  1. The two games you mention both use the Taito Device cchip.zip Maybe your romset for Mame188 32bit is missing this.
  2. When you launch a MAME game you can then press TAB and the configuration menu will open. Namco's Puck Man (Japan set 1) has the following clones: Abscam - abscam.zip Buccaneer - bucaner.zip Caterpillar Pacman Hack - ctrpllr.zip Come Come (Petaco SA bootleg of Puck Man) - pacmanpe.zip Crock-Man - crockman.zip Ghost Muncher - ghostmun.zip Hangly-Man (set 1) - hangly.zip Hangly-Man (set 2) - hangly2.zip Hangly-Man (set 3) - hangly3.zip Joyman - joyman.zip - joyman.zip New Puck-X - newpuckx.zip Newpuc2 (set 1) - newpuc2.zip Newpuc2 (set 2) - newpuc2b.zip Pac-Man (bootleg on World Cup '90 hardware) - pac90.zip Pac-Man (Galaxian hardware, set 1) - pacmanbl.zip Pac-Man (Galaxian hardware, set 2) - pacmanbla.zip Pac-Man (Hearts) - pacheart.zip Pac-Man (JPM bootleg) - pacmanjpm.zip Pac-Man (Midway, harder) - pacmod.zip Pac-Man (Midway, speedup hack) - pacmanf.zip Pac-Man (Midway) - pacman.zip Pac-Man (Moon Alien 'AL-10A1' hardware) - pacmanblb.zip Pac-Man (SegaSA / Sonic) - pacmanso.zip Pacu-Man (Spanish bootleg of Puck Man) - pacuman.zip Piranha - piranha.zip Piranha (hack) - piranhah.zip Piranha (older) - piranhao.zip Popeye-Man - popeyeman.zip Puck Man (bootleg set 1) - puckmanb.zip Puck Man (bootleg set 2) - puckmanh.zip Puck Man (Japan set 2) - puckmod.zip Puck Man (Spanish, 'Made in Greece' bootleg) - pacmansp.zip Puck Man (speedup hack) - puckmanf.zip
  3. Hi @HotMommasCowboy Glad you got things sorted. I'm not clear on what you mean by your Pac-man games "work but not normal". Bear in mind that Pac Man games by the likes of Mazooma and QPS are mechanical ones and are unrelated to the Namco maze game where you gobble up dots. The parent is Namco's Puck Man Japan set 1 (puckman.zip) and it has lots of clones. I don't use RA so can't help you there, sorry.
  4. Hi @HotMommasCowboy You're more than welcome. Hope it works for you.
  5. Hi @HotMommasCowboy It looks like you have the bios romsets for the non-arcade stuff but no arcade roms. Look inside your roms folder where you have these platform roms and see if you have roms such as 1944.zip, avsp.zip, mslug.zip to just name a few.
  6. Yes, I'd definitely play around with this issue some more before getting a new full romset. I don't use MAMEUI myself so I can't help you with the columns issue. Sorry.
  7. Hi @HotMommasCowboy Either will work in LaunchBox. The thing with a merged game is that the files for the Parent as well as all of it's clones are in a single zip and some frontends don't like this. You may find this a bit helpful. With your Directories configured to access your Split folder and not your Merged one, in your MAME GUI left panel, switch to Available to show only your games that MAME can find in this folder. If it shows your Split games, then in your right panel select Infos to bring up the General Info screen. If the Roms and Samples Audit Pass are Disabled, then Enable them via Configure Options, Miscellaneous Options, set Info Auto Audit to ON and Save. The Audit Pass information is very basic but will show if a game is good or bad in MAME. If all your Split games are showing up as BAD then maybe you can source a new romset. If you're iffy about trying Split again, you could go for a Non-Merged romset (0.188 to match your version of MAME).
  8. From what you say you seem to have two collections of MAME games, Split and Merged, in two separate folders. While MAME itself can cope with Merged games, LaunchBox, like some other frontends, may not. It's fine with Split or Non-Merged. If you are getting errors when trying to run your Split roms using MAME itself check your Directory settings in MAME to see if your Split folder path is included. If it is then you may have a corrupt set, I believe this was an issue some time back.
  9. Hi @HotMommasCowboy The game in your screenshot cannot be played in MAME. But the error message seems to show that you either haven't got this game or MAME is unaware of it's location. If you had then you would see the error message shown below. Hitting any key twice would bring up the screen shown below. This screen can't be interacted with in MAME as this is a mechanical game and different to the Donkey Kong platform one.
  10. I get this all the time too, but I have no problem going in from the Forums or via a bookmark.
  11. Unless you plan on using more than one physical monitor with MAME and want to use different aspect ratios, you can ignore aspect 0,1,2,3 and just concentrate on aspect. This can have the following values auto 16:9 4:3 16:10 3:2 3:4 5:2 5:3 The default is auto which displays a game using it's original aspect ratio. Using, say 16:9, would stretch the game to fill a modern 16:9 monitor or TV screen.
  12. Hi @drhoemmal Yes, leave that blank. Emulating the Aamber Pegasus with MAME is broadly similar to any other supported cartridge system. You need the bios (pegasus.zip) which goes in a location that MAME is aware of (usually the roms folder in MAME). Next you need to add your new platform to MAME's Associated Platforms list. Open your MAME Edit Emulator, Associated Platforms tab and add the name you've chosen for the platform, say Aamber Pegasus, to the Associated Platform field entries. And in the Default Command-Line Parameters field enter pegasus -cart1 If you haven't already used LaunchBox to import your Aamber Pegasus games, then you can add the games manually (you only have a few games to do). Select Game, Add, set the Platform field box to your chosen name, say Aamber Pegasus, and browse to the game in the Launcher tab, ROM File (Emulation is enabled) Box and save (OK). Repeat for your other games. You should now have a platform in LaunchBox called Aamber Pegasus (or whatever you have named it) with your games ready to click and play using MAME.
  13. While LaunchBox displays your name on it's main screen, BigBox does not but shows it on it's Options and Settings screen. You can hide your name in LaunchBox by switching to Fullscreen. However, if other people are having a hands-on, it's likely that someone will eventually turn this off and up comes your name. Your name (and your email address) is also available via Help, About, Premium, as well as via Help, License Registration.
  14. XPadder does not offer a free trial as far as I know, but there is an older, now freeware version (XPadder Version 5.3) on the internet which I've used and which would give you an idea of it's capabilities. If you are prepared to pay for this type of software, then you might also like to check out Pinnacle Game Profiler which does offer a free uncrippled trial period.
  15. Hi @mothergoose729 The game you mentioned, TANK12_T2R.bin is a valid game and it works fine for me using standalone MAME and LaunchBox. The following games also work for me. GALAXY_HANGMAN.bin INVADERS11.bin INVADERS12.bin TANK11_T2R.bin I really don't know that much about RetroArch, but you seem to have the correct bios and games for the Aamber Pegasus, so maybe you're having an issue with RetroArch itself. I believe that RetroArch also supports MESS and that may be worth a try. Otherwise you may have to wait for someone versed in RetroArch to happen by. Just for reference, to play the cartridge games (bin extension) using standalone MAME in LaunchBox, add the Aamber Pegasus platform to your MAME emulator Associated Platforms and set it's Default Command-Line Parameters to pegasus -cart1 These games will also play using the clone machine (Aamber Pegasus with RAM expansion unit) using the Default Command-Line Parameters pegasusm -cart1
  16. I don't know about MAME in Retroarch, but the normal MAME handles the Aamber Pegasus ok. The Default Command-Line Parameters for the rom cartridge (bin) games are pegasus -cart1 or pegasusm -cart1 There are only a few games (Galaxy Wars, Hangman, Invaders and Tanks) but they run ok in MAME if you don't mind the lack of sound. I never tested the cassette (wav) games as I could never find any.
  17. I agree. If a game is already on the database, even if it's only a stub (Name and nothing else) then the best thing for a submitter with lots of images and data fields is to edit the existing game rather than submit a new one. However, the database has one glaring flaw. If a game has been submitted and is still going through moderation, then a second submitter has no knowledge of this and it's in a situation like this that a stub can make it while a heavily research submission is rejected simply by being further down the queue. On a slightly different topic, there were platforms for which more than one game with the same name were published. These games would have been totally different games by different publishers, with the game name being the only thing in common. Curious as to how the mods treat such submissions.

    Commodore VIC-20

Hi @4pp_r0n3 I would try a dedicated emulator too, but if you're set on using MAME, then here goes. The parent machine is VIC-1001 (Japan). To run this you need the machine's romset and a device romset vic1001.zip c1541.zip There are 3 clone machines VIC-20 (NTSC). To run this you also need vic20.zip VIC-20 (Sweden/Finland). To run this you also need vic20_se.zip VIC-20 / VIC-20 (PAL). To run this you also need vic20p.zip The cartridge games with the a0 (A0) extension I found the easiest to work with as they open when clicked in LaunchBox. If using cartridge games, your Default Command-Line Params in your MAME (Arcade) Associated Platforms tab will be one of (take your pick) vic1001 -cart1 vic20 -cart1 vic20p -cart1 You may find the game screen size and position a bit different when using the PAL clone. It's been a while since I played around with the VIC-20 under MAME and I didn't try too many games so you may find issues that I didn't. Best of luck and I hope that this has helped you a little.
  19. If I understand correctly you grabbed a full MAME 185 romset and then reduced it to the games you want and discarded the rest. From a quick glance it looks like you may have multiple issues. A number of your listed games use the QSound device (qsound.zip) and maybe this is missing. The game Astrochase uses the Max-A-Flex Bios (maxaflex.zip) and you may be missing this. The game Afterburner doesn't use any Bios or Device, but it's a clone of Afterburner II, so maybe the parent is missing. Killer Instinct uses a CHD so maybe this is missing, or else the parent is missing and you've kept a clone instead. The game Birdie King 3 is a mystery as this game uses no Bios or Device and has no clones, so this should work ok.
  20. You can get MAMEUI 185 (64 and 32 bit versions) from the EmuCR site. http://www.emucr.com/2017/04/mameui-v0185.html
  21. This is very sad news indeed. Brad has devoted so much of his time and talent to this project for as long as I can remember. What can I say only to wish you all the best in your future.
  22. Hi @DJQuad I'm not too sure if you're talking about the Browser version or the "normal" Dark Castle. If it's the latter running under MAME/MESS and you are getting the UNABLE TO LOAD PRODOS error message when you launch it, then your copy of the game is not bootable.
  23. MAME or MESS is probably best, but the other choices you mentioned do also work. I've used Nostalgia 5 and had no issues with games with the int extension. Also, blueMSX has no problems running ColecoVision games. You add your ColecoVision platform as an Associated Platform to blueMSX. The Default Command-Line Parameters are /machine "COL - ColecoVision" /rom1 %romfile%
  24. Deleting the Cache folder is no big deal, You can even delete it while LaunchBox is running. I've deleted mine on a number of occasions. LaunchBox creates a new Cache folder. If your images have not refreshed then select Tools and Refresh All Images.
  25. I would just go with one platform for your Apple IIgs. If all or most of your games are in the dsk (or another flop1 supported) format, then for your Associated Platform Default Command-Line Parameters you can use apple2gs -flop1 This will handle your single disk games. For multiple disk games you can set a Custom Command-Line Parameter for each game. These override the Platform's Default one and take the form apple2gs -flop1 %romfile% -flop2 "full path to disk 2 goes here" and so on if needed. If you have a few games which use a format that only supports flop3 and flop4, you could apply Custom Parameters to those games as well. The MAME Apple IIgs media support list is: flop1 and flop2 and flop3 and flop4 dsk, po, fdi, td0, imd, cqm, d77, d88, 1dd flop1 and flop2 only do, bin, nib flop3 and flop4 only img, image, dc, 2img, 2mg
