  1. Yeah, BigBox is the "arcade cabinet / HTPC" mode which is meant for controller only use. While the free Launchbox mode can be used as a frontend on its own it is meant for setup and management. I use Launchbox mode almost exclusively, 99.9% of the time on my desktop even though I have a full lifetime license. Themes and everything else are free with a premium license.
  2. Is that a direct copy / paste from your command line ? If so it has 2 spaces in it that is causing it to not work. -L "cores\reicast_libretro.dll" Copy and paste that in and it should work if you have the reicast core in your cores folder.
  3. You don't need anything extravagant at all as long as it's not the super low end budget cards from a few years ago with gddr3 vram on it, you want something with gdd5 vram. Even my old GTX 970 is overkill for emulation.
  4. The Ryen 3600 is a very solid CPU for emulation. It has very good single thread and multi thread performance and has a great price. It will handle all the current emulators as well as they can be expected to run in their current states. You would be more likely to run into actual emulation issues than bottlenecks with the CPU. Yeah, Nividia is still preferred for emulation due to many emulators using OpenGL which is still AMDs weak point.
  5. My first guess is that you are using a wireless controller loaded Mame at some point with the controller not turned on. Mame has a nasty habit of resetting its controller bindings when that happens. To fix this you can try setting your default.cfg in the \cfg folder to read only or use wired controllers. Take that with a grain of salt though, I don't use wireless controllers, I only use wired ones and never had the issue of the controls resetting.
  6. Mame and Retroarch supports them natively, those are the only 2 I am aware of. You can force bezels in emulators that do not support them on their own through the use of 3rd party middleware called RocketLauncher though that comes with a steep learning curve.
  7. Can you load the game outside of Launchbox using Mame on its own ? If not then I highly suggest you get that working first. If you need a guide on setting that up I did a full written guide on it here: It's a little old now but all of information is the same and still applies.
  8. The people who buy drives probably have no clue how to upload it. Besides, that is the last thing we need around here, people who downloaded some drive they have no idea how it works and needing help troubleshoot it. No thanks, I don't do this to be a drive sellers free tech support. The day that becomes the norm is the day I walk away from this.
  9. You could have voted for as many of the items as you wanted, there was no limits on what you could vote for, only how many times you could vote and you couldn't change your vote. I voted for 3 items not a single one made the top 20.
  10. Yeah, my G27 is packed away and I have no clue if the dpad and buttons are mappable in BB or not.
  11. You might be able to use a wheel that has a d-pad or some other extra controller functionality in it.
  12. Yeah I get that except for this: Which has nothing to do with anything. The XBox guide button has nothing to do with controlling BB or emulators. So him bringing up as some sort of negative is just stupid and pointless and pollutes his own message. When I get into a debate with Jason about a feature I don't start randomly bitching about something else that has nothing to with anything at the same time.
  13. No, you mentioned a bunch of stuff about XBox controllers and none of it is preventing you from using a none XBox / Xinput controller. I'm ignoring anything about marquees since your first post here mentioned nothing of it other than a hashtag at the end of it. Like I said before, I use a TankStick on my HTPC which for all intents and purposes is just a sit down arcade cabinet since that is all it gets used as. My TankStick doesn't have an Xinput encoder in it and it controls both LB/BB and Mame perfectly with no issues. So if you are going to tell me i'm missing the point then perhaps you would actually like to make a point that is clear and understandable beyond "i dont want to play Total Carnage with a controller"
  14. Who cares if it's a platform in the DB ? No one is forcing anyone to use it but much like SCUMMVM which is not a real platform so people like to group all the games together as one. It's completely optional.
  15. The people who voted determined it, that's what a vote on a poll is for. And no one says you have to, use whatever controller you want. Launchbox doesn't determine what controller you use in any emulator.
  16. Your first post here mentioned nothing of marquees other than the # at the end of the post. Instead your first post was just some weird rant about XBox controllers.
  17. My HTPC is setup with a TankStick which is using a keyboard encoder and works just fine, no Xinput or XBox controller connected.
  18. Oh that. Go into your mame.ini and set skip_gameinfo to 1
  19. Those are a part of BigBox, turn off Loading Screens in the options.
  20. It loads fine here with the latest build of Redream. Maybe you have something checked that doesn't need to be in the Edit Emulator > Details panel.
  21. Make sure your platform names match, the one in LB itself and the one in the associated platforms list for your Retroarch emulator entry in LB need to be named exactly the same. Also make sure that you have the correct core selected in the associated platforms list for 3DO.
  22. Yeah, that should be it, Mame is pretty good with G-Sync out of the box. I've never had to adjust any settings for it and I have a G-Sync monitor. Correct. For a good quick test load up Samurai Shodown 2, get into a fight and look at the shadows on the ground. They should be flickering at a consistent rate giving the appearance of a shadow, if the shadow flicker is inconsistent it will be very noticeable. Another good test is Mortal Kombat, at the coin insert screen there will be scrolling characters on either side which should be a smooth scroll. Also after you select your fighter at the screen after where it scrolls down through all the fighters to the bottom should be smooth and not stutter. NeoGeo and Mortal Kombat don't run at 60hz at all, they are closer to 54/55 or something close to that.
  23. Good to hear, that command line parameter was something that got added recently with the Pause Screens feature in LB but is incompatible with older versions of Mame. I totally forgot about it last night while trying to walk through fixes until @neil9000 mentioned it on Discord late last night.
