  1. Yep, just noticed the same thing here. Startup time seems to be about 2 to 3 times longer for me after this update
  2. Just some friendly advice for a few of your questions I'd definitely check out the Emulation Wiki, as it gives some really good information as to which emulators are the best for each system https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Main_Page As for theme editing, I highly recommend the Community Theme Creator, which is relatively easy to use and comes with a lot of nice features too Community Theme Creator for BigBox - Third-party Apps and Plugins - LaunchBox Community Forums (launchbox-app.com) Coming from someone who's upgraded their SSD a few times, I'd say that having more space is always better, and a 512gb SSD can easily be found for less than $100. Although if you're playing a lot of the latest systems (PS2, Wii, 3DS, etc.) then you'll probably need an extra (non SSD) hard drive just to store them on, especially if you have a large amount of games. Hope that helps!
  3. Okay, thanks a lot. I'll give it a try
  4. Thanks a lot for this tutorial! By any chance is there an easier way to convert a xbox game folder to an .iso? The program you mentioned (extract-xiso) doesn't seem to work for me
  5. Great work once again! Thanks a lot for sharing this!
  6. Okay, sounds good. I'll try to find the files from the theme, although I'm pretty sure the finished "view" files used in the BigBox theme folder are not compatible with Community Theme Builder.

    3D boxes

From my experience of using LaunchBox/BigBox for the past 5-6 years, there's no way to automatically apply a uniform/universal setting for the 3d boxes, as the box-art representing several platforms come from many different sources, although the mods who gather and upload the artwork do try to keep it pretty consistent. My advice would be to choose "3D Boxes" in "Image Group" for LaunchBox and then find the 3D boxes which don't suit your preference, and then make the necessary changes. Time consuming and a bit annoying, yes, but worth it in the end
  8. No worries! If you wouldn't mind, I could throw something together with the Community Theme Builder that could use a text list instead of clear logos. That way, you could keep the theme as you prefer, and anyone who wants to adjust anything can just do it themselves, in this case - me
  9. This is pretty cool and I certainly like the idea of having a theme exclusively for music videos. However, the main problem I'm having is that it requires logos for each title? I must be missing something, because it just uses giant text for each video title, which doesn't look very attractive. How were you able to get those jukebox labels in there?
  10. Here ya go: Community Theme Creator for BigBox - Third-party Apps and Plugins - LaunchBox Community Forums (launchbox-app.com)
  11. Or, what you could do is use the same artwork from Nostalgia and CoinOp to put something (similar) together with the Community Theme Creator, which will obviously take some time and effort but a lot easier than having to manually code another theme
  12. I'm not totally sure, but you'd have to keep most of the installation files and folders because it's built into the executable (LaunchBox.exe and BigBox.exe), but stuff like games, images, videos, sounds, themes and configuration files within the LaunchBox folder can be interchanged (kept) with either version.
  13. Just to chime in as a long time user of this theme and even a fork of this theme which I put together, I can tell you that it's been broken ever since version 10 (-ish?) of LaunchBox/BigBox. So, I'd advise you to keep your old installation if you want to keep using Nostalgia until the author of this theme applies a fix or update to get it working with the most recent version.
  14. Sure, count me in! I'm not sure if my system qualifies as "old" but I built it about 5 years ago. And I have about 50 or so platforms set up within LaunchBox/BigBox
  15. Yep, I think the "95%" claim may be correct in that the games do run, but not all that well. I tried it out and there some very noticeable graphical glitches in a few of the Jaguar games. Hence, it is indeed a colossal turd and will probably remain that way for quite a while
  16. Keep looking and you'll find it. I just checked now in the "Retrofresh - Glass 1.51" file, and opened up the TextGamesView.xaml file which is contained within the "Views" folder and it looks something like this: So in this case, you'd change that "80" number to a lower number to make it less blurry or put a "0" to remove the blur altogether
  17. Coincidentally, I asked that same question a few years back and found the answer here RetroFresh - Big Box Custom Themes - LaunchBox Community Forums (launchbox-app.com) Basically, you have to change this part of the code in the .xaml of whichever view you want to change: <transitions:TransitionPresenter.Effect> <BlurEffect Radius="80" RenderingBias="Performance" /> </transitions:TransitionPresenter.Effect> Give it a try and see if that works for you
  18. Yep, there's a lot of jumbled up stuff out there unfortunately. While it's most often virus-free, it's also a big mess and I've had to find various fixes for nesicaxlive and teknoparrot games as a result. It's quite a hassle, but sometimes worth the effort
  19. I've wondered the same thing. The only annoying thing is that Windows Defender will often quarantine these files, which makes for a pain in the a** but other than that, I haven't noticed anything wrong. Although I've heard from various sources that these are indeed false positives
  20. The only thing I can think is that the names of the games don't match up somehow, but I think I've run out of ideas. And when that happens, I usually start from scratch and try to find the answers from the very beginning. There's a few tutorials out there, and this one may help: Philips CD-i - LaunchBox Tutorial - YouTube It's important to note that (in the video) he mentions "MESS" but MAME can be used in its place. And there's another thread which talks about the same topic in great detail: CD-i emulation - Emulation - LaunchBox Community Forums (launchbox-app.com)
  21. I wasn't referring to the Retroarch core, as I don't use that one for MAME either. In the mame folder, there should be a mame.cfg file which you may or may not have already. If not, look in the "ini" folder and there should be a cdimono1.cfg file which looks like this when opened: As you can see from the example above, the "bios" folder and games folders are referenced in "rompath" and "swpath". Hope that helps
  22. I was curious about that issue too and did a general search and found that the mic may not be working with the "desmume" core, according to this post DesMume core, microphone simulation not working? - Libretro / Cores - Libretro Forums But you may have better luck using the "melonds" core. I'll check it and see if there's any options for a microphone also Update: I just checked the melonds core and didn't see any microphone options. However, I've noticed that the desmume standalone (non-retroarch) program has plenty of microphone options. It can be found here: Downloads « DeSmuME
  23. Okay, then make sure you have the correct bios in the appropriate folder also. I think it's cdimono1.zip. And MAME is a little picky about folder locations for bios files. In my case "cdimono1.zip" is in the "bios" subdirectory of MAME with the MAME.cfg looking like this: # CORE SEARCH PATH OPTIONS # homepath . rompath roms; bios
