    Joy2key question

Hi Charco. See here for help with XPadder http://xpadder.com/forum4/viewforum.php?f=7

    Viva NoNo

I don't know how to do links. If you use the search box to search for vivanonno it will find it.
  3. Hi sarge. Try this. To remove the Platform Banner (the Genesis image), in BigBox select Options, Views, and set the Platform List View to Platforms Wheel with Video, Details and Thumbs. And to hide the Details text, now go to Options, Platform Details, and clear all the check boxes.

    Viva NoNo

Hi knightCrawler In the forums go to Off Topic, Emulation and browse to the topic Vivanonno emulator need help.
  5. Hi knightCrawler. Regarding the issues with running MSX2 in MESS. MESS151 supports the generic msx, msx2 and msx2p systems. However, from about MESS155 onward and of course all the MAME builds with MESS integrated, this support has been dropped. If you checkout the pastebin link posted above by lordmonkus for MESS174 you'll see that the msx, msx2 and msx2p systems are absent. Apparently, with the MAME/MESS devs constantly looking for accuracy, this support of what is a specification or architecture used by many machines was abandoned in favour of support for the actual machines themselves. So to emulate MSX1, MSX2, MSX2+ using a build of MESS later than 154 or MAME with MESS integrated you need to emulate a real MSX machine. The problem is that there are so many of them. They were made by the likes of Sony, Yamaha, Toshiba, Canon, Mitsubishi, Panasonic and so on. Which one is best - who knows. Which one has the best game compatibility - again who knows. MESS offers the following best match list. Unknown system 'msx2' "msx2" approximately matches the following supported machines (best match first): ax350 AX-350 (MSX2) ax370 AX-370 (MSX2) canonv25 V-25 (MSX2) canonv30 V-30 (MSX2) canonv30f V-30F (MSX2) cpc300 IQ-2000 CPC-300 (Korea) (MSX2) cpc300e IQ-2000 CPC-300E (Korea) (MSX2) cpc330k CPC-330K KOBO (Korea) (MSX2) cpc400 X-II CPC-400 (Korea) (MSX2) cpc400s X-II CPC-400S (Korea) (MSX2) expert20 Expert 2.0 (Brazil) (MSX2) expert3i Expert 3 IDE (MSX2+) expert3t Expert 3 Turbo (MSX2+) expertac Expert AC88+ (MSX2+) expertdx Expert DDX+ (MSX2+) fpc900 FPC-900 (MSX2) Of course there are many more MSX/MSX2/MSX2+ machines available. Some will have support for cartridge, cassette and floppy, while others will not have floppy support. I tried out the Canon V-30 (MSX2) with MAME179 and it worked the same as the old generic msx2 using MESS151. Out of 9 MSX2 games I tested, 8 ran and 1 failed (Aleste). This game apparently needs some sort of music file to be loaded into the cart2 slot. By the way, bluesmx runs Aleste just fine. As an example, to use the Canon V-30 (MSX2) machine with MAME179, the system is canonv30 and the bios needed is canonv30.zip. In MAME's Associated Platforms tab for your MSX2 platform, the basic command line parameters are canonv30 -cart1 or canonv30 -flop1 or canonv30 -cass depending on the format of your games.

    Joy2key question

You can do this by using the Additional Apps feature in LaunchBox's game edit window. Set up one Additional App to run your profile before the game, and a second one to close your profiler after the game is exited. I don't use Joy2Key myself, I use XPadder, but here are my Additional Apps just to show an example.
  7. Rather than doing a roll back, you might like to post the issues you're having with 6.10+ and see if any members can be of help. If your issues with 6.10 and later are serious enough for you to want to roll back, then look for the Topic "Previous version or downgrade?" in the Troubleshooting subforum of the LaunchBox forum. You'll find a dropbox link to 6.9 by Kirsten Marie. Bear in mind that going back to 6.9 will make LaunchBox revert to using the old, now obsolete single XML file as opposed to the new split structure introduced with 6.10. In short, all changes you've made since you originally updated from 6.9 will be effectively lost. If you do decide to roll back, do make a backup of your LaunchBox folder first. It may take time but it's worth having.
  8. Hi bobrpggamer. Go to Tools, Options, Background Priorities and make sure that all boxes are cleared.
  9. Hi voyagerxp. If you go to the Troubleshooting subforum in the LaunchBox forum and look for the Topic Previous Version or Downgrade? you will find a dropbox link to download the 6.9 setup file.
  10. If you have decided on Demul then forget the Mame files and get Virtua Fighter 4 Final Tuned (Rev. B) (GDS-0036F) for Demul. This comes as vf4tuned.zip. It's about 200MB and has just one file inside called vf4tuned.bin
  11. The Virtua Fighter 4 Final Tuned game needs The Game Set vf4tuned.zip The Bios Set naomi2.zip Device Set 1 mie.zip Device Set 2 jvs13551.zip The CHD gds-0036f.chd However, I doubt this game will work in Mame. It's been a while since I played around with the Virtua Fighter games, but I remember that the only ones that worked in Mame were the original Virtua Fighter and Virtua Fighter Kids. And these had issues in Mame. Your best bet might be something like Demul, nullDC or Makaron.
  12. Hi ckp. The Guilty Gears games are Sega Naomi GD-ROM games. I haven't tried any of this but see the attached image, in particular the bit about run specified system image <CD/GD media systems only>.
  13. Hi master333. The CPS2 games issue has nothing to do with the QSound Device. The 0.178 version of MAME requires each CPS2 game romset to have a KEY file named after the rom: 1944.key, avsp.key and so on. Your CPS2 game romsets need to be updated to MAME 0.178 compatible versions which contain these new KEY files. I haven't had any issues with CPS1 games on updating to Mame 0.178.
  14. Hi Codeman. You cannot edit Images and Details for Platforms in the LaunchBox Games DB. This may be possible in the future, as quite a lot of Platforms have no image or description.

    Raine

Hi kerszr. I've used Raine to play Neo Geo CD games. To get the game to automatically open when run from LaunchBox, you need to remove the -g parameter and just use the optional -nogui one.
  16. Hi Rick. The issue may be with the MaxPlayers Field entry. I have 2 games stuck in moderation, one with 82 Approvals and 1 Rejection, and the other with 112 Approvals and 1 Rejection, and my issue appears to be with my entries in the MaxPlayers Field. I understand that Jason will be working on the Database soon and hopefully these issues will be cleared up then.
  17. If you want to be sure, then from within LaunchBox (not BigBox) select Help About Premium, and you will see if you have a forever licence or not.
  18. Hi @ckp. Maybe I didn't explain properly. My fault. As you know Additional Apps can be used to run stuff before the main app and also to end it if needed after the main app closes. They can also be used via the context menu to open stuff like images, docs, urls etc. And they can also be used to launch a different version of the main game. Maybe a cracked version or a pre-release one. When used to play a different version of the main game or the next disk of a multi-disk game, if the main game runs under emulation then you would enable this box to allow the version added as an Additional App to use emulation also.
  19. At the moment you cannot display the File name or the Version field in BigBox. However, as these can be displayed in LaunchBox itself, it may be relatively easy for Jason to enable displaying them in BigBox too. Maybe it's on his to-do list or has a ticket for voting on.
  20. If this box is ticked, then the Additional App will launch using the same Emulator as the main game uses. For example, you may have a game in LaunchBox that launches with ePSXe. This will allow the game set as an Additional App to launch with ePSXe too.
  21. Many thanks Jason.
  22. Hi Jason. I'm not sure if this belongs here (Contributions) or in Troubleshooting. Apologies if I've got this wrong. I've got a pair of uploads stuck in a sort of Pending Limbo. One currently has 104 Approvals and 1 Rejection, the other has 76 Approvals and 1 Rejection. The games in question are Glug Glug and Nebulus for the Enterprise platform. Both of these games are in active moderation since the 6th. of June, and so it's quite safe to assume that they are not going to be Accepted or Rejected. I'm just wondering if it is possible to have them removed/deleted from the submissions in order that they may be re-submitted. I'm not certain but I suspect that my entry in the MaxPlayers field of both games may be the culprit. I don't know whether it's the inclusion of text, or the use of a comma.
  23. Hi Jason. I just grabbed the new beta and gave the BigBox Platforms Clear Logos Wheel a good spin, and the random border lines are finally gone. Well done on persevering with this pesky issue and solving it.
  24. Hi Martin. The Platform Clear Logo transparencies look fine when viewed with an image editor like The Gimp, Paint.NET, FastStone etc. The issue only occurs within BigBox. The odd thing is it's random; as you loop through the Platforms, a particular Clear Logo will be ok, then show the border issue, and then look ok once again.

    ZInc Games

Here is how to get Zinc up and running in LaunchBox. Download these two files. Zinc 1.1 emulator (zinc11-win32.zip). OpenGL and D3D renderers 1.2 plugin (d3d-ogl12.zip). Unzip the emulator. Unzip the renderers plugin. Inside this are 2 folders with D3D and OpenGL versions of the Zinc renderer. They have the same filename but are different. Decide which version of the renderer.znc file you want to use and copy it into the root of your Zinc emulator folder. Copy the renderer.cfg file into the root of your Zinc emulator folder. Overwrite the existing file when asked. Now get your games. Remember that some will need a bios file, and clones will need their parent rom. Game and bios roms all go in the emulator's roms folder - leave them zipped. Zinc is command line based (no GUI), and unlike other emulators which use the game's rom name in the command line, Zinc uses a game number to specify a game to load. As you can see Zinc can't be used directly with the Use Emulator box ticked, since the ROM file (Emulation is enabled) box cannot point to a number. Instead with the Use Emulator box left empty, the Launcher tab entries can now be set as follows For the Application Path box just browse to the zinc executable. And for the Application Command-Line Parameters box just type in the game's number. If you really want to use Zinc in LaunchBox Emulator mode then you will need to write a batch file that will take the rom name and convert it to a number and then call zinc with the number as a parameter. Apart from the game number, the command line can handle other parameters if needed (see the text file that comes with Zinc). And here are two images showing a sample game setup and what my Zinc folder looks like.
