came with DICE). When you press OK and LaunchBox goes on about using an emulator etc., just select NO. For certain games to work properly, an external ROM is also needed. Put them in the roms folder in your DICE folder; if you don't see this folder then create it. These external ROMs must be renamed according to the DICE ReadMe list. So the game Anti-Aircraft [TTL] needs it's external ROM renamed from antiairc.zip to antiaircraft.zip There's no need to do anything else with these external ROMs. Whan a game that needs one is run, DICE will know one is needed and look in it's roms folder for it. If the ROM is missing or wrongly named, then DICE will show an error box. Two images here, one of a DICE game LaunchBox setup, the other of my DICE roms folder.
  14. DICE 0.9 simulates 21 of the pre-CPU arcade games of the 1970's. As there are no actual game files for LaunchBox to point to, you need to run DICE as an application and add the game name (as known to DICE) as a parameter. Some games also need an external ROM image in order to work properly: Anti-Aircraft, Attack, Clean Sweep, Crash n Score, Indy 4, Jet Fighter, Shark JAWS, Steeplechase, Stunt Cycle and Wipeout. You need the TTL versions of these. The ROMs (still zipped) go in the DICE roms folder and they must be renamed to the DICE recognised names as listed in the text file that comes with DICE. These games are also launched with DICE run as an application. DICE will detect if an external ROM is present and use it. DICE broadly follows MAME in expecting coin credit entering and select player to start.
  15. Hi Jason. I tested the official V.7 and the left sidebar Platforms view not sorting issue with LaunchBox ever since the Category feature was added is still there. With Game Counts enabled, here is how Platform sorting displays for me with various combinations of the ALL, NONE and EXISTS options: With ALL, NONE and EXISTS all disabled - platform sorting is correct. With ALL, NONE and EXISTS all enabled - platform sorting is correct. With any one of these three options enabled and the other two disabled - platform sorting is incorrect. For example, with ALL enabled and both NONE and EXISTS disabled. With any two of these three options enabled and the third one disabled - platform sorting is correct. For example, with both ALL and EXISTS enabled and NONE disabled. With Game Counts disabled, then all of the above combinations of ALL, NONE and EXISTS will sort platforms correctly.
  16. Hi teceem. On the subject of showing the Box front in the Details pane (LaunchBox right sidebar), currently the direct options don't allow for Box fronts. As a workaround go to Tools, Options, Screenshot Priorities and tick the Box-front box. This will add the game Box covers to the Details pane. If you want the Box to show above the game screenshot, just move it up the priorities list.
  17. The Dropbox Repository link is still working and you can download from it, but bear in mind that the member who created and maintained it appears to be no longer active here. He hasn't been on the forums for well over a year now.
  18. Hi 80sarcadeboy. I also tried this and I couldn't get it to work. The "Show Clear Logo In Game Details" tickbox in the Options, Images menu has to do with showing or hiding the clear logo as a sidebar header for a particular game when you are viewing that game's Details menu. What's really needed here is an option to cycle the Game Image Type to NONE. Here is a workaround that may hide your Clear Logos as shown in your screenshot. Set the Game Image Type to Boxes. Exit from BigBox to LaunchBox and go to Tools, Options, Box Front Priorities. Clear any active tickboxes and save. Now start BigBox and see if your Clear Logos are absent. By the way, clearing all the Box Front Priorities tickboxes in LaunchBox will set all your boxart images in LaunchBox to their defaults - Grey Box with LaunchBox cube. But if you only use BigBox then this may not be a problem for you. You can always temporarily restore these whenever you need to use LaunchBox itself by re-ticking the boxes you used to use, and clearing them again once you finish with LaunchBox.
  19. Hi alpenjodler. You can add different versions of a game such as a different region, a pre-release, a translated copy, a trained copy and so on using the Additional Apps feature in LaunchBox. Any Additional Apps you create in LaunchBox for a game will be available in BigBox. You'll have just one visual entry for the game, with the other options available in LaunchBox via right-clicking the game's boxart and in BigBox from within the Game Details menu.
  20. Hi @Jason Carr My Data folder is on it's way to you.
  21. If you want blueMSX to automatically launch games for more than one system then, once you've assigned blueMSX to be the emulator to use with those Platforms, just add the Platforms and their required parameters to the Associated Platforms section of the blueMSX Edit Emulator window in LaunchBox. If some of your games are zipped then enable the "Extract ROM archives before running" tick-box. When you launch a game blueMSX will then automatically select the machine to emulate and launch the game. The image below shows some example settings that allow blueMSX to launch games in Microsoft MSX2, ColecoVision and Sega SG-1000 Platforms through LaunchBox. While all of this is nice to play around with, I'd still go with MAME/MESS.
  22. Hi In virtute Dei. If you open this thread and scroll to the 2nd post you will see a link that will take you to the old Dropbox Repository. You'll find a collection of machine image pngs in the Device Images section. I'm sure that the Dragon and Colour Genie are in there. If you're stuck for some obscure ones why not post a list and maybe members can help out. By the way, your hard work on this is excellent and much appreciated. http://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/28686-new-launchbox-platform-image-collection-thread/
  23. I'd go with MAME/MESS too, but you can also use blueMSXv282full (the standalone emulator, not the RA core one) to emulate the ColecoVision if you want to experiment with something else. As well as being able to emulate a variety of MSX, MSX2, MSX2+ and MSXturboR machines, blueMSX can also emulate some non-MSX machines. Coleco machines: ColecoVision console. ColecoVision with Opcode Memory Extension. Bit Corporation Dina. Spectravideo SV1-603 Coleco game adapter. Sega machines: SG-1000 console. SC-3000 computer. SF-7000 computer. Spectravideo machines: SV1-318. SV1-328. SV1-328 80. SV1-328 80 Swedish. SV1-328 MK2. All these can be selected (and reconfigured if you don't like the defaults) using the Machine Editor.
  24. Hi @Jason Carr Just an update on the LaunchBox original Platform view not displaying in alphabetical order since the introduction of the Platform Category feature. As I mentioned earlier, using the old Platform view shows the platforms in correct order with game counts off but all jumbled up when game counts are on. But if you disable the All, None and Exists check boxes, then the platforms sort ok with game counts enabled.
  25. Hi master333. I forgot to mention that if you disable the All, None and Exists check boxes, then your platforms will sort ok with game counts enabled.
